Furious with DH’s new England flag

NC’d for this. About half the houses on our street put flags up during the big football tournaments. DH put one up with his teams badge on at the weekend, and took delivery of a new flag today. He’s proudly displayed this - it’s a St George’s cross with ‘In Farage We Trust’ printed across the middle 😫

I’ve told him to take it down and that the neighbours will judge but he’s standing firm. Would it be wrong of me to tear it down myself?!

None that I know of but you said you couldn't think of anything more abhorrent than racism. No context was given.

Just look at the quote history @saveforthat

The context is contained therein

That would give me an ick big enough to leave him. Show him some of reforms policies for women and see if he still supports him.

Jesus all these racist accusations flying around. I actually believe that @JuliaMaesa may be joking here but not all Farage supporters are racists.

Let's be honest, there's a pretty strong correlation.

Lndnmummy · 17/06/2026 18:35

@MNHQ why was my post deleted?

Yes, I agree. Reddit anyone! I seem to remember a similar thread last year when all the flags were going up on lamp posts.

I’m slightly offended by that, as if I’d ever post on there. At least you didn’t say Tattle, the dregs on there.

TheGreatDownandOut · 17/06/2026 18:27

If that flag was on any of my neighbours houses I wouldn’t even notice. But I do walk around with my head up my arse most of the time and am not prone to frothing over stuff.

Hmm. Bit of a drip feed there, OP!

Really?

Which political parties advocate for assault and murder as part of their manifesto @saveforthat?

No it’s not a case of opposing other flags. He said it will ‘get all the right people frothing’ so he knows it will wind some neighbours up.

Well it's certainly got people on here frothing. Some of the comments are hilarious. Ooh the outrage over a flag.

OP in the real world I doubt anyone will take any notice.

Not even assault or murder, really?

Lexy2345 · 17/06/2026 18:20

Take it down for goodness sake, you can’t have that hanging up. Unless you too, are a right wing racist?

DeLaLune2022 · 17/06/2026 18:16

I would leave him.

SingtotheCat · 17/06/2026 18:15

What would happen if you took it down, OP?

YABVU for not posting a link to the seller so real patriots can buy one for themselves.

Real patriots? How embarrassing

Or rape? Obviously the authorities who ignored the grooming gangs agreed with you.

TemperanceWest · 17/06/2026 18:12

Pistachiocake · 17/06/2026 17:52

A lot of the Reform voters seem to want Zia Yusuf as PM, from posts I've seen, so if you take racist to mean only wanting white people in the UK, agreed. And no, I'm not a Reform voter, but the only people I know who say they're voting Reform are minority ethnic.
I don't put flags up myself, but it's only very recently that some people seem to think of it as problematic (yes, OP, your flag is a new one, but I mean that I don't remember anyone complaining, or thinking I should be offended, by the normal England flag).

Yes I have seen a couple of posts like that too. Their ignorance is a bit cringe worthy. It is to be hoped they are bots, really.

Eideann · 17/06/2026 17:47

I really cannot think of anything more abhorrent than racism @saveforthat

but then I may very well be holier than thou...not, perhaps educated?

MasterBeth · 17/06/2026 18:06

Well, pretty obviously Andy Burnham will be next PM, so not sure we can trust your political knowledge.

I don't think he will. I think there's every possibility he won't win a leaderhsip challenge, even if he wins the by-election.

I am not a Conservative, but I think Badenoch is doing really well (surprisingly well for me) and fully expect that by the next GE, Reform will have self destructed and the Conservatives will be electable again.

PetiteParakeet · 17/06/2026 18:07

“In Farage we trust” is such a mad slogan. I was just reading an article the other day about the negative impact Brexit’s had on the UK economy. And yet the politician whose whole career was based on conning the country into unilaterally imposing tariffs on itself as a massive act of national self-harm somehow gets a platform to spout more crap and convince people that yet again everything is the fault of migrants, climate science is made up, etc. - plus lack of scrutiny over his dodgy donations.
In a sane world he would have retired from the public stage in ignominy. Sadly we don’t live in a sane world.

Is it his witty repartee that got you/AI into bed?

Flagissue · 17/06/2026 17:56

Londonwelshie · 17/06/2026 17:46

And what neighbours are those? Immigrants by any chance?

Either way, his desire to wind up his neighbours is not very neighbourly... and you will be judged the same as him by your neighbours.

Any ‘woke lefties’ is what he said.
