Not all men, but always men

Driving home from work tonight to the main news stories on the radio being 1) man tortures adopted baby to death and 2) man arrested after child ends up in crocodile enclosure at zoo.

I am absolutely sick of the daily onslaught of problematic men, monsters, committing outrages. That’s all, no suggestions, just AIBU to be sickened by this constant stream of beasts who live amongst us (Gisele Pelicot’s husband, recent terrorist attacks, daily murders of women by men) combined with personal experiences of men who ‘you wouldn’t have thought it to look at him’ turning out to be sex pests and paedophiles is putting me right off them as a sex class. Not your man, not your son, not my (lovely) Dad, but all the other men… how do we know which ones?

Its hard not to conclude it’s a man problem.

I spend my working life as a journalist in courtrooms. In more than two decades in this job I’ve seen two women convicted of sexual offences against children and a very small handful of other physical abuse.

By contrast, there are at least 5 men in just my courthouse every single day convicted of sexual offences motivated by a sexual interest in children. 99 per cent of those are white men. If anything, ‘people from other cultures’ (whatever that means) are hugely under-represented per head of population.

I’ve only seen one asylum seeker convicted of sexual offences against children. He was 17, had extremely severe mental health problems and had been trafficked from Afghanistan.

The problem, in the main, is white British men and to a lesser extent white Eastern European men. Men with black or brown faces don’t even make a ripple in my court room.

I hope you're ok. It is really hard recording this kind of thing for work. Whenever I have needed to cover sexual assault, child sexual assault, murder, horrendous death, ethnic cleansing etc it has really affected me after I have gone home and tried to decompress from the trauma. It never hits at work (except Beslan which left me sobbing in a corner). I always hits later when I'm trying to sleep or make sense of the fucked up world we live in.

I hope you are getting the mental health support you need xx

96% of the prison population is male. Just dwell on that.

Rochdale paedophile ring. 61men involved - three were white. And where child abuse is concerned it’s statistically proven that women - mothers - are largely the culprits because they are the care givers. Sexual abuse is not the only form of abuse. Non related men joining the family unit is where men represent the biggest threat. Do you not think that women are at least some way to blame for that by putting their need for a dick before their children ?

  1. There are on average c.7000 convictions a year for CSA.
MeganM3 · 18/06/2026 21:42

Agree with the OP. But I also agree with the poster arguing that sexual harassment is worse from men (it’s always men!) from some other cultures. I can’t stand having to pretend this isn’t true. I don’t want it to be true, as a liberal Londoner, and I hate all the Reform people. But I grew up in London and as a teenager circa 2005 and yes it was predominantly non-white, newly arrived, MEN who would be sexually threatening and we all knew to be wary of. Why is it hushed up so much. It seemed like there were a different set of rules for them and they could get away with being abusive as we didn’t know how to call it out or were just very used to it. But it was hard to deal with as a young female. It would happen anywhere, the park, on the tube, the bus stop. And I don’t think anything’s changed.

Baby P, Victoria Climbe, Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, and Star Hobson were all murdered by women, to name but a few.

Ok? Go and start your own thread about violent women then.

safetyfreak · 18/06/2026 20:05

There's always one, isn't there...🙄

Yes women commit crimes, duh, but not at the same scale as men.

I presume PP was addressing the clear inaccuracy in the thread title - as it is indeed far more often men who commit these kinds of crimes; but it patently isn't always men, as claimed. It weakens the point being made when people deliberately choose sensationalist hyperbole over the facts, which are already appalling enough.

Even in the horrific case of the vile monsters who abused and murdered little Preston, as cited in the OP, Preston's mum is a violent murderer too.

Only because our government are too cowardly to actually record the official statistics. Have a look at the danish records ! Or Germany! It’s not a myth and trying to pretend it is just makes you look like a do gooder who remains largely unaffected by the continuing influx of men from less than desirable cultures.

It would be nice if we could avoid twisting this right away into a whole other debate. It detracts from the OP’s point, which is that it is MEN ( not all men) as opposed to women. I agree with the OP, and I feel it’s important to keep that focus.

shuggles · 18/06/2026 21:37

@Amodernhistory It is very, very much, by a huge majority, largely men committing violent crime and largely men receiving whole life orders for acts of absolute depravity.

I'm a man, and I agree that your statement is 100% correct. As you said, almost every violent crime and depraved act is committed by a man. It is very rare and unusual for women to commit similar crimes.

The part that everyone overlooks though, and which everyone refuses to discuss, is why these violent and depraved men have no difficulty finding partners or relationships. Ian Watkins and Ian Huntley were both swamped with love letters in prison. What's that about, and why is that not being addressed?

MrsMcGarry · 18/06/2026 21:33

Meadowfinch · 18/06/2026 20:11

There's another story about a man who shot his cousin at a funeral.

WTF is wrong with these men? Are they born sick and evil? Have they taken so many drugs their brains are mush? Or are they just so selfish and rotten to the core that they think they are entitled to behave as they do.

I have a son, I hate that I automatically distrust most men, but I do. 🙁

Edited

It's pure entitlement, socialised into them from a young age, and acceptance of that entitlement is socialised into girls.

And every single mother and father out there has the power to stop that, it's just a long and slow process.

Male entitlement is why even wonderful adorable men like my husband and son are sometimes twattishly lazy - and why really horrible men are violent and rapey.

Oh jesus, this has turned into another immigrant bashing thread. Sigh

No - men.

Culture is important.

This is why for example Japan has female only trains due to issues with the native men upskirting, sexually assaulting and raping the women.

Being aware is not bashing. Being aware is being risk averse as a woman based on stats.

My issue is if we have a VAWG and misogynistic problem then we should probably be aware of importing more of it.

There are about 2 men’s prisons for every woman’s prison - what does that tell you?

not quite…there are around 110 male prisons in England and wales. Just 11 for women.

96% of the prison population are men. Women prisoners are also far less likely to have committed violent crimes compared to men.

She was a sleep consultant, so she's probsbly heard similar from hundreds of parents at the end of their rope when their baby isn't sleeping and never imagined for 1 minute her own brother could do something so evil. Nobody could imagine that, so let's not blame a woman here.

I am not blaming her. But I had 2 non sleeping babies, and can't ever imagine saying " He's dead meat today" to anyone.

Tryingiton · 18/06/2026 21:19

fartotheleftside · 18/06/2026 20:27

The rate of mothers murdering their children vs fathers murdering their children are about 50/50 in fact.

Men are more likely to murder other men’s children. Brought into the home by women. That part is true.

One thing that did strike me in the Davey case: Jamie Varley confessed his violent thoughts to his sister. Why didn't she report him or take the baby away? I would have. This isn't to blame her exactly. Perhaps she didn't realise he was a pedophile. But just goes to show how " good" men can get away with murder.

Yes, am absolutely resentful. So much attention and effort at managing these males, hugely out of proportion the societal effort at managing females.

Agree on the resentment, and also on the level of depravity. Glad that guy is never getting parole; I hope it means that the courts have started taking it seriously.

I read it was an autistic man with his carer but that might not be true.

I read same. That was also true of the man who threw that young French boy 100ft off the Tate Modern viewing gallery and nearly killed him, I read he was with his carer at the time.

I also had a career as a court reporter from 2001-2013. I appreciate it's some time ago but my experience was the same. I only ever covered one case of a woman who committed murder and she killed a man who had been abusing her.

MightyDandelionEsq · 18/06/2026 21:15

Bloozie · 18/06/2026 21:07

I don’t excuse any man, and I’m not blind to what men all over the world do.

I am also not blind to folk like you sucking all the oxygen from the debate and blowing it at non-white men. I would like to examine men as a class - their entitlement, their anger issues. The common denominator is man. I don’t give a shit what colour or religion the man is. Why do you?

Because we take stats to make things better. It works the opposite way whereby we found black women had worst maternal outcomes so we need to combat that. We found black men are more likely to have prostate cancer so they’ll be getting more access to testing than white men.

It’s okay then but it’s not okay to point out how different cultures affect the danger/risk to women and girls? Should we ignore Andrew Tates influence because he’s also a Muslim or is that okay because he’s white? It’s hypocritical not to look at it as a whole and then smear others who notice patterns.

PurpleLovecats · 18/06/2026 21:13

This case is a bit different though isn’t it? The suspect is a man with learning difficulties and we need to wait and see how this all unfolded.

Femosphere · 18/06/2026 21:11

The polarisation of the sexes will do no one any good. The manosphere can link to these threads just as much as the anti-male rhetoric in the ever expanding femosphere. Feeding more anger and more hate.

How you break the cycle is where the energy needs to be focused, Man hating mums are never going to give anyone a good start, and neither are woman hating dads,

Im not man hating, but you can’t solve a problem if you can’t name the problem. The problem is male violence
