Decoy Wedding?!

Apologies I haven't gone through any individual topic to see if there are threads.

But with all the shit in the world going on, and true escapism is anyone else thoroughly excited about the "potential" TS/TK nuptials?

I find I'm far too invested! Pathetic to be so interested? Very possibly but I don't care!

Again apologies if there's already something going... If there is can someone share!

I'm by no means a fan or a Swiftie, but I do appreciate the fact that she stands ten toes down on not having the Kardashians anywhere near her. It's nice to see a huge celebrity gathering and not a Kardashian in sight.

DimwittedSkater · 05/07/2026 09:14

Sigh. She Easter-egged her wedding dress designer. I'm not sure how much clearer I could be. I can write it in Latin if that would help?

Edited

I never did Latin; they didn’t offer it in my series of under-performing comprehensive schools but use it as another way to belittle me, for sure. I’ll chair the Board meeting on Tuesday in Latin just for you.

It is not possible to decode handbags (I really should get up and stop wasting my Sunday talking about fucking HANDBAGS) as an egg for her wedding dress when she herself has explicitly stated that she doesn’t egg her personal life. You’re reading Swiftie fan clowning speculation and falling for it.

QuintadosMalvados · 05/07/2026 09:16

DimwittedSkater · 04/07/2026 23:15

I didn't ask for every detail of her personal life, did I? She's clearly going to show photos and film of her wedding but is meanly keeping them locked down, probably to make people pay to see them. And she's one of the biggest stars in the world. Of COURSE fans want to see a photo of her in her dress. I really do not think that that qualifies as wanting "every detail of her personal life." What a stupid thing to say.

Edited

I agree with this. Some posters here can't reconcile their love of Hello and fairytale weddings and their political correctness.

You're a fan. You want a picture of her in her dress.
That makes sense.

From what I understand she doesn’t Easter Egg her personal life.
You’re allowed to want to see a picture of her but she’s also allowed to decide when she chooses to share that picture, if at all.

Well, she sure Easter-egged her wedding dress designer. She wore a couple of J Anderson bags in the last few months.

She is going to release wedding material at some point anyway, so I don't know why she would make the Swifties wait, especially considering she must know they're all on tenterhooks.

SoScarletItWas · 05/07/2026 09:12

DimwittedSkater · 05/07/2026 09:03

The yellow Dior bag she wore a few months ago was specifically a J Anderson bag from Dior. That is, the same J Anderson @ Dior who's created her wedding dress. (I had to Google that. You could have too.)

Sigh. Did I not also post that she never eggs her personal life; she drops only music-related clues?

There seems to me to that the adult female swifties fall roughly into two categories:

1, Easy going women who enjoy a bit of pop music.
I don't share this view but fair enough.
They don't lecture others.

2, Women who hold her up as some feminist icon.
Now this I really do not get.
She's not a feminist, she's an individualist.
She is only a feminist if you see being able to earn a ton of money as feminist.
In which case Elon Musk is a feminist. Go fight for the sisterhood, Elon.

Because there's nothing else I can detect about her that places her as the next Germaine Greer.
Vacuous songs about her exes, a fairytale wedding.
Writing dross innuendo about Travis' penis size.

And a fairytale wedding is most definitely not feminist.
Nor is fawning over a dress.

Women in the second category are, I think, mistaking individualism for feminism.
Now of course while there's nothing inherently wrong with women having choices - in fact as a woman it's great-it does not automatically make every choice a feminist one.

The first type of fan I can cope with. I'll just politely disagree. Say it's not my taste.
The second not so much because should you make a slight criticism of their numero uno Feminist Goddess you'll be accused as misogynist of 'internalised misogyny' or some such crap.

(By the way, music cannot be objectively brilliant.)

I don’t think you understand what feminism is.

Feminism can be all of those things you describe. You can be a feminist who fights for equality for women but also likes /wants a fairytale wedding.
You can be a feminist and take an interest in fashion, celebrity lifestyle and call out misogyny and sexism when you see it.

I’m a feminist, I research and write about feminism and support women to strive for equality as part of my job. I also like fashion, pop music, wearing pink, getting my nails done etc. That doesn’t stop me being a feminist.

I couldn’t care less whether you’re a fan of hers or not, really I don’t care. But your comments are distinctly anti feminist and in my opinion misogynistic. They’re also factually incorrect. That’s what I have an issue with.

You describe her songs as vacuous - very rarely do we hear men described as vacuous. That’s what makes it misogynistic whether that was your intention or not. The number of awards she’s received would suggest her music is far from vacuous.

You criticise her for writing songs about her ex’s - again plenty of men do this but I never see them criticised for it. Plus you’ve ignored the many posters who’ve pointed out she also writes songs about other topics and there are whole albums which don’t feature a song about an ex. But invites that didn’t fit your narrative.

You criticise what she’s wearing. Again, that’s misogyny 101. It’s common knowledge that women are scrutinised and judged by their appearance in a way that men never are. That’s what makes it misogynistic.

Your categorisation of her fans is also incorrect. Shes not my favourite artist by a long shot and genuinely don’t care if someone doesn’t like her or her music. But you didn’t just say that. You decided to use well worn out misogynistic comments and attempted to belittle her fans. That’s certainly not feminism.

Let’s allow the woman to have her actual wedding event before sharing a photo though, eh?! She didn’t have to pop out and release a picture. They’re probably still asleep 🤣🤣

She had her publicist send out an email blast during the reception with details about the day. I'm sure they could have managed a photo at the same time. She has a massive and very, very loyal fan base who support her in everything she does and would have been on tenterhooks. She's obviously going to release a bunch of material about this wedding at some point, so why not put all the devoted Swifties out of their misery by letting them see the dress? She might have known that they would be breathless with anticipation, and I think it's mean of her to let them wait. I've lost interest now as I'm not a Swiftie, just someone who likes a bunch of her songs, so I just had a passing interest bc of all the fuss. But I'm sure her fan army would still like to see.

SoScarletItWas · 05/07/2026 09:07

I think that amount of awards moves it into ‘objectively’ territory, @QuintadosMalvados, away from subjective persona taste level.

’Wood’ is absolutely a terrible song and I said as much on the LOAS thread when the album came out. I mentioned other missteps. She’s prolific; sometimes she needs an editor!

I do see TS as an active feminist, thanks to her work to change commercial structures in the music business. She gives support-act opportunities to female artists which raise their profile hugely. No, she’s not advancing gender rights via the influential thought leadership of first- and second-wave feminist writers and activists. I believe she’s still playing a part in role modelling hard work and business acumen; some presentations of which wouldn’t stand up to the challenge of ‘feminist’ taken in isolation.

The yellow Dior handbag was part of the Toy Story egging. She wore it with a blue dress and tan sandals. And it was a horrible outfit, just so you don’t think I can’t be objective 🤣

Dior doesn’t make even the top 5 designers she wears most often. (I had to Google that. You could have too.)

The yellow Dior bag she wore a few months ago was specifically a J Anderson bag from Dior. That is, the same J Anderson @ Dior who's created her wedding dress. (I had to Google that. You could have too.)

I have to correct this ‘half naked’ accusation. She famously never shows her belly button in photos. Her Eras tour bodysuits are cut like boy shorts. And they are, well, bodysuits not bikinis.

I came late to TS music and when I didn’t know anything about her music I absolutely thought it was vacuous pop songs for 9 year old girls. There are a few, including a few knee jerk missteps (I’d include You Need To Calm Down there which seemed like a quick response to accusations that she was anti/didn’t support LGB communities).

But she’s a bloody brilliant songwriter. Storyteller. Poet. I was surprised at the lyricism and depth of much of her music.

I don’t care much about her life, but her music is objectively brilliant:

She has won over 740 awards throughout her career, including 14 Grammy Awards, 40 American Music Awards, and 49 Billboard Music Awards. She is the only artist in history to win Album of the Year at the Grammys four times.

The rest is just personal taste, at best; misogyny at worst.

(Oops, three posts in a row. The Swifties are having a lie in this morning… I’ll pop over to S&B and see if anyone needs help finding a frock…)

I disagree in this case. She is a public figure. Her fans being interested in her is what's put her where she is. You can't be OK with fans paying for your music and your merch and your concert tickets and then get all precious when they want to see a photo of you in your wedding dress.

Let’s allow the woman to have her actual wedding event before sharing a photo though, eh?! She didn’t have to pop out and release a picture. They’re probably still asleep 🤣🤣

QuintadosMalvados · 04/07/2026 15:13

I totally agree. While I am neutral about her (TS) she is like a weird non-sexual crush for older women.
I mean nobody could deny she has business sense and that's to be praised but so do a lot of famous women.
Where's the admiration for them?

The rest is vacuous pop songs about exes which she seems to perform half-naked.

Never mind I suppose this whole spectacle will be good for the inevitable divorce album.
Which I won't be buying as I'm not 12.

@MickyMoonshine AND she has a habit of planting "Easter eggs" - i.e. clues - in everything she does, to get more attention and give her fans even more to obsess over. But we're not allowed to want to see a photo of her on one of the most significant days of her life. Give over!

Nice virtue-signalling tho. 🙄

Edited

From what I understand she doesn’t Easter Egg her personal life.

It wouldn't matter WHO was President. The fact that it's the 250th year of independence, it would be celebrated no matter what.

It IS being celebrated. But Trump’s American State Fair has had a lot of issues and sparse attendance. This expensive boondoggle is just a celebration of Trump himself. Some of the vendors are weird and some are crazy. Like the guy who thought the Salem witch trials were a good idea, but the people in charge should have been “more organized”. A MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) booth that featured a video encouraging women to eat healthy and work out so they’d prepare to be wives and mothers. Because, you know, that’s the only reason to eat well and exercise. I’ll be damned pleased if this wedding or anything upstages this embarrassment to the US, instead of feeding the outrageous ego of the criminally dangerous, ignorant, narcissistic sexual predator currently in office. The real celebrations of the 250th will be local ones held by ordinary people.

Clonakilla · 05/07/2026 04:03

I work in an intensive care unit. A great many of us like Taylor Swift and quite a number went to see the Eras tour.

We’re doing pretty well at resuscitating people for a living for a group of such silly vacuous women.

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 05/07/2026 03:47

Aintgointogoa · 03/07/2026 22:26

I think she and TK absolutely made the right decision. She has always made it very plain that she loves a big 'hoopla'. She told Graham Norton exactly that (and he is there !) Most of her life has been spent in the public eye, then playing huge arenas which she and her team plan down to the most meticulous detail to deliver incredible performances. TK the same, playing ball 🤭 They match each other's energy. And most of all, I really like that she has taken the wind out of Trump's bloated ego focussed and divisive 'celebration' of 250 years of USA independence. And, just like everything that Taylor does, I do not think that was unintentional. He will be furious her wedding is the hotspot in the news, US and globally. GO GO Taylor and Travis !

It wouldn't matter WHO was President. The fact that it's the 250th year of independence, it would be celebrated no matter what.

Well, at least we know you have heard one TS song, only one though by the sounds of it given both your lyrical references being to All Too Well, which is more than can be said for some of the posters trashing her entire musical catalogue while never having actually listened to it.
I don't know why you would be so scandalised that a musician might write about things that happened in their own lives though, isn't that pretty universal?

I'm a big fan of TS and have listened to most of her music. And I'm not scandalised by the Easter eggs - I think they're fun. You need to read the conversation to understand the context of my post.

Yes and also boring
mind you it has raised an interesting interaction with people who also find it weird for an adult to be so invested in a pop singer that she doesn’t know.

So she's boring and also not sensible?
The desperation to have a go at this woman ...
