I think you've done well Op, but why not just show her? I know what you mean about being embarrassed and I think not being embarrassed if you are prone is better than having a surprise.

My mum once produced a cake at my party when I was about that age and I nearly died of embarrassment. It had a character I loved standing in the middle but unfortunately that character was seen as a bit babyish (though she was right that I still loved it in private)

My initial reaction is "that is SO fun"... I will now go back and read the posts.
But, @Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday it's beyond what many people could conjure so I hope the recipients love it and - if they don't - don't let them eat cake.

Absolutely not , it looks fabulous!

I don't know why people need to be so mean and rude. Your daughter is very lucky to be able to have a party and a mum that cares enough to make a home made cake, and I bet it tastes delicious. It doesn't look like a professional cake because it isn't. And in this heat you've done well to get anything standing upright. I dont think you should feel embarrassed at all.

This absolutely. You’ve done amazingly with the cake! A lot of effort goes into making a cake even before you’ve iced it unless you’re a real baker, you should be proud of your efforts!

It's lovely! Homemade ones are always the best. My son turned 5 earlier this month and he's also capybara mad.

ETA it's meant to be a capy hot tub 🤣

Edited

Now THAT’S good! See the difference 🤦‍♀️😂

Of course not, a sweet chocolate cake.

Oppositesituation · 23/06/2026 18:17

You've done a great job, it's a lovely cake.

Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday · 23/06/2026 18:15

I’m wondering if I should put some Maltesers around the bottom of the cake

Fuck me that looks tasty 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

canklesmctacotits · 23/06/2026 18:09

It’s very cute and looks intentionally so! And from someone who also lives in an area where birthdays are often ridiculously OTT, I bet you’ll be doing lots of people a favour in making this OK. Nobody likes spending £300 on a kids’ birthday cake…

Mumandcarer80 · 23/06/2026 18:06

It’s just a little lop sided. As long as it tastes good it wouldn’t bother me.

Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday · 23/06/2026 16:59

Why?

Because I think I'd make a right hash of it!

user293948849167 · 23/06/2026 18:06

It looks lovely

Phonicshaskilledmeoff · 23/06/2026 18:04

My 9 year old would be thrilled with that (and proud of me for making it!)

PurpleReindeer2 · 23/06/2026 18:04

It's lovely OP 🥰

No offence guinea-pigs , DD and I kept loads of them.

But , eight pages and no-one posted this :

It's really nice

NewGoldFox · 23/06/2026 17:40

Just to add, it’s a lovely cake you should be proud that you have spent the most precious commodity (time) on making something for your daughter.
Ignore the snarky comments, there are some real dingbats on this thread.

Superscared · 23/06/2026 17:39

Please stop overthinking this - it’s a great homemade cake made with love for your daughter ♥️

Theworldsgonemadagain · 23/06/2026 17:39

I think it's great you made the effort it looks fine and it probably will taste lovely. I made my son a sonic cake once, it looked a bit shit but he was well pleased with it. It's mad to spend £££ on a cake.
