Fed up with colleague rimming this down my throat?

I’ve a colleague who I get along with at work, we chat and know a reasonable amount about each other.

She has dated a few people over the past year of two, she’s currently seeing someone who is getting divorced. It seems to be getting a bit serious in her words (only been a few weeks) and they’ve discussed buying a house down the line.

He has a very well paying job and she has said they’ll either be able to buy somewhere and be Mortgage free, or buy a big house in a great area which she never thought she’d be able to live in. Great, I do want her to be happy.

My ‘AIBU’ is whether I am wrong to feel fed up with her mentioning his wealth at every opportunity, and how she could never dream of ‘being mortgage free at her age’. It is starting to feel gloaty now…

🤣 omg

Teanbiscuits33 · 09/06/2026 20:21

She’s in cloud cuckoo land, just go along with her. Smile and say, ‘’how exciting!’’ Ad nauseam and watch as it all falls apart. Or, if she’s annoying you that much, start putting seeds of doubt in her mind, ‘’Wow, that seems very quick Sheila, I’d be worried all isn’t as it seems. Still, as long as you’re happy, eh?’’

future faking …

Is she absolutely rimming with confidence... if so I bet he is pleased...

Explain to her the terms "free skivvy aupair" and "free nanny with a fanny".

It might give her pause🙄

This too.
Men often move on fast because they want a free babysitter/housekeeper

Calliopespa · 09/06/2026 20:13

There are not many "types" of people I have a blanket dislike for, but women who leech onto a man's wealth and somehow feel proud of it as though they earned it themselves are one such type.

it is somehow so demeaning to everyone involved.

AHalfling · 09/06/2026 20:12

She sounds desperately naive. It's unlikely he's going to handover 50% of the mortgage free house to her.

Lifeomars · 09/06/2026 20:10

Well the thread title sucked me in so to speak...

Just be thankful a pearl necklace isn't involved before/after or instead of the rimming

I had to Google that one

PotatoLove · 09/06/2026 20:02

Brilliant OP 😆😂😆😂

@Two2TooAlsoToToward re 🤢💩, that’s why a soapy hot shower and a scrub-a-dub is a prerequisite. So I am told!

It won’t last. He won’t be foolish coming out of a divorce, sounds like he is sweet talking her to suit his needs.

That was my first thought, wonder if there is an age gap when teenage children were mentioned.

The kind of man who dumps every woman once they get to 40, rinse and repeat.

Yikes, that would be very unpleasant. Have a chat with HR 😂

it does depend on how OP feels about rimming tho doesn't it 😅

Ear buds even if you aren’t listening to anything and no eye contact

Ugh I hate when my colleagues insist on rimming at work.

That aside, he’s probably love bombing her. The realist/cynic in me assumes they’re basically doomed. But tbh she sounds as shallow as a puddle so it’s no great tragedy.

She’s doing what to you at work??

🤣🤣🤣

gamerchick · 09/06/2026 19:46

Just smile and nod. She's rich in oxytocin and dating a man who needs a distraction from a divorce.

Check your contract OP, I’m pretty sure that’s illegal in this country.

Naurrr · 09/06/2026 19:45

Don't listen to drivel conversations at work, just say 'how lovely' and be too busy to hang about
