To be shocked that my good friend, 37, is seeing a 66 year old lady?

Had a few beers with a good friend recently and got a bit tipsy and we got into his dating life. He told me that he’s been seeing a 66 year old grandmother. He is only 37 for reference. They met via online dating.

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with this but I’m just a bit shocked to be honest. He says that they enjoy each other’s company and there is no intention of it developing into anything more.

My friend has always dated younger women and not short of female attention at all.

It’s all good right?

I'm early 40s and a men in that age group have hit on me. Women in this age group do seem to be very attractive but it is quite different to a 66 year old woman, I don't know why i feel like that, I suppose all the women i know in that age look like grand mothers, it just seems different...

I’m very interested in this post because I have a female friend who is 86 and is in a very physical relationship with a man of 47. She feels like it’s her birthday and Christmas all rolled into one, but I am extremely anxious for her. I guess I just can’t imagine why he would be attracted to someone much older than his mother.
he has told her that “0ther people don’t matter “ but I’m sure her daughters are concerned. Obviously they’re older than he is. I wonder what Mumsnetters would make of this!

Whether its good for not is for them alone to judge. They aint hurting anyone and probably having fun. She's older. So what?

Aslong as they aren't hurting anyone, l don't see a problem. Older people no longer sit and wait for god. They take care of themselves, how they dress , eat healthy foods etc. I am 60, my daughters friends couldn't believe it when they found out, they thought l was 42....Brilliant, loved it...No toyboy for me , been married to my lovely husband for 34yrs and still find him as attractive now, as l did when l first saw him..
Life can be too short, we never know what's around the corner. Live and let live.

Your 'friend' does not 'do' platonic yet you and he are apparently just platonic.
You have seen his payslips to know how much he earns? Perhaps he is a liar and a manipulator and the way he gets his money is fleecing older women.

As a lady in her early to mid 60s, I adore this!. And I get a lot of attention from the odd Adonis.

I hope htat they continue in their friendship/partnership, whatever it is. It is clearly good for both of them.

Too much of a gap. It’s half your age plus 7 years is the minimum.

Unfortunately my husband pointed out that even with the above it would mean I could date a bloke in his mid nineties 🤮🤮🤮

Don't be ageist just because she is 66 doesn't mean she is old its a number she is probably really good for 66 and will have great conversation up for all kinds grown up family .. he finds her attractive in all ways good luck to him & her.

How old are you to be able to date a guy in his nineties if you halve your age etc?!
