First I ever heard of it was yesterday.

People act like it’s only non white people that do this.

A police mugshot of Alina Burns, wearing a black hooded jacket and a grey T-shirt. She has blue eyes and her blonde hair is closely shaven. She is standing against a light grey background, looking ahead with a blank expression.

Father of jailed neo-Nazi teenager says 'everyone failed her'

Alina Burns, 19, was jailed in May for attempting to behead a barber.

Agree. You are meant to think of ISIS.

It raises the "this type of violence is alien to our culture" bar as well because you don't just have to then prove extreme violence happens here as well already. But that specifically that type of violence does. And if you do bring in examples you can be accused of whataboutery or "so we don't need even more violent men then". Which is a bait and switch.

The Shankhill butchers for example carried out knife attacks just as horrific, but calling it a near beheading is supposed to make it sound like something a group like ISIS would do.
And I don't know if it was mentioned already but the same man who was unfortunately attacked had already been a victim of an incredibly savage attack when younger (tortured, drugged, doused in flammable liquid and set on fire if you want to know). The perpetrator of that attack wasn't just a white/Northern Irish man. He was a Loyalist drug dealer from Belfast. So the idea that the paramilitaries are now so shocked/upset at the level.of violence meted out to the victim is somewhat unlikely

I feel really sorry for the victim, and talking about the past crimes against him seems prurient. But it is relevant if people are going to be being up the "Alien to our culture" garbage.

MILLYmo0se · 13/06/2026 13:36

Violence is violence regardless, and horrific regardless but I really wonder if the Belfast attack has had the element of beheading to it to reinforce the stereotype and narrative being pushed at the minute. Obviously I wasnt there, so maybe the attacker WAS striking him in his throat and trying to sever his head from his body rather than stabbing him in the face and skull, but it sounds like someone in the taping said he's trying to behead him and everyone jumped on that because its want they already believe
Makes no difference to the victim obviously but I forwarder if there's some orchestration going on.....I could be completely wrong about the nature of the attack though

JustanotherManikMumday · 10/06/2026 23:44

This one did make the news and a lot was said about the trial etc. Utterly disgusting. It doesn't matter what race or religion you are the crime should have the same punishment be it black on white, white on black, one religion against another. The crime is the same the punishment should be also. Sadly the media doesn't give the same level of cover like the courts don't give the same levels of justice.

Are you joking. A grown man sat on another (deaf) man's chest in the middle of the street, swiping at his neck and face with a big blade and gouging his eyes out. Did you not see the video? The victim is still in hospital with life-changing injuries.

A young girl ran at a grown man and swiped at him from behind. No injuries are mentioned in the article so I assume if there were any, they were minor. Her ideology is evil and wrong but probably the result of the fact that she has been denied any education because of her ill health.

The vicious, brutal man who did real damage is not British and a recent arrival, the young girl who didn't hurt anyone very much is British and has been neglected by social services, the education system, mental health services.

The riot does not make sense in any context but the anger does. Why is it so hard for some people to understand why and how context matters?

She hit him from behind with an axe. It is very possible for a smaller, weaker person to really hurt and even kill someone by hitting them with an axe from behind. Men are stronger than women but necks are fragile. It was good luck that she didn't kill him or cause worse injuries. And he was badly injured. But hitting someone in the neck with an axe is attempted murder.

I agree, better interventions earlier on would have helped but autism doesn't usually remove criminal responsibility. If we start not imprisoning people who attempt murder because they were failed earlier in their lives and have autism then sooner or later people will be protesting/rioting a violent criminal avoiding jail for those reasons. That doesn't mean you can't look at the case and learn lessons to prevent it or worse crimes happening in the future.

You’re right. She was told she’d serve a minimum of 15 years. She got the sentence because she was charged with attempted murder, if she’d hit an artery it would have been life.

Ha, yes, and if my grandmother had had wheels, she would have been a bike.

BIossomtoes · 10/06/2026 22:53

Stepsisterfromhell · 10/06/2026 22:50

She was sentenced to 19 years, which is a ridiculous sentence for that offence. I have not followed the case closely but my sense is that she got most of that time for her ideology, rather than her actions.

pinkstripeycat · 10/06/2026 22:53

Yes it was on the main news. Can’t do much about her. She’s here already, she hasn’t come in illegally. Got enough of our own criminals. Don’t need them from abroad as well.

BIossomtoes · 10/06/2026 22:45

Her victim was injured. You don’t get sent down for 15 years for nothing.

Burns approached Mahmoodi from behind and swung the axe at his neck. He was able to wrestle the weapon away from her before she could strike him again.

During sentencing at Bristol Crown Court earlier, Mahmoodi said a scar on his neck is a "daily reminder that I was nearly killed".

So can we be absolutely clear? A male immigrant attacks another man with a kitchen knife and all manner of outrage is unleashed, up to and including riots in which attempts are made to burn people alive in their homes. A radicalised 19 year old white woman takes an axe to an immigrant and MN makes excuses for her which are applauded as common sense and she apparently shouldn’t be imprisoned. Make it make sense.

She probably was too ill to go to school, many ASD kids have EBSA and/or she might not have been eating enough and perhaps had deficiences etc

Much of what is termed MH conditions and disorders for people with ASD is seen as 'behavioural' by CAMHS and MHT because its not a condition that can be treated as such, its an expression and habitual display of behaviour which simply needs to be managed by the client. Sometimes ADs or AP are given and can help, also to support sleep as well if needed.

These discussions always contain reflections about 'if onlly she was supported with her MH this wouldnt have happened' but often that is pie in the sky.

Well, we will never know will we because she was totally deserted by state and society until she did something violent. I think that is wrong. Do we have an obligation to take care of our vulnerable members? Yes. Do we have an obligation to take care of the entire world's vulnerable members? No. And the point is that when we can't even look after our own, perhaps we should have more controls over who we admit into our country. And when we do admit people who attack our fellow citizens, we should not be demonised by politicians and the press for getting angry at government failures.

That said, the riots and arson attacks last night were totally out of order and regressive - people's cars and homes were burned and that is not cool. We need a calm and rational discussion about a real solution. IMHO that starts with state services: mental health provision, criminal justice equality and fairness, proper police training, etc.

Where has anyone said that ?

Think it's clear which sides she's talking about. How dare people have quick thinking and typing skills. They can't be real, have to be bots. Some really do live in bubbles.

I suppose what I mean is it looks like many comments are left by people who don’t seem to be thinking at all about the myriad of reasons for the decline in standard of living in the last two decades. I don’t want to believe that so many people can’t see past the idea that we would be a much happier and more successful society if we didn’t have to deal with all the problems that other people bring with them when they come here from elsewhere. Life in the UK is generally much more difficult and miserable now than in 2006, as far as I can remember. But it’s just like you said about bubbles: I guess plenty of people live that way and don’t ever have to consider the bigger picture, instead becoming more and more comfortable with the idea that life would be better for all of us if only we could keep the defined parameters of “us” nice and tight.

Does telling people to react with 'pure cold rage' sound like a call to peace and tolerance to you?

Attempting to behead somebody is hardly leading the way in peace and tolerance either.

Hardly relevant to your post if the attack in the op was carried out last year.

the father of this girl noted she was coming out with violent Reform ideology

What violent things did she say to the father?

He didnt say that, he said she just mentioned a few things in line with Reform. He said she wasnt violent as far as I remember reading it.

YABU OP because this was reported on the BBC on the 26th September 2025 and on the 15th May (you just have to scroll to the bottom of the BBC page you posted to see that).

YABVU to think that just because you didn't hear about something, that it must mean it wasn't reported.

So the disabled Welsh woman with 4 kids stays homeless whilst people with less need than her are housed?

I'm sorry, but it depends where 'the Welsh woman' has come from. If she has been living in the housing association 's area for some time then yes, her need is greatest. But if she has been moved in from the other side of the country then I feel it is the responsibility of that local authority to ensure she is adequately housed. Not take a chance of a home away from someone who has lived in the area all their lives.

Anyway, we digress from the original topic.

When attacks are by Islamist extremists, they are labelled as such. e.g. the Manchester Stadium bombing, the Manchester synagogue attacks.

When they are attacks by disturbed, but not radicalised individuals, they are not labelled 'terrorist' attacks, e.g. the tragic Southport attack by Axel Rudakubana.

Do you see the difference?

Violent crime is analysed for its motivation, which is why when the father of this girl noted she was coming out with violent Reform ideology we now know that she was being radicalised into committing a hate crime.

Yet we are not allowed to declare that Islam has caused any of the multiple attacks. There's hundreds stopped, one fairly recent, by a Father coming out from visiting his Wife and Newborn seeing a man suspiciously hanging around the maternity wing. We aren't allowed to say that a common theme is women and children being targeted. Part of the issue is the blame always follows one path, but apparently there's lots of factors at play, when it's from a man from certain communities.

I didnt see what his injuries were. I also didnt see that she was also carrying darts and a scapel. And that she had been in touch with various far right groups and told some bloke to kill jews and Muslims.

Spent the day watching SS marches prior to the attack.

God knows why people are banging on about anorexia!!!
