They need to walk their dog

I have had a couple of instances in the last 20 years where my dogs have escaped into a neighbour's garden (one, terrier sized, found a parcours route over the roof of the shed chasing a squirrel!! While I stood there agape, with the Mission Impossible theme playing in my head). Each time we found the weakness and plugged it immediately (we put 8ft trellis in front of the shed). It is irresponsible of dog owners to let their dogs escape. Poop or no poop they need to keep their dogs in their own garden. They can clip back the hedge on their side, secure chicken wire along it, and then let the hedge grow back. It is a matter of concern for the dog's safety. I hope you can find a way to broach the subject. 💚

Get some wire ? As someone suggested chicken wire is cheap and easy to use.

Get some wood & block the bloody gap then surely that idea wasn’t too much to work out even for a Karen & get Kevin 🤦‍♀️

They need to secure their garden and stop with the abusive comments to you. A trip to b&q will get them everything the need to do that.
Don't grant them permission to enter your garden.

We fully paid for a new fence between us and the neighbour below us because we needed a secure area for our dog.
Between us and the neighbours above us we have a hedge that runs down between our paths. To stop our dog getting into theirs (ours did it first but theirs also came through) I secured some green 'chicken wire' to block the gaps. Has worked a treat.
Id be mortified if my dog pooped in someone's garden and I would want to be told (he is always supervised in the garden)

also I suppose it could depend on the size and location of the bushes, where and how a fence would fit in line with the boundary.

Can the dog get any further than your garden? Any dog coming into
my garden would find its way on to the street because during the day I leave my side gate open.

Even if it’s their boundary, she can put up whatever fence she wants, as long as it’s on her side.

Check the deeds to see who is responsible for that side. If it’s them, you can suggest that they put up a fence to keep their dog safe and confined to their own garden. If it’s your boundary then you can put whatever fence you want up.

A roll of chicken wire should do the trick, I have it attached to my hedge to keep my dogs in .

Two things:

1. buy £20 worth of chicken wire and block the fence yourself. It’s insane how British people don’t understand fencing.
2. your husband is a dick, I don’t have a solution for that.

They need to secure their dog. It doesn’t matter whose boundary it is, their dog is their responsibility eg if there was no fence round your front garden, it would be their responsibility to stop their dog shitting on it.

Obviously it may come down to you so it if they are irresponsible owners (which tbh it sounds like they are). Plant something prickly. Spray the dog with water. Pick the shit up and leave it on their doorstep. Tell them you’ve got plants which are poisonous to dogs (I’m not suggesting you actually poison their dog, just tell them your garden is not safe and therefore they need to keep it out).

It's a bit weird that they haven't secured their garden. Surely they have no idea whether their dog can escape into the street or into other gardens. Why not say that your garden isn't secure?

If it doesn’t bother your husband then send him out to clean it all up. See how quick he changes his tune.

I hate dog muck, it doesn’t come completely off the grass and leaves residue. Grim.

Obviously it would not be unreasonable to tell the neighbours to pick up their own dogs shit! 🤣 your husband is insane.

The onus is on them to sort the holes in the hedge as they're the ones with the dog escaping through it.

My 5 doors down neighbour once got in the back of ours (via a ROW path) and I was straight round to ask them to please pick up the poo it did on me lawn. I was very polite, they were very polite, it was not at all awkward or confrontational and most importantly I did not have to pick up random dog poo

As a dog owner, I am responsible for their shit, and also for keeping them contained within my own property. Believe me, secure fencing is absolutely possible and also a necessity.
Go knock on the door and tell them the dog is getting into your garden and shitting (I have to be honest, they are either thick as mince, or they already know this) and it’s not acceptable. They either fence securely or you will be flinging shit back in their direction. And do it too. I would never allow any of my dogs to do this!

You would be absolutely right to ask them to deal with it.

Letting a dig poo in someone’s garden is not on.
