First I ever heard of it was yesterday.

People act like it’s only non white people that do this.

A police mugshot of Alina Burns, wearing a black hooded jacket and a grey T-shirt. She has blue eyes and her blonde hair is closely shaven. She is standing against a light grey background, looking ahead with a blank expression.

Father of jailed neo-Nazi teenager says 'everyone failed her'

Alina Burns, 19, was jailed in May for attempting to behead a barber.

Do you regularly hear specifically about Sudanese people trying to behead people in the street?

There is more regular violence in Sudan which is similar.

likelysuspect · 10/06/2026 18:16

Im not sure why people are so shocked by the previous posters comment about being surprised a UK person would try to behead someone as opposed to someone from Sudan

In many war torn and violent unstable countries beheadings and mutiliations of the enemy is common. Its fairly common in blood feuds which travel down the generations. So people from the ME and war torn African countries are more likely to use that method against people they see as an enemy as the ultimate insult/harm. The narrative some kids from those countries grow up with is about beheading and mutilation and gouging eyes out.

Someone who is ill enough, and the perpetrator is probably very ill I woudl imagine, will be more likely to use such a method than someone born and raised in this country and with a UK heritage where beheadings in crime is uncommon and usually done for concealment purposes.

A huge number of my service users are also ND. She does have an associated MH condition, the anorexia, this is highly common for people with ASD

My point is that Autism is not a MH condition, I replied to a poster who said it was

They were also implying that she should be in hospital rather than prison. People are not hospitals for ASD, nor even anorexia unless their anorexia is currently and acutely posing a risk to life.

That may be true but reading that article it does say she was too unwell to go to school and the father wanted a care plan. Hard to know how much she was failed wrt help with MH.

Another example is the AR Southport crime where AS is not always relevant but reading that article she could have been struggling at home without schooling.

You think it is ok to throw an autistic, anorexic young girl into jail? No wonder this country is going to the dogs. There is no human compassion or understanding in your response or in that of the authorities. Her father spelled out that she was thrown out of school because she was unwell and then neglected by medical and social services.

What she did was wrong but I don't think prison is the correct response in this case. Just look at her ffs. She looks unwell and like she would snap in two if you bumped into her.

Just calm down. She has been failed by the same state that failed all the victims in Nottingham, Belfast, Southampton. Our state services have been hollowed out over 3 or 4 decades and they just do not serve us anymore. People feel that on a day to day basis with bin collections, potholes, GP appointments, and useless politicians. It is wrong to scapegoat immigrants but I honestly think most of the anger is directed at the government, not at racialised others.

But you don’t know anything about her. How can you say she shouldn’t be in prison? She was found to be responsible for her actions by a court. How can you know better?

BackgroundInvestigation · 10/06/2026 18:15

It’s more the fact we have enough mental health issues with the indigenous population and cannot seem to manage those without having a load more of traumatised individuals to add to the mix.

And as a side comment, importing men who have absolutely no respect for women in their own countries (speaking broadly, perhaps individually they are feminists) and bring those values of lack of to the UK. Again when we have enough of our own rapists etc.

Yes, it was widely reported. We have indigenous, mentally deranged, dangerous maniacs aplenty. All the more reason for not importing foreign ones.

Autism is not a MH condition

Anorexia is not a psychosis so wouldnt really classify as an illness that she would need detainment for unless she is not eating at all and then she might be hospitalised.

But anorexia would not be a reason for trying to kill someone, her MH is irrelevant in terms of her crime.

Prison is the right place for her unless she becomes unwell in which case she might need a short general hospital stay unless she becomes psychiatrically unwell to the degree of needing detainment under the MHA

It was one white girl with an axe.

How many do you need before you’ll admit your double standards and condemn all violence?

Who is saying I don't condemn all violence. I just don't have to minimise acts which would repulse any normal person. The axe case repulsed me but it doesn't take anything away from the fact that a man has lost an eye and almost his life. How is going looking for similar cases, which don't occur with the same frequency going to change that? It's look over here not there tactics.

I have no idea what was behind it and I won't speculate.

The victims family were very graceful in their statement, they seem deeply principled and decent people

The rioters, egged on by YSL in Russia and Musk, are anything but.

Why not ? You said in your last post There are concerns, ofcourse there are but these riots are not that.. So you seemed certain in your last post that the unrest w as caused by right wing thugs and nothing more.

I fucking hate the autism excuse, in all honesty.

My son is autistic and has yet to try and behead anyone, and if he ever does, his accountability for that action does not change.

Come on, I was trying to highlight the bias in extracting a 'pattern' from selected news stories.

Come on back.

It’s not useful for indicating crime rates for teenage girls.

Autism is not a MH on its own, but around a third of those who have it also have learning disabilities. Those who have Autism are also much more likely to have severe associated mental health conditions.

A proportion of my caseload as a disability outreach worker was supporting families who were dealing with autistic adult children, many of whom were violent as a result of these conditions. Help for these families is patchy and in some areas non-existent so, as seems to have been the case with this girls’ father, they are left to struggle. So you can’t really state that prison is the right place for offenders who have these conditions without examining all the factors.

The state of MH services in the UK means that too often those with MH conditions don’t get appropriate intervention before they offend and they end up in prison instead of appropriately hospitalised.

The more citizens are called far right racists the more they will double down. Maybe the rioters aren't the only ones who should be looking at their own behaviour.

Why do you infantilize these people?

Anyone who chooses to riot, chooses this course of action.

LuckyHazelFox · 10/06/2026 18:07

BIossomtoes · 10/06/2026 18:04

It wasn’t a knife. It was an axe. But, yes, white teenage girl - nothing to see here.

I'm talking about the Manchester school stabbings by a 14 year old girl. However, looking for cases to say oh look its not just asylum seekers who stab people is really strange. It was one white girl with an axe. Is there a pattern of white girls using sharp objects, such as screwdrivers on innocent people?

DuncinToffee · 10/06/2026 18:07

ThreadGuardDog · 10/06/2026 18:03

And so it continues. So given that the unrest was sparked by a vicious attack on an innocent person by a failed asylum seeker and is by no means the first of it’s kind, what do you think was behind it ?

Edited

DuncinToffee · 10/06/2026 17:57

Then there was no need for the question how he got here.

No need for the question from whose perspective? Yours?

Im quite interested to know. I work with asylum seekers and obviously we see a lot of different types of entry.

When I heard about the Belfast attempted beheading I was not remotely shocked to hear it was not a white person.

Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such naked, self confessed prejudice.

Going looking for random knife crimes is bizarre but then so is this whole OP.

I didn't go looking! I already knew about these two incidents (among others) because I don't limit my attention to stories implicating brown-skinned immigrants.
