Not all men, but always men

Driving home from work tonight to the main news stories on the radio being 1) man tortures adopted baby to death and 2) man arrested after child ends up in crocodile enclosure at zoo.

I am absolutely sick of the daily onslaught of problematic men, monsters, committing outrages. That’s all, no suggestions, just AIBU to be sickened by this constant stream of beasts who live amongst us (Gisele Pelicot’s husband, recent terrorist attacks, daily murders of women by men) combined with personal experiences of men who ‘you wouldn’t have thought it to look at him’ turning out to be sex pests and paedophiles is putting me right off them as a sex class. Not your man, not your son, not my (lovely) Dad, but all the other men… how do we know which ones?

Its hard not to conclude it’s a man problem.

That’s not true. Fathers murder at roughly double the rate of mothers.

Most children are harmed by a biologically unrelated male living in their home.By a huge margin.

Women are more intelligent and get away with their crimes?

Why are you making things up? Why are you grasping at straws?
Why are you insinuating the police don’t charge women with crimes?

You simply can't help yourself can you? It's like every opportunity. Ding ding, Pavlov's dog.

You can’t either.

It’s not all men when your agenda suits apparently.

You’re protecting certain sectors of the male population when it doesn’t suit your narrative.

MummyWillow1 · 18/06/2026 22:16

MightyDandelionEsq · 18/06/2026 20:36

This is absolute nonsense.

I wouldn’t travel to many countries as a lone woman and unfortunately, irrespective of skin colour there are certain cultures where violence and misogyny are the norm (not the exception) against women. Covering up to stop these men assaulting you is the minimum expectation.

Iraqs age of consent is 9yo. These men are going to have far more warped views of what is acceptable behaviour against women and girls.

So many people fear being called racist when let’s be honest, there are so many countries you daren’t go alone as a woman and the men that inhabit them are the issue.

Edited

It still isn’t all men but always a man. You are just reiterating the same problem but making it about race. How many different ways do you need it explaining. If you make it about race you are making it a race issues rather than a man issue - it is still a man issue.

Happyjoe · 18/06/2026 22:15

MightyDandelionEsq · 18/06/2026 21:27

No - men.

Culture is important.

This is why for example Japan has female only trains due to issues with the native men upskirting, sexually assaulting and raping the women.

Being aware is not bashing. Being aware is being risk averse as a woman based on stats.

My issue is if we have a VAWG and misogynistic problem then we should probably be aware of importing more of it.

neitherleftnorright · 18/06/2026 22:14

Sorry haven't read whole thread but informed by Google that 4% of the prison population are women. The figures speak for themselves.

MummyWillow1 · 18/06/2026 22:13

Tryingiton · 18/06/2026 20:33

But you wouldn’t take the risks of travelling alone in some countries as a woman ? Why is that ?

I wouldn’t go out alone in some places in the UK, but the colour of the man’s skin isn’t the reason why.

I was SA’d by an Asian man in my teens, that doesn’t mean I now think all Asian men will SA someone.

Stop using excuses to be a bigot, just admit you are racist and own it.

Baby P, Victoria Climbe, Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, and Star Hobson were all murdered by women, to name but a few.

Baby P, there were two men who participated in the abuse and along with Peter's mother were convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child. One of the males was convicted at a later trial of raping a two year old
Victoria Climbe murdered by her great aunt and the aunt's boyfriend
Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, his step mother was convicted of murder and his father was convicted of manslaughter
Star Hobson was killed by her mother's girlfriend who got 25 years and the mother herself got 12 years for causing or allowing the death of a child. So in all but one of these horrific and devastating cases men were equally culpable. Not that this in any way mitigates or excuses the vile actions of the women but there were men who not only did nothing to protect these poor children, they activelyparticipated in the crimes

Over40Overdating · 18/06/2026 22:09

Jellycatspyjamas · 18/06/2026 20:00

It’s not always men though, there are a fair few women who harm their own children, who kill their own children.

There’s not ‘a fair few’ - the numbers are vastly different. I’m curious though @Jellycatspyjamas why you felt that was the best response to what is a very fair post about being exhausted by the scale of violence committed against women and children by men. Do you the NAMALTS give you a pat on the head? Tell you you’re not like other girls? Defending men by trying to make false equivalence will not save you.

Not all men, yes, and certainly not any of the men I know and love - but those coming back with ‘but women…’ are being deliberately disingenuous.

93% of murders world wide are committed by men and of the women, the majority of those are committed in concert with men and/or instigated by the male partner in crime. 99% of sexual crimes are committed by men. 65-70% of financial crime is also perpetrated by men.

To deny there is an issue with men means that you cannot have an honest, constructive conversation or explore and address the reasons why. We can’t change society, change the way we educate men, the way we raise our sons, without understanding this.

We have to stop trying to stymie the conversation with the ‘oh but not all men’ counter - despite it being blindingly bloody true - because it is only stated for fear of offending. And we need to do this, not least, because it is other men who are more likely to be their victims (in terms of murder, financial fraud, muggings, knife crime, gang related incidents etc). Sexual crime and DV obviously impacts women disproportionately. If we want to protect children, women AND other men [the ones who are ‘not like that’] - ie everyone in society - we need to be able to have this discussion.

I completely agree with this statement, as I first stated in my earlier post. But any discussion of this nature will always end up in one big argument.
I think we have sleep walked into where we are now. I know it has always happened but not on the scale it has reached now. I believe there are many factors involved, but nothing and no-one is ultimately to blame except for the person carrying out the act.

There are about 2 men’s prisons for every woman’s prison - what does that tell you?

And for high security prisons, the difference is even more stark: the vast majority of female prisoners have been convicted of non violent crimes such as fraud or theft.

I think men should be allowed express their feelings more. As I am getting older (mid 40s!), I am noticing just how alarmed people get if men are anyway stressed or angry. Everyone immediately reacts strongly. We wonder then why men aren't good at expressing their feelings. It would be great if men felt safe enough to express how they feel. It's ironic because there is a big push now by many men ensuring that women feel safe enough to express theirs. It would be good if men feel safe to express theirs too

Edited

Men don’t feel safe to express their feelings because of other men.

IdBeLionIfISaid · 18/06/2026 22:07

97%
97% of violent crime is committed by men.

I've said this today on here I'll say it again. No one is saying women don't murder.

But I'm pretty sure I've never heard of a case of a baby fucking orally raped to death by a woman.

Clafoutie · 18/06/2026 22:07

MrFlintstone · 18/06/2026 21:50

Jesus, what a thread.
Yes more crimes of whatever nature are committed by men, no escaping it, it's true.
But do you really think creating a thread like this is really going to help matters. Instead of venting on here and whipping up a storm, why didn't you take that anger and write to your MP or something. The only way to achieve anything, is by working together, not causing further divides.
And just think of this, does anyone on here really know who's on here, how do you know that someone might be reading this thread, get wound up, then do something stupid, might sound extreme, but you just never know.

The problem is though is that it seems men ( on the whole, again, not all men), do not appear to have the same visceral anger about this issue ( male violence) as women do. Until we hear other men speaking out about this in the same terms and with the same frequency as women, nothing will change. Writing to an MP can be done, of course, but women need to be able to share how this is making them feel, and this is often done by talking to each other, even via social media sites like this. There are drawbacks for sure, but keeping low key and polite isn’t going to cut it.

StripyHorse · 18/06/2026 20:17

I am sure there was a similar British case too of a man drugging his wife for other men to rape.

Yes , I read about it today. Three women have come forward.

I can’t believe people are focusing on ‘always’ and the thread title and choosing to make their points about it not always being men. Absolute handmaidens.

The horrors of today’s case are unreal, inhumane, systematic torture of a baby, by a man, daily, for months.

Now I can’t spot the monsters, we as a society can’t spot them, there are so very many of them - but if it makes you feel better, ok it’s not always men. I mis-titled it and can’t edit it.

But Jesus Christ the monsters are largely men and you’re missing the point coming on here to say women can be monsters too. My point and my opinion is I am absolutely sick of hearing about these men. Look around you. Not just baby rapists, men killing women with crossbows (after raping them), men using power to abduct women, men killing kids in a dance class, men attempting to behead people, the Putney Pusher, thousands of child sexual abusers each year, paedophile rings, a woman killed every four days in the Uk by her partner…. all males.

Women do murder, but for other reasons. Only men murder for sexual gratification. That poor wee boy.

Women may have murdered children out of desperation: no support, no money, domestic violence against her and or the children, at her wit's end and no help in sight. But this man killed this baby to

satisfy himself sexually

It's hard to even think that thought

but some posters say "women do it too". No, they don't do that. No they bloody don't.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 18/06/2026 21:47

Yep. The news broke of an elderly lady found dead here in Ireland. A man 30’s arrested and charged. He didn’t only take her precious life, her tortured her in the most brutal way for a few euros.
I know that there are good men too but the constant news cycle of violence is disturbing. The drug epidemic is not helping the problem, something is going terribly wrong in society.
