Exactly. I’ve found that in general people who dismiss it are often pretty toxic and dysfunctional themselves and they hate that they’re made to face up to their own issues by people in their lives saying enough is enough.

Correction, all this awareness of how we can walk away from dysfunction and toxicity is to be applauded.

I always wonder if DB was disappointed that Brooklyn couldn’t make it as a footballer and made that felt, but didn’t have the same expectations of the other boys because he’d dealt with it by then.

It really does. Children grow up being made to feel responsible for whether or not dad loses his temper and/or mum has an emotional meltdown. The same children are then assigned roles and tasks to ‘fix’ things, as if they (the kids) were responsible for it in the first place.

Maybe slightly off-topic but I think the posed group photos are starting to look very strange now. I don’t know if it’s since BB dropped his bombshell earlier in the year so now it’s more open and obvious how strained and fake those posed ‘perfect family’ shots are. Or if it’s before that, since they’ve added girlfriends (who look scarily like Victoria 😳) which somehow just looks a bit gruesome, these two young women being blended into the family and made to turn up and pose…

I mean I’m sure they’re happy to be on the payroll (!) but there’s something so controlling and odd about two young women being co-opted into big family photo sessions to mark yet another of David’s marvellous achievements! I have a close family and in-laws who’ve been welcomed as part of the whole family so you could say it’s nice and it’s no more than that… but the impression given is that these two women have nothing better to do with their lives than put on their future mother-in-law’s nighties, pose on a staircase looking pouty and miserable and then go and have yet another evening of saluting David’s amazingness.

He clearly hated himself being used by his parent to promote themselves, the constant roll call to appear at yet another event to show themselves as such a wholesome family. On top of an upbringing that’s clearly caused him some issues.

He tried to ask them to follow and respect his boundaries then had to ask legally then had to publicly do so and yet they still keep fishing and poking.

He wants his name, face and financial opportunities to be controlled by himself rather than his mum and dad and that’s completely normal as an adult.

He can't help being a Beckham. I dont actually think he hates the brand. His issue is that the brand came before and above everything and he had no say for 18 or 21 years and they didn't like when he wanted to go and live his own life. As an adult. As far as I can see he isn't calling paps or buying a star.
