What collective misdeed is the individual male being punished for? Being unattractive? That doesn't make sense because clearly not all men are unattractive. Or are you suggesting that the female secretly finds the male attractive but pretends not to because of a lot of men being dickheads? Whatever you are trying to articulate sounds like a load of gobshite.

i can’t afford it, they are too expensive
not as spendy as pine nut fatigue though

The subject line and text seem to have got mixed up. In addition to what is above, my feeling is that sometimes those who havee felt negarively judged on their own attractiveness like to make vocal judgments about others. It is as if being in the judge's chair means you cannot be the one being judged.

A (possibly); related phenomenon is the summer slew of opinion pieces by female journalists bemoaning the appearance in public of very white British and Irish male limbs. Is this an attempt, conscious or otherwise, to rebalance the scales of attractiveness judging? What seems to be clear is that the people who are appearance-shamed are often not the exact same group of people doing the original negative appearance judging, which is what causes the appearance of collective punishment.

These Irish limbs that you speak of are they small or just far away?

You beat me to it although I was about to pontificate about Oxford commas.
Anyway, it was general waste day here and I put out the recycling by mistake so now I have to take the waste to the tip (by appointment only) in case it gets too hot next week. The weather, not the waste but it could be both.
