To not support England?!

Live and work in England. Not English. My team didn’t qualify for the World Cup so I’m supporting Scotland! Lobe a plucky underdog, have some Scots heritage ( and some English to be fair) plus I NEVER support English sports teams. EVER.
Football has inevitably come up in the office and several colleagues are generally pissed off that I’m not supporting England, insist I should be etc etc. Stupidly I mentioned that I never support England … did not gone down well.
If you live here then you should etc etc

YANBU - support who you like!
YABU - you ingrate, you live in the country you should support the national team.

I have no problem with you btw. I do take issue with the several threads OP starts that are blatant in their hatred of the English. It is just weird. Just being hated because we are English.

As I Iove mine. I'm lucky in this instance because my country is Scotland and Scots, like the Irish (and Welsh tbh) are loved wherever they go.

There is nothing wrong with people supporting Scotland and the Tartan Army.

They cause a wee lump in my throat tbh as you can see the joy they're feeling, and they never cause any bother. Locals everywhere love them. We got adopted at the Euros!

You love England - I'm kind of guessing you don't love Scotland.

Why don't you just support your own team instead of getting upset by people who don't?

I’ll watch the England matches, but my allegiance will mainly lie with my favourite players - none of whom happen to play for England.

I’ll be cheering for the Netherlands, but there are a few teams that I hope will do well - Cape Verde have definitely been added to that list since their performance yesterday.

It’s just a bit of fun, and you can support whomever you like - it doesn’t mean you hate the country you live in, what an odd notion.

Aren't we all! It increases my optimism about one of my sweepstake teams, DRC! Go guys and stuff Portugal tomorrow, if only to wipe the smirk off Ronaldo's face.
Interesting how many draws there have been so far, could make the battle for second place go down to goal difference!

To be fair I would struggle these days to name the England team, I did recently ask someone when they were going to see Harry Kane at Wembley, singing not kicking!

If one England fan farts at the wrong time the UK press will make a meal out of it, I've lived in quite a few countries and have never known a media so anti their home nation, in other countries any misbaviour is brushed under the metaphorical carpet.

The nice thing about living in a nation of nations, is you can enjoy your neighbours ... currently enjoying the Bostonians being overwhelmed with the Tartan Army ... it warms the cockles it does, as DF might have said.

We’re mostly the same in Scotland except for die hard Rangers supporters.
