To not support England?!

I have never given a hoot about the outcome of any sporting event, anywhere, ever, and I'm not going to start now.

I’m English and will be supporting England but I hope Scotland do well too.

Literally no-one, man, woman or dog will give a gnat's fart anyway 🤷‍♂️

How many of us walk around with a furrowed brow during the world cup, worrying about which stranger supports which team?

All the pubs round my South London area show football and people behave themselves.
The singing however can sometimes be annoying.....

Probably in response to the weird over-zealousness so many england fans adopt. Or actually, more likely those who are only fans every couple of years for the major tournaments but could tell you little to nothing about most of the players in the squad.

I don't think anyone is offended, as I've said I just find it a bit odd and the "anyone but England" people who choose to live in England are usually just being purposely antagonistic.

If you are clearly an active supporter then most football fans will respect that.
If it's just because that's where you are from but you can't actually name any of the players then it will seem a bit fake.

I support Scotland in all sports. Not because I feel a duty to because I live here but because I identify as Scottish.
If i'm watching a sporting competition Scotlandarent't taking part in i generally support the under dog . I don't support England in anything really.

I totally agree OP you should support whoever you want at the World Cup.

I will be rooting for Scotland. Also supporting Brazil. And Japan. But I will give England a cheer if they do well.

I'm fairly well travelled and have been to football matches in most European countries. The football culture is not the same in the majority of those countries.

One of the places I work frequently is in a country whose team are not in the world cup. Most of the people there seem to be supporting whoever they've drawn in the office sweep.

It's really fucking odd to think anyone has any right to dictate who other people should support in a football tournament. It's even odder to be offended by someone not supporting the same team as you. Actually it's pathetic.

I live in London and my daughter's primary school was full of kids whose parents were from other countries. Sometimes one parent from one country and the other from a completely different one.
Asking the children "who's your team" was always a fascinating conversation.
Sometimes it wasn't England or their parent/s country but another one (often Brazil 😂).
One year their classroom was set up with flags of all the nations and photos of some of the children with "I'm supporting....." stuck to them.
To me.... that's what it's all about.
Having fun and celebration.
Obviously if you are watching an England match in a public place you shouldn't be booing them or anything because that's rude.

The main aspect of the Scottish team is supporting them 😂😂 so I get why people like to join in supporting us, no Scotland no party 🎉 🎉 I have found English colleagues and friends very rattled about Scottish people not supporting England, it would be nice if we all lived together in harmony and politics wasn't a factor, but for most Scots we have grown up being dwarfed and marginalised on a national level by England and made to feel like the much inferior little brother, so it's like siblings, could be the closest thing to you but you'd still grudge them winning. Also we keep getting the fallout of their shitty prime Ministers.
