Did my DH’s comments to a stranger cross the line?

Local retail park - there’s a gym by the car park. Walking back to the car earlier, DH makes conversation with a man (early/mid 20’s I guess) and says he’s in good shape (he had a vest on and was muscly) and that he wouldn’t trust him around me. Jokey tone, the guy laughed. He then said ‘she’d eat you alive, son. She’d probably teach you a thing or two’, again he laughed and we carried on walking.

DH is a bit of a cheeky chappy and always makes conversation with strangers, but I felt this was a bit off.

If she’s as highly strung as her mother sounds, she could probably do with taking them up on their offer!

You and your other half are two peas in a pod.
Just as well you found each other, really.

Pinkdayss · 22/06/2026 14:30

Cheeky chappy?

More like cringey low class oik🤢🤮

Pinkchickenwine · 22/06/2026 14:24

He spoke about you like he owned you! Not great.

Yes they did and so did this comment by you. Sounds like you and DH are well suited.

KilkennyCats · 22/06/2026 13:22

Cheeky Chappie? 🤢
This makes it sound like you generally indulge his embarrassing nonsense.
You know everyone he buttonholes in the street is cringing themselves inside out (at both of you), right?

Markovenchip · 22/06/2026 13:12

Many of these young 'muscle-boys' are in love with themselves more than anything, posting endless selfies of themselves on social media, just put the incident behind you, if similar happens again, just say to DH 'that's enough', firmly but quietly.......😐

LordofMisrule1 · 22/06/2026 12:38

Wtf

He deliberately went out of his way to say something to get this stranger to imagine being with you sexually, and then said what he did as a way of communicating that you're... what? Sexually confident? Experienced? Insatiable?

Some men love to brag that their partner is the above things because they think it reflects well on them that they've 'tamed' her or get to 'benefit' from their sexual appetite. It's utterly disgusting that he did this involving a total stranger. I'm embarrassed for him. Has he no decorum?

Wow. Reap what you sow. You have a pig of a husband and the other poster is right.

I pointed out to him, some men may have not taken kindly to the comments. He said he was complimenting the man on two fronts so why would anyone be annoyed at their physique being complimented and the suggestion they could pull an ‘experienced MILF’.

Oh! You're an experienced MILF.

That he has pulled.

How lovely of him to big himself up in the eyes of another man by complimenting himself on the lovely, trophy (object) of a woman that sexually satisfies him.

Lovely.

So nice of him to use you both to establish himself first in the pecking order. Hot.

You’ve completely lost my sympathy with this ridiculous comment. You and your husband both sound creepy and inappropriate.

Really so you think approaching people alone and talking to them about having sex with one of the couple isn’t a sign of swinging. How very naive.

No, I don’t think that .
I think OPS husband was showing off to the young fella & thinks he was being funny , when in an actual fact he sounds like an idiot 🙈.

Peakyblinder18 · 22/06/2026 03:51

I'd bin the insecure dh

You literally have to be the only person in the universe that got that from OPS post 😂

Oh come come. Women do compete with other women, get bealous of other women, make catty comments and possessive about their partners, sure it’s not identical but it’s the female version, let’s not pretend otherwise

My teenage niece is very beautiful, and social exclusion is a major way for females to express aggression towards other females. Especially when they can't confront her outright about anything, since she's a lovely person who has done nothing wrong except be physically stunning. She has plenty of friends, but that doesn't stop the fact that there's a lot of jealousy from certain quarters. One girl, for example, would wait until my niece was off sick from school and then use that day to invite everyone to a party. And the bitchy remarks are endless and completely unprovoked.

I swear my DH (over 60) has lost his filter along the way too.

we were at a restaurant a few months back with extended family.

Our Wait staff was in a jovial mood and talk flowed beyond the normal service staff banter. Anyhow DH said something to him that actually sounded flirty and that had both myself and family looking at him in surprise.

We’ve been back with the same family members and the Gent was working again but not our table. He certainly recognised DH and was visibly happy but unable to approach us.

we reminded DH of the conversation but he doesn’t remember what he said of course. It was just a blah blah thing to him at the moment.

but yes if there had been a pool noodle available at the time I would have hit him over the head with it. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

What he did was not okay because he objectified you to some another man to show himself off. What may be a tiny, microscopic, talking electron microscope here, point in his favor, is your husband thinks you're smoking hot. However, that in no way obviates his bad behavior.

I don’t think what he said indicates this at all. In any way

I am fairly confident my ears were not playing tricks on me!

It’s up to you really. Did it offend you, if it did tell husband.

Ewg9 · 21/06/2026 20:39

It is really inappropriate and probably made the lad uncomfortable...he thinks he's funny but he's a creep.

Cheeky chappy?

come on, let’s stop using these phrases and say it
jpw it is. He’s rude, inappropriate, misogynistic, creepy.

SouthLondonMum22 · 21/06/2026 19:21

Of course he crossed the line. He's in his 50's, 'cheeky chappy' is how I might describe my 3 year old.

Sounds like he needs to grow up.

Cyclingsar · 21/06/2026 19:11

Thebigonesgetaway · 21/06/2026 09:53

Where did I say that? I said both of you. You said nothing at rh3 rime, walked along with them and even refer to your husband as a cheeky chappy and this as a “bit off”

it’s not a bit off, it’s creepy and grim. This young man was accosted in the car park by the both of you, with your husband talking about his body and making jokes about fucking you. Yoire both old enough to be his parent or grandparent,

my daughter is the same age, if a middle aged couple approached her and started talking about her body and making jokes about fucking one of them, I’d be outraged,

If she’s as highly strung as her mother sounds, she could probably do with taking them up on their offer!
