If you support Reform, Restore, Greens and similar far right/left parties

How do you feel about the fact that your support is being whipped up by Russia, in concerted attacks, for the specific purpose of sowing division and political instability in Britain? Is this giving you any pause for thought? Do you think you will go back to supporting traditional parties?

Do you think the party you support has a strong platform to defend the country against clear and present danger from very powerful nations which are taking active measures to harm us? Or put another way, are you prepared to entertain the very real possibility that the party you support is propped up by foreign influence and money that are actually using you as pawns in a political game that will destroy all of us, including yourself?

You mentioned rotas. Don't you understand what it means?

Of course I do.

You mentioned that it seemed to be a pp's turn today. As the pp had been actively engaged in the spreading of disinformation earlier in the thread, I asked if it was there was a rota for doing this.

Now that's settled, are you going to tell me what you think was ironic about my post? A dictionary might help if you aren't sure of the meaning.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/06/2026 09:56

I wouldn’t put the Greens in this category but otherwise YANBU

I cannot believe people can’t see this, and won’t even believe it when told outright. The russian information war has been being fought for a long time. That’s how bad it is - and people are accusing you of being brainwashed and a well-meaning and competent PM of somehow being the cause of the division he’s trying to fight.

We are sleep walking into authoritarian regime and I don’t know how we can stop it based on the responses you’ve had.

They beggar belief. But this is the russian playbook 100%. Spread so many lies that no one will believe the truth.

Do you understand what irony means? If so, what exactly is it that you think is ironic?

That is interesting. And, of course, Lebedev appointed George Osborne, Cameron's former Chancellor, as Editor of the paper.

Osborne also carried on being the Conservative MP for Tatton - they were too worried about the results of a by-election. So did he do both jobs in London and Cheshire well?

Not until 2017.
And who was Jeremy Corbyn's director of communications at the time?

Jeremy Corbyn's aide Seumas Milne was pictured shaking hands with the Russian president Vladimir Putin at last year's Sochi summit, which is designed to boost Putin's ego.

…And to add, one of the people interviewed in the investigation is Dr Daniela Richterova, Senior Lecturer in Intelligence Studies at the Department of War Studies at King’s College. “Her research focuses on contemporary issues related to state-based threats and counterterrorism, she is director of the MA in Intelligence and International Security, co-director of the King’s Centre for the Study of Intelligence and she also co-convenes the Cambridge Intelligence Seminar, and teaches on the Cambridge Security Initiative’s specialist course in International Security and Intelligence.”
I recognised her as she was a speaker at an event I attended last year on the way Russia now operates its global spy network, and how they have moved on from their so-called Illegals program. It’s very interesting if you want to research it and make your own mind up.
BBC or not you would think that people who call themselves patriotic would care about foreign powers meddling, what kind of mental contortions do you have to do to tell yourself that it’s irrelevant?

Probably the same contortions that others were through in downplaying the Mandelson appointment.

Immigration level is too high and is an emergency
Tories and labour both shockingly terrible

I was hoping someone might mention the former KGB officer.

22 Jan 2009
Lord Mandelson has 'no plans' for inquiry into Evening Standard sale.

Mandelson has no intention to intervene despite Tory MP's call for inquiry into sale of London title to former KGB officer,

The Russian oligarch's past has raised questions about whether he is fit to run a national newspaper. Ottoway first raised the matter with Andy Burnham, the culture secretary, during a debate on Monday. Extract from Hansard here;

Richard Ottaway
The Secretary of State will be aware that the Evening Standard is at the centre of London’s local news media industry. Under the circumstances, might it not be appropriate to conduct an inquiry into whether a former KGB member is a fit and proper person to own that newspaper?

Andy Burnham
The Evening Standard is indeed a well-loved part of London life—a view held on both sides of the House, I hasten to add—and, whatever changes are in the offing, it should maintain its character and journalistic standards on all counts. I am sure that, like me, the hon. Gentleman will accept that what matters is not an individual’s nationality but the plans that they have to uphold those standards and that character...

Russia isnt going to invade. They don't need to. They pay traitors like Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farage to wreck the UK for them.🤷‍♀️

Exactly. Why would Russia want to physically invade the UK anyway?

Well a former head of M15 this morning seems to take it seriously, so that should tell you what you need to know?
the BBC may be biased in its reporting and new reading but they are still capable of very good investigations. They have twice managed to identify the ringleaders of small boat crossing operations for instance. See the podcast To Catch a Scorpion on BBC sounds: “The series follows the real-time hunt for Barzan Majeed, an Iraqi-Kurdish national codenamed "Scorpion", mastermind behind one of Europe's most prolific organized crime syndicates, responsible for smuggling thousands of migrants across the English Channel”, and To Catch a King (“Hosted by journalist Sue Mitchell and former soldier Rob Lawrie, the series tracks an international search for a shadowy kingpin responsible for smuggling thousands of migrants into the UK via lorries and small boats.”) There has also been quite a few investigations into smuggling-related dodgy money-laundering shops recently. Are these not true either because they were investigated by the BBC?
Its actually well-known that this is how Russia now operates, they no longer have a specialist spy network, they just target hard-up people via social media to carry out attacks - it’s cheaper and effective. So much the better if people then thinks it sounds far-fetched when it’s exposed.

FAR and away the most economically damaging policies of the last 50 years have been unsustainably high taxation (and often to pay for economically illiterate things like Net Zero).

Both parties were and are to blame for this.

And yet other countries have higher tax burdens than the UK and seemingly have a higher quality of life (Belgium, Denmark for example) so, no, I don't think it's high taxation that's been the biggest issue. It's the cost of housing (because Right to Buy made housing aspirational) and the poor quality and high cost of utilities (because profits need to be maximised).

For what? I just pointed out what Cornish actually said. I haven't misrepresented the comments.

As an aside, some of the comments on Yusuf's Facebook page are very funny. One can only hope they are bots and not real people.

Russia has been so successful in this active measure. Tommy Robinson was over there last week saying it's a civilised country and not our enemy. He's reposting Russian propaganda, and the Russian state is reposting his reposts!

Meanwhile Russia are conducting hybrid war against our shore constantly.

Former Welsh leader of Reform UK, Nathan Gill, was convicted of taking bribes to give pro-Russian speeches. Nigel Farage takes a pro-Russian stance on the Ukraine war, and has been paid to speak on Russian state media. Russia is baked into Reform UK.

Defence is a peripheral need don't you know. It's not like we've actually got to be alive to enjoy generous benefits.

FAR and away the most economically damaging policies of the last 50 years have been unsustainably high taxation (and often to pay for economically illiterate things like Net Zero).

Both parties were and are to blame for this.

The unsustainably high taxation has also come from RWP, as they continually lower the higher rates and recover the losses through stealth taxes that disproportionately affected the working and middle classes.

And 'economically illiterate things like net zero, has created over 1.1 million jobs, generating £105 billion in GVA, pays an average wage roughly 11% higher than the national average, and has an investment pipeline of right half a trillion waiting to go.

JustTryingToBeMe · 16/06/2026 09:01

Yellownotblue · 15/06/2026 23:24

What exactly is your concern here - is it that you don’t believe that healthier, more active lifestyles would free up 1.7million GP appointments a year and make us all wealthier (as well as healthier), or that your cost-benefit analysis shows that the money would be better invested in defence? If so on what grounds? Or do you think the government should only be pursuing defence to the exclusion of everything else?

I hope that you have started your Russian lessons ready for when they invade because without any reliable defence forces, it won’t take much.
