'Afghan men 'fled UK in lorry after raping girl'

Mobile phone footage recovered from Safi's phone showed the men in the lorry laughing and gesticulating, which Hetherington said suggested they thought they "got away with it".

When they were found by French police in Calais on 3 December, they were returned to the UK.
Hetherington said the trio had no travel documents or identification and had given false names to French authorities.
After their real names were checked on police systems, they were arrested on suspicion of rape.
Sali, of St Werburghs, denies one count of human trafficking and two charges of rape.
Habibkheil, of Lockleaze, denies one count of human trafficking and one charge of rape.
Ahmadzai, of Redcliffe, denies one charge of rape and one charge of assault by penetration.
The 16-year-old also denied one charge of rape.
The trial continues.'

A jury is told three defendants left the country in a "deeply unusual" way after the alleged rape.

Agree.

Leaving the Dublin agreement has made it tough though as there simply isn’t room, unless we start building massive detention facilities.

it also hasn’t helped that we’ve lost access to Schengen databases. Farage and Brexit have created much of the immigration issue themselves.

what we need is much faster processing of asylum applications as well, get them turned round and sent home straight away if they don’t have a valid application.

You cannot deport a person unless a country accepts the individual belongs to them.
There are measures such as visa restrictions to use.

You mean we should be willing to pay decent wages for those jobs ?

It’s not about training, it’s about making that kind of hard work attractive.

Fair point

Yes - exactly.

If we need NHS and care staff we should better train our own people and in the meantime we use labour from those culturally similar to us.

Recipe books exist for food.

Look at the what tolerance and multiculturalism brings though. Not exactly the best overall.

I've been raped once and sexually assaulted more than once. Always White British men.

We are not Germany.

We are known for being accepting and tolerant of hundreds of migrant communities. It is what makes Britain such an amazing place to live. Our capital is run by a Muslim mayor, who is as British as they come. And figures show that the more diverse a community is, the less likely they are to vote for far right parties.

It is fear and not experience that leads people to call for wholesale bans on immigration. And the high number of people on this thread wanting to ban Muslims and Black people from coming here tells me you haven’t spent time in environments where you encounter immigrants as people. You see them as a homogeneous mass of “invaders” who somehow threaten our way of life.

Our hospitals and care homes and hospitality industries are populated by migrants, so I hope you don’t get ill or need care or enjoy a takeaway from India or China.

Or maybe I do hope you get ill and need care because you might then encounter Mohammed and Aysha and Latisha and see that they are as human as you and I and have the same dreams, cares and worries that we do.

No one is saying 'it's just foreigners'. And no one is saying VAWG isn't an issue across the population. However you should look at the German data here. You'd probably say most rapes in Germany are committed by white German men, wouldn't you? Totally ignoring the per capita proportions.

In data from Germany (which as you know is similar to the UK), although they make up only 2.5 per cent of the population, asylum-seekers made up 13.1 per cent of all sexual-assault suspects in 2021.

Germany and the UK - not so different.

Germany is acknowledging the unspeakable - A pattern of criminality is shattering taboos
Andrew Hammel 2024

The Germany-wide statistics on sexual violence were sobering. An internal study by the German federal law enforcement agency, leaked to a Zurich newspaper, revealed that asylum-seekers have committed some 7,000 sexual assaults (ranging from groping to gang-rape ) between 2015 and 2023.

Although they make up only 2.5 per cent of the population, asylum-seekers made up 13.1 per cent of all sexual-assault suspects in 2021.

In 2023, there were 761 gang-rapes registered in Germany — almost two per day; 47.5 per cent of the suspects were foreigners. The frequency of such crimes — which were rare in Germany as late as the 1990s — has hovered between 600 and 800 per year for the past 7 years. The statistics go on for page after mind-numbing (or mind-boggling) page.

Nancy Faeser, Germany’s Interior Minister from the centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) also said something which would have been branded far-right provocation just a few years ago: “We have to talk about the rise in crime by foreigners”.

German politicos and journalists have long suppressed discussions of why certain groups of foreigners are overrepresented in crime statistics; Section 12 of the official German press code even forbids identifying the ethnic ancestry of criminals to combat “discrimination”.

Any references to “crime by foreigners” as a distinct problem were met with charges of xenophobia and racism. What has moved the Overton Window is a stream of grim crime statistics published by government agencies or, just as frequently, leaked to journalists.

It was bringing in low paid east Europeans that shot our own builders/joiners in the foot. Hence few tradesman now - thanks Blair for trying to give ‘racist’ Brits a kicking -we got Brexit because of that

The perpetrator entered via Ireland. Australia doesn’t let people in unless they are legally able to. If you just rock up at the coastline you don’t get in.

MrsHeathcliff26 · 10/06/2026 08:14

Australia uses off shore detention which is quite the deterrent. Unfortunately it’s our home grown crooks that make up most of the shootings and crime here but there’s a large contingent that means we have specific middle eastern crime task forces in our police force.

Well I’ve woken up to news reports of protests leading to burning buses in Belfast and apparently the guy that had his neck sliced was a vulnerable Scottish guy who lived in neighbouring social housing to the alleged knife wielder. Another day of everything going well with multiculturalism in the UK 👍

Are you prepared to accept beheadings in order to get your "high quality Eastern European" joiner? There are plenty of high quality British joiners btw. You just have to pay them their going rate.

What Eastern Europeans go around beheading people FFS?

Dollymylove · 10/06/2026 07:39

Dnfs · 09/06/2026 23:42

I think about this. In the UK if attacked or robbed or burgled you cower in fear and hope they don't hurt you and let yourself get robbed. In America they think "no you can't" and neutralise the threat. The American mentality is today defend yourself and your property. People shoot home invaders dead.

And also if its a known/wanted criminal that you despatch, you might be in for a reward!! What's not to like 🤣

We've had people from Islamic countries living and working alongside us for decades, their children and grandchildren now who are British, with no problem. There are bound to be some bad apples as there are in every ethnicity, they are the ones publicised.

Are you including the Belfast perpetrator as a ‘bad apple’?

I agree and the same. However there's no getting away from the fact that 'bad apples' - or muslim extremists, are numerous. There are approximately 2 billion Muslims in the world, making Islam the second-largest religion and accounting for about 26% of the global population.

Do the maths - that's a lots of 'bad apples', even though it's only 'some'.

Most rapes in the UK are perpetrated by white British men.

There are 72,000 reported rapes in the UK every year (ONS 2025), so it’s not just asylum seekers or people from different cultures.

Of course this is shocking and horrifying, but these men were caught.

We must do more to prevent violence against women and girls full stop. Saying it’s just foreigners doesn’t help end that and is inciting hatred,

No one is saying 'it's just foreigners'. And no one is saying VAWG isn't an issue across the population. However you should look at the German data here. You'd probably say most rapes in Germany are committed by white German men, wouldn't you? Totally ignoring the per capita proportions.
