By way of illustration, a female acquaintance whom I have known since university was a big one for this. She's straight and probably of average attractiveness. While at university she'd frequently remark on the absence of men she found attractiv

To think cross gender collective punishment is a thing.

I believe the answer to be 42.

TFImBackIn · 03/07/2026 17:52

Is this just like saying, "Who you think you are to call someone ugly?"

Createausername1970 · 03/07/2026 17:50

Darragon · 03/07/2026 15:32

Well that’s clear as mud.

🤣🤣.

I may not be university educated, but I think I am of reasonable intelligence, and I am not completely sure what the heck is going on.

But I am eating a sausage and watching with interest.

CrispySquid · 03/07/2026 17:47

I love both a Waning Gibbous and a link to a Boden sale.

Naunet · 03/07/2026 17:45

So what? It's biology, the vast majority of female species are more selective than males. Did you think biology only ever worked in males favour?

PickAChew · 03/07/2026 17:32

Oh for the olden days when people merely swallowed dictionaries, rather than LLMs.

TidyMaid · 03/07/2026 17:22

Rarely does one find such obvious examples of where A1 would have made an improvement.

Lemonyyy · 03/07/2026 17:12

Op did your school break up for the holidays today? Surely you aren't bored already?

TheTortiePuffinNeedsHerBreakfast · 03/07/2026 17:10

Shall I have the Pistachio Magnum or the hazelnut one?

GotALionInMyPocket · 03/07/2026 17:05

Huh?

Theyreeatingthedogs · 03/07/2026 17:00

It's on the shelf behind the food processor.

You, OP, are causing several people to have snapped and farted!

But seriously, for a moment, what on earth are you on about?

I think it boils down to a fairly simple phrase.

'I'm not getting laid and I don't like it'.

Darragon · 03/07/2026 16:57

Is OP going to come back and engage with the deep and meaningful discussion he started?
My money’s on this being about tree limbs not people limbs. But I’m just going out on a limb here.

PerkingFaintly · 03/07/2026 16:54

DollopOfFun · 03/07/2026 15:28

Did you get your title and your OP the wrong way round, and then in your fluster, your little finger hit the post button, and well, here we are?

Oh chapeau, @DollopOfFun , for getting that!

Though it transpires putting title and OP the correct way round doesn't actually increase intelligibility...

ComtesseDeSpair · 03/07/2026 15:23

That would be an ecumenical matter.

Wins the internet today!

thestudio · 03/07/2026 16:47

Also OP - you might want to have a think about the fact that, as with male and female strippers, female criticism of men is not the precise equivalent of male criticism of women. This is because of something called 'Context'.

Both happen within the context of a patriarchal society in which men have more power than women in almost every respect, although I understand that you've been confused by Nigel telling you that this is the Big Lie or whatever.

DeedsNotDiddums · 03/07/2026 16:44

Yeah but no but yeah but no...

How Opinion Pieces Work in the Summer:

'I know it's really hot and you're WFH with your head in the fridge, Diane, but I need 600 words about literally anything, ideally referencing John Lewis, by 5pm'.

Journalist; [looks up from Wimbledon, sees sweaty snoring husband, also "WFH" in his ancient floppy football shorts]

Opinion Piece: Why the Pallid British Male Fails at Summer, Unlike the French/Italians/Swiss [subs pls insert pic of Roger Federer; plus link to Boden sale]

Excellent and accurate.

C8H10N4O2 · 03/07/2026 16:42

You seem to be still recovering from your visit to the Sistine Chapel. A darkened room may be helpful.

Where do these British and Irish male limbs appear from, and where are they at other times? Do the limbs of other nationalities also appear, or are they more constant?

I tried kefir for the first time today, no banana for scale.

tartyflette · 03/07/2026 15:56

Life’s too short to be arsed with this bollocks.
(Picky bits is actually two words, even if hyphenated, and is a horrible phrase anyway. )

And now it has even made it into supermarket adverts, @tartyflette.

@Nearenough - I don’t think what you are (confusedly) referring to, is not collective punishment. It is generalisation, imo.

These will do for starters, there are probably more - rules of misogyny.

  1. Women are responsible for what men do.
  2. Women saying no to men is a hate crime.

3 - men may judge a woman because of her additional pounds, even if they are carrying an great deal more around their gut.

Promisingtree · 03/07/2026 16:25

That's nice dear
