First I ever heard of it was yesterday.

People act like it’s only non white people that do this.

A police mugshot of Alina Burns, wearing a black hooded jacket and a grey T-shirt. She has blue eyes and her blonde hair is closely shaven. She is standing against a light grey background, looking ahead with a blank expression.

Father of jailed neo-Nazi teenager says 'everyone failed her'

Alina Burns, 19, was jailed in May for attempting to behead a barber.

It is two tier. She has gone to prison for 15 years, whereas the Nottingham killer goes to hospital.

Whiski · 10/06/2026 11:10

Why haven’t we heard of it though? This is the real two tier system that the far-right try to claim is affecting them.

This girl was radicalised so clearly it’s an act of terrorism but because she is white it is classed as a mental health issue. This is even memed time and time again in social media

I have a family member who was a sociol worker. The worst things she regularly dealt with were “worse” than the cases that made waves in the media- it’s just the way it goes to be honest.

im surprised this wasn’t a bigger story, but the Belfast incident was filmed and members of f the public intervened so I guess it was “noisier”

I take it your eyes are working. If they not, I can't help I'm afraid.

Can you provide a list of attempted beheadings in the UK in the last 5 years, with demographic info on the perps?

Do you have statistics on religiously or racially motivated attacks?

Or is this just a vibes-based position on your part?

Walkyrie · 10/06/2026 14:18

Of course this is a far right racist attack, what else could it be? The facts are plain.

Each loss of life is equal. The harm is the same.

But far far far more people have been killed by extremist Islamist terrorism in this country than far right nationalist attacks. The numbers don’t even come close.

There’s no point playing the ‘what about’ game.

LuckyHazelFox · 10/06/2026 14:17

I suppose this is the latest deflective tactic. Compare the different ways of butchery. The fact we are even talking about beheading in 2026 is shocking in itself. No pattern though.

Edited for spelling mistake.

LuckyHazelFox · 10/06/2026 14:15

OrangeCrushes · 10/06/2026 14:14

But I am serious.

If you can't clearly describe the pattern that you think you have seen, then it might be bias from reading too many right wing news sources.

What pattern?

Seriously? Sod off with your faux innocence

OrangeCrushes · 10/06/2026 14:14

I can't take such a ridiculous question, seriously.

Yes I did hear about it, it happened in an area I used to live in and was widely reported. People were shocked at her age and how young she appears for such a terrible crime.

Miramax · 10/06/2026 14:14

Both incidents are horrible..innocent people suffered:(. Is the motive behind both incidents the same?

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 10/06/2026 14:13

Do you think we shouldn't report or care about migrants attacking British on our streets? People we've allowed into our country, supported financially? Is that what this post is about?

LuckyHazelFox · 10/06/2026 14:11

A man is left lying in hospital, partially blinded and has been subjected to a terrifying attack where the butcher wanted to take his life. All this mulling over whether he intended to behead him or whether any white people have done the same, is nothing but not wanting to face uncomfortable truths. Far better to be seen as anything other than racist. I'd rather be accused of that than find any way to keep minimising and apologising for these continuing barbaric acts which have a similar well documented pattern.

Plus, she has autism and anorexia. 15 years is only 6 less than that Henry Nowaks killer got, and she didn't kill him. Seems to me an unduly harsh sentence.

My sister has autism and bulimia. She hasn’t tried to behead anybody, nor have the overwhelming majority of anybody else with either of those conditions.

She didn’t kill him, but she set out to.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/06/2026 14:04

In the last few decades we've seen some big changes in how people get news. The arrival of cable TV, digital channels, internet etc has made it possible to put out news stories all day long, endlessly repeated, and when a really nasty crime is reported over and over again on all media it makes more of an impact on the public than in the old days when it was on the front page of a newspaper one day and chip wrappings the next. This has left a lot of people with the impression that crime is worse than it used to be, which is not the case.

Also, people used to get their news from newspapers, the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. Whatever you think of them, they're all regulated within the UK. What's taken their place is social media, which is not properly regulated at all, not run from the UK and is incredibly sophisticated in the way it feeds articles to users based on algorithms. If you show an interest in stories about puppies or knitting or football, you get more of the same. If the thing that really gets you going is migration, you get more of that, but with no guarantee whatsoever that what people are saying about it is true. This has been exploited by people who certainly don't have the UK's interests at heart.

What is actually true is that in the last ten years in England and Wales there have been fewer violent crimes than there were. This corresponds with a period when immigration has increased, so there's a conundrum right there for those who want us all to believe that immigrants are disproportionately responsible for crimes.

It's interesting how the article leads with her father on how the perpetrator was failed! Why the sympathetic coverage? Because of her sex? Age? Race? How do we feel about calling her 'scum'? Is it harder than thinking of that monster in Belfast as scum?

For what it's worth, they are both monsters in my eyes. Her mental health is no excuse, and any past trauma the perpetrator in Belfast may have experienced is no excuse. The vast majority of mentally ill and traumstised people are a risk to themselves rather than others, and neither factor explains why these monsters chose hatred.

She’s scum, he’s scum. Anyone that tries to behead another person is scum.

MILLYmo0se · 10/06/2026 14:00

Violence is violence regardless, and horrific regardless but I really wonder if the Belfast attack has had the element of beheading to it to reinforce the stereotype and narrative being pushed at the minute. Obviously I wasnt there so maybe the attacker was striking him in his throat and trying to sever his head from his body rather than stabbing him in the face and skull, but it sounds like someone in the taping said he's trying to behead him and everyone jumped on that because its want they already believe
Makes no difference to the victim obviously but I forwarder if there's some orchestration going on.....I could be completely wrong about the nature of the attack though

Not harsh enough imo!

She needs to be in a mental hospital, not a prison.

Because this is a unique case in our entire history of an 1. English 2. teenage 3. girl - carrying out an attack like this. That demands investigation and reflection to understand what led to it - in the same way that the death of Jamie Bulger led to a national conversation.

And what do you know we discover a childhood blighted by failure from the state, with her homeless English family forced to live in hotel rooms, while migrants jump to the front of the housing queue.

Who radicalized her? Our upside-down malicious state did.

Where is your evidence that 'migrants jump to the front of the housing queue'? Here's some fact checking from Reuters that says the contrary. https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/asylum-seekers-jumping-social-housing-queue-claims-are-misleading-2024-12-12/

Because someone filmed the entire Belfast incident and uploaded the whole thing uncut to social media so it could circulate and be watched in full by a large number of people.

TheKittenswithMittens · 10/06/2026 13:40

I doubt it's possible for a girl to behead a fully grown man with a hand axe.

Paganpentacle · 10/06/2026 13:31

Its almost as if we haven't got enough home grown savages... we must therefore import more.

Theseagullsarenowclouds · 10/06/2026 13:27

Yes. Because I watch and listen to the news. Always have the news on with subtitles in the kitchen. And I have a paper at weekends. I even have World service at night.
