Did my DH’s comments to a stranger cross the line?

Local retail park - there’s a gym by the car park. Walking back to the car earlier, DH makes conversation with a man (early/mid 20’s I guess) and says he’s in good shape (he had a vest on and was muscly) and that he wouldn’t trust him around me. Jokey tone, the guy laughed. He then said ‘she’d eat you alive, son. She’d probably teach you a thing or two’, again he laughed and we carried on walking.

DH is a bit of a cheeky chappy and always makes conversation with strangers, but I felt this was a bit off.

Ugh what a foul creep of a husband you’ve got there.

Approaching a young man to tell him how good his body is apropos of nothing, suggesting you would sexually assault him, and then suggesting that if he fucked you you’d ‘teach him things.’ Proper gross stuff.

He does have plenty of friends, and is a local councillor now too, so there are people who took a liking to him.

Reform councillor by any chance?

Stanthedog15 · 21/06/2026 18:23

I think its your partner who wants attention. Also to feel really masculine.
Asking a stranger to Asses you. Whilst he's giving points of how hard you are to handle. How fantastic you are. [ the guy was being told you're not strong enough. Or good looking enough.
If next time he talks about you .like your deaf and have no personal space that should be protected.
Just say . Terribly sorry. Im trying to teach him to be a gentleman. Sadly he's failing Terribly.

Ontobetterthings · 21/06/2026 17:59

God he makes you both sound like swingers

OutAndAbouting · 21/06/2026 17:53

To be honest, I think he's fine, and perhaps inadvertently trying to show of his wife. He may perhaps be a bit misguided though!!!

Edit - actually I quite like it that he connects with strangers. There's a lot of judgement and criticism on here, which is fine as that's peoples reaction. I think that connection is what makes the world go 'round.

Where did I say that? I said both of you. You said nothing at rh3 rime, walked along with them and even refer to your husband as a cheeky chappy and this as a “bit off”

it’s not a bit off, it’s creepy and grim. This young man was accosted in the car park by the both of you, with your husband talking about his body and making jokes about fucking you. Yoire both old enough to be his parent or grandparent,

my daughter is the same age, if a middle aged couple approached her and started talking about her body and making jokes about fucking one of them, I’d be outraged,

Not to mention this. Creeps.

Your husband is a weirdo

He won't be one for long if he keeps appeoaching good looking strange men and talking about their having sex with his wife.

It sounds like he's trying to hit up strange dudes for 3somes.

My first thought too.

@Cyclingsar hasn't denied it! You could NOT make this up 🤣

Ah yes, it’s the woman at fault. Classic Mumsnet!

Well at least the young man has a story to tell, he will tell his mates how he met this couple who were old enough to be his parents/grandparents, was approached by the man, who started telling him out fit he was then talked about him fucking his wife, as she stood back and said nothing.

how fucking creepy and grim is that from the pair of you and for the poor guy.

Grim. Tell him how inappropriate that was.

No, but barely anything on here is true, but still it allows people to rage for a few minutes

I'm now racking my brains to try to think of the arsehole I mentioned earlier is running for Councillor. He's early 50's.
@Cyclingsar he hasn't got his head around how old he is, has he? You've come out of the MILF category around ten years ago. He's gone into, creepy old guy, territory. No-one younger wants to talk about sex to people our age, only his mates, who are also in denial about exactly how old (and past it) they are. You're not in a old mining town are you? We are all a bit perplexed as to why the guy I know thinks anyone would be interested. The fact he offers himself and by the references he makes about his wife, they obviously don't even want each other.

TofuTuesday · 20/06/2026 16:43

Are any of these weird conversations actually true? We’ve had the waiter one, the builder one, I have never met anyone who talks like this.

No, but barely anything on here is true, but still it allows people to rage for a few minutes

HeyThereDelila · 20/06/2026 21:44

The whole thing is weird, who talks to strangers like this?? And saying he wouldn’t trust him around you? Very disrespectful attitude to you.

newmenewwhatever · 20/06/2026 21:43

So your husband felt the need to embarrass you in front of a stranger today because it would make him feel better for not having a buff body ?!?!
and you think this is banter??
he does not like you very much to humiliate you in a supermarket carpark for no reason at all !!

BassBug · 20/06/2026 21:19

How to add points to the 'unattractive scale' 🤢 imagine how he would feel if it was you saying stuff like that to another woman. "you look fit as, I'll have to watch my husband around you... He'd smash you rigid and you wouldn't be able to handle him" sounds really pervy doesn't it? I would want to crawl under a stone if my gf said that about me.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 20/06/2026 21:13

omgwhys · 20/06/2026 16:40

Very weird. Humiliating for you aswel. He’s overly friendly it sounds. Disrespectful to his woman also. I’d have words

'his woman'? That's pretty disrespectful wording.

Thebigonesgetaway · 20/06/2026 20:35

Is this for real? What am I even reading. It’s a ick as it gets, your old enough to be his mother if not his grandmother.

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 20/06/2026 20:33

He sounds porn/sex obsessed.

TheBlueKoala · 20/06/2026 20:26

Cyclingsar · 20/06/2026 17:06

We are both early 50’s.

So you could have been this lad's mum. Very disgusting of him - disrespectful of you and the young man. I would hate for someone to talk like that to my sons.

Shoopshawady · 20/06/2026 20:14

I hate men like this. You must know him by now and listen to his shit all the time? My friends husband is constantly making sexual innuendos as it’s so tiresome! Turns out they never have sex… I always think men like this are making up for something or very insecure. Surely you find it super unattractive?!

vanessashanessa99 · 20/06/2026 20:08

He isn't a "cheeky chappie" given he is in his early 50s he a lewd, vulgar man. My sons are early 20s and I'd not want someone perv old enough to be their grandad saying things like that to them.
