Trooping the colour booing

AIBU to think this was well deserved?

Kate can glower at people as much as she wants but the monarchy is a rotten institution and people are getting more and more annoyed by it

Oh that's OK then, so long as they don't mingle with any povvos so they never realise how privileged they are 😂

Yes they will stay away from the likes of us.

Poppinpoppinpopcorn · 15/06/2026 12:08

I think there's a security risk for the Wales children. Theirs was the only carriage to have a line of policemen walking either side. None of the other carriages had it and it's never happened before. I think something's going on, plus I noticed George and Charlotte where a lot more subdued than normal

They don't know they are privileged as everyone they mix with will have the same as them, albeit more private wealth, but day to day their friends will be as rich as them.

I didn't see Kate glowering however if someone were to be shouting aggressively about my childrens family while they were passing, I'd do more than glower. Awful people to have acted like that. Poor kids.

whippersnapper55 · 15/06/2026 11:57

I think that they have to accept it's part of being in an institution that not everyone agrees with. They live lives of extraordinary privilege and I would imagine they can cope with a bit of booing. I think Katherine was watching them in case anyone made a move towards her and the children, or in anticipation of someone maybe throwing something, which is what any protective mother would do. But I don't actually think the protesters were doing anything wrong. We don't all have to bow and scrape to the royal family!

I think she relies on their security for that and will have been trained to not intervene in case she gets hurt. I think it's more likely she is used to being celebrated and was expecting universal cheers.

Would you accept people shouting abuse at your children? Why should she then ?

What abuse did they shout? The video I've seen just has them shouting 'Not My King'.

Have I missed something?

KaleidoscopeSmile · 15/06/2026 11:39

Well it's a bit braver than booing from the safety of a crowd

Edited to say you're BU for putting this shit in AIBU instead of the RF board.

Edited

Most people on that board love the Royals, a few are very anti Royal. Placing it on AIBU gets the less extreme opinions so it’s better it’s here.

ButtercupYellow26 · 15/06/2026 12:01

Bore off.
This country has much bigger issues to worryabout right now.
Only massive twats behave like that when children are involved.
Rather have Trump? Putin????

HolidayWithHounds · 15/06/2026 11:59

It can’t be nice for the children, but their parents should stop parading them around at these events if they don’t want them seeing it. People say that the children have to be part of these things because they’re in training and have to get used to Royal life, well then based on that argument they need to see that some people don’t want them, that’s all part of this so called training too then.

The way the children were used at Christmas was appalling. They were taking selfies with strangers, Charlotte even hugged one of them and William introduced all of his children to a man who is basically a stalker. They use their kids to gain favour, look everyone cute kids, so I don’t have much sympathy when they get a dose of the other side.

They should parent and protect their children better, but if they won’t and continue to use them at events, then they’re going to see these things because we allow protesting, as we should.

Opinions may vary. They’ll have to cope with that.

The children arguably benefit in that they are very unlikely to ever be in the position of lacking basic needs, material things, opportunities, and even what most would consider luxuries (look at Andrew, for example) - but that shouldn't be a benchmark as no child and no human should lack access to those things. Their perceived "privilege" only makes sense because we live in a society where others are intentionally, structurally, and systemically underprivileged. That aside, something about the lifelong, inescapable Royal fishbowl makes their situation different from just rich kids or celeb kids in general.

You don’t dismantle the police, or the BBC, or any other organisation that had a bad apple. You build safeguards and make sure they don’t get the opportunities in future.

They’ll inevitably marry people who are as privileged and wealthy as they are. And they’ll never face the possibility of having to live out their last days in a substandard care home.

The same miserable bunch who will sit scowling when the England football team play.

I feel sympathy in a way, because they’ve been used as shields by their family. But they benefit massively.

Benefit in what way, used as shields how? Why shouldn't they protect their kids like any other parent? Your OP isn't exactly showing you in a good light if you think booing kids is something to feel proud of.

MintTwirl · 15/06/2026 11:39

I’m not against the booing tbh.
I feel for the kids though, one of my children was born at the same time as George and I remember thinking how sad it is that his whole life was mapped out already as a newborn whereas mine would be able to grow and be whoever he was meant to be.

Who are the booers and why are they booing? Trooping the Colour is on one of our big traditions, attracting big crowds. Anyone who is not happy with it is free to fuck off

Because it's what spiteful cunts do. Full of hate and still living in the past. Never looking inwards, mocking and bitching about the monarchy and nice sunny days out for patriots.

MrsShawnHatosy · 15/06/2026 11:31

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 15/06/2026 11:25

I’m not sure the children benefit massively. They’re pretty much bred into captivity and paraded around for the peasants to clap/jeer/gawp at.

It’s not a life I’d want for my children.

This is why I think the European “economy” versions of the monarchy are so much better than our “luxury” version involving hundreds of hangers on and thousands of grace and favour homes. All the monarch’s children other than the heir are brought up in the expectation of earning their own living, and I think even the King of the Netherlands worked for KLM as a pilot before acceding to the throne.

Cheese55 · 15/06/2026 11:30

No benefit at all. They get shipped off to b school as teenagers, albeit not as young as they used to but its no life.
