What are your neighbours doing to annoy you this summer?

For the past two evenings, just as it's finally cooled down enough to open the windows, one neighbour has fired up a BBQ and another has lit a log fire.

I know people are entitled to enjoy their gardens, but the timing feels almost impressively irritating.

Anyway, rather than sitting here seething internally while my house slowly fills with eau de smoked sausage and bonfire, please tell me about your neighbours' most gloriously twattish habits.

The more petty and irrationally annoying, the better.

Help me feel less alone 😂

Smoking really strong weed that I can smell all through the house including my kids rooms, so I have to run around shutting windows. And never at the same time of day so it’s a surprise… could be 6am or 11pm.

What fun!

Swissmeringue · 21/06/2026 21:40

They had a kids birthday party on their front driveway. The reason they can't do it in their garden is because they put in an absurd planning application to build a pair of semi's in their garden leaving them with about 3 sq metres of garden. Somehow, on the 5th attempt, it was approved. So now they are just holding their own personal street parties apparently.

I hope they step on Lego.

Ibi · 21/06/2026 21:40

Your neighbours are having a bbq at dinner time?!! How is that unreasonable?!!

Purplestarballoon · 21/06/2026 21:38

My neighbours are pretty quiet and considerate but we have one neighbour (one side all the gardens back on to us so the houses are at the other end and we don’t know them) who talks so loudly. She’s not rude or annoying particularly but I only ever hear half a conversation and sometimes they sound juicy.. I wouldn’t recognise her in the street but I’m waiting for the day I hear her out in the town and she won’t know that I know all her business 😂

Skippinglightly · 21/06/2026 21:38

Head butting each other when arguments over the best weed to nibble on get out of hand, my little flock of sheep are very sweet most of the time though 😂

managingexpectations · 21/06/2026 21:37

Playing loud music at 10am
ineffective parenting: they let their 5yr old and 2 year old out unsupervised the elder one bullies the wee one, climbs on the fence, shouts and screams at the top of their lungs
The mum eventually stands in the kitchen gently asking for quiet with no consequences.
5yr old constantly throws toys over the fence, kicks balls over and then climbs on the fence to demand them back.
they start warming up the bbq at 3ish for dinner at 7!
or my biggest bug bear, as soon as she hears me in the garden she comes out too and starts muttering about from my house! I stay on my own and I’m literally the quietest I can possibly be.

this is the same neighbour that moaned I had the washing machine on at 7pm because it might wake her kids!!

Cobrakainerd · 21/06/2026 21:36

Smoking weed, they are well past pension age too..🙈😂

Bluesclues1 · 21/06/2026 21:34

They’re retired so have all week but decide to use power tools from about 8am every Sunday for most of the day 🙄

CadiFfan · 21/06/2026 21:33

My neighbours bleat all day.

i don’t have human neighbours and i don’t want any neither

LuckyManifestations · 21/06/2026 21:30

Mine three doors down have tvs on at full volume both upstairs and downstairs at the same time in their house. 😵‍💫 Windows wide open, which means I can't open my windows unless I have my tv loud too.
I feel so sorry for the guy who lives next door to them.

Gardenisablooming · 21/06/2026 21:28

Using power tools feet from my bedroom window at 8.05 am this morning.. Utter twats and have been since even before they moved in.

The only ones who annoy me are the ones who smoke weed constantly so it wafts in ours when the windows are open, and the ones across the road who seem to have loads of visitors who park their cars awkwardly. We’re on a sort of corner and it makes access difficult. One up the road a few houses just moved in and parks his truck right by a bend so no-one can see what’s coming.

This reminded me of the neighbours further down the road. They were having work done and to free up their drive they parked their cars awkwardly on the road. This blocked the bin lorry and our bins weren’t emptied.

Terrible music. As soon as there’s a ray of sun. Awful dance music with a constant heavy bass line. With their kids that do nothing but scream from sun up to sun down.

We get to hear their TV constantly. They seem to like reality tv, sport and quiz shows. Periodically they treat us to an afternoon of Michael Jackson played at full volume while they cook Sunday lunch. Bifolds should be banned.

So with you. Bi fold means I can hear absolutely everything!

laloue · 21/06/2026 21:25

This morning, one side lit a barbecue for breakfast when I had a load of washing on the line , no warning.…right now we’ve come indoors because the young couple (first home etc) two doors down have just got the power tools out to build something on the patio. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt , probably not really thinking about it, but I was just getting settled with a glass of wine and my book.

DontGoChasinWaterfalls · 21/06/2026 21:25

Exist.

Bufftailed · 21/06/2026 21:24

Small gardens. Bi fold doors open all day with loud taking. Might as well sit in their kitchen. Children screaming a lot and not asked to stop

Annoying cunts with fires in this heat

Crudd99 · 21/06/2026 21:23

Three different neighbours spend most evenings sitting outside the front of their houses chatting. Its not so much annoying as baffling as we have very small front gardens/ drives and big back gardens. They must sit out as soon as they come back from work. I don't know why they don't go into one of their back gardens as it must be better than sitting in the car fumes and having random people walking past listening to them.

I feel your pain. The neighbours behind me have got bifold and I can hear everything I mean everything

I’ve let my front lawn grow a bit longer because the white and purple clover was looking amazing and the bees were loving it. Other wild flowers have also started to appear so it just looked magical.
I was out from early doors till late evening yesterday and when I got home my beautiful lawn was no more.
My wonderful neighbour had cut his and thought he’d do mine as well as he knew I’d had a busy few weeks.
I couldn’t be annoyed because he was so chuffed but I do feel sorry for the bees!🐝

NoEffingWay · 21/06/2026 21:05

We all have tiny gardens, but they have filled theirs with a squeaky trampoline and a pool. The kids are homeschooled so it’s bouncing, splashing and screaming from about 7am-9pm. What fun!

BejewelledCat · 21/06/2026 20:56

They open up the bifold doors, take their beers into the garden and sit on the patio watching the 60 inch TV they installed in the kitchen. Obviously, they need to turn the volume up so they can hear it which means we can all hear it in our houses, too.
