Is my bathroom wall art ‘tacky’

Please settle a light hearted disagreement…Hubster says the new photo/poster I’ve put up in the downstairs loo will be considered ‘tacky’ by any visitors.

It’s the Mona Lisa but she’s holding her nose - you can see it on Google.

YABU - I agree with your Hubster
YANBU - it’s harmless

YABVU for using the word hubster alone

AdventureAnonymous · 11/06/2026 19:28

Yes, it's tacky. Is that a problem?!

venus7 · 11/06/2026 19:28

Kelzzinsouth · 11/06/2026 18:50

I refuse to use the sickly ‘D’ reference!

What's wrong with 'husband'?
Everything is tacky; 'amusing' poster, the word 'hubster', and not least, 'wall art'.

5dollah · 11/06/2026 19:26

Not my cup of tea but everyone is different.

I've got a postcard mounted in a frame in my bathroom of a tyrannosaurus rex holding his little hands apart saying "I did a shit that was this big".

I actually laughed out loud at that!

I’m not too sure I’d find it funny OP. Mostly folk will just be going for a pee?? and in that case are you commenting on the woman’s anatomy(?!) Maybe for a kiddies loo as it’d be a funny thing for kids. ☺️

By suggesting the OP might be “commenting on the woman’s anatomy”, do you mean the picture could insinuate that someone’s vagina smells? Because that’s quite a leap!

I do personally think it’s tacky, however I’m sure some people come to my house and think the same 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is your home, so crack on if you like it! I don’t think any reasonable person could take issue with you displaying it.

Wingingit73 · 11/06/2026 19:24

Who cleans the loo? They make the choice.

This one would be a lot more subtly nuanced.

i love this! 😂

krustykittens · 11/06/2026 19:23

It's tacky but funny and it's in the right place, so I love it! if I didn't know you too well, I would take it as a sign that you don't take life and decor too seriously, which I would really love if the rest of your house is perfectly styled. But then I desperately want that poster of the dragon holding out a toilet roll, that says, "Your butt napkins, my lady" but we already have tasteful stuff in the downstairs loo that DH (sorry!) insists is staying.

TroysMammy · 11/06/2026 19:19

youalright · 11/06/2026 19:17

You should ai your face into the poster 🤣🤣

I refuse to use the sickly ‘D’ reference!

But you absolutely have to!

For example: DToilet would be the correct MN term for your loo

If it stands still long enough, you must use 'D'

DHamster
Dstbxmil
DNeighbour
Etc

Lonelycrab · 11/06/2026 19:16

Tacky to the power of cringe

youalright · 11/06/2026 19:15

Ok I need to get this for my bathroom. Tacky probably. Do I love it absolutely

stealthninjamum · 11/06/2026 19:15

It’s up to you but it’s definitely not my taste.

Mt563 · 11/06/2026 19:13

Who cares. It's your house, if you like it, good for you!

7238SM · 11/06/2026 19:12

Is this the one?

He’s accepted it’s staying..he gets little say in decor options, not that he’s usually interested. He gets to decide on the more manly decisions around DIY etc.

What are "manly decisions"??

Delightful in a kitchen, horrifying in a bathroom! 😂

What's wrong with 'husband' then?

myglowupera · 11/06/2026 19:06

Meh it’s fine. If someone had that in their bathroom I’d probably laugh at it. All things like that are tacky but it’s not always a bad thing. Live laugh love signs are tacky but they’re just tacky full stop.

SqueakyFromme · 11/06/2026 19:06

KitchenReno · 11/06/2026 18:50

It sounds tacky. Like something from Temu.

I've been trying to find something for my kitchen wall but I just can't find anything that feels like its not some generic kitchen art from amazon or cheesy.

i would suggest a commission from a young struggling artist, maybe worth millions in a few years like David Bowie with his Jean-Michel Basquiat collection.

snakeface · 11/06/2026 19:02

There's a collection of them

pictoosh · 11/06/2026 19:02

It's tacky but harmless imo.
I wouldn't have it tbh.
