AIBU to expect proper condom disposal and not being left inside me?

I was with my exH for over 20 years and I’ve not had many sexual partners. I’m not sure about “condom etiquette” and it’s something not talked about.

My exH would always take the condom off and throw it in the bathroom bin. This is what I expect.

I’ve found my new partner just leaves it in the bed, which is gross and I worry my kids might find them. On other occasions I’ve found them inside me the next time I’ve gone to the loo. Which obviously leaves me worried I might get pregnant.

As I don’t have much experience I wondered what others think. AIBU to expect him to put the condom in the bin? Or at least tell me where he left it and definitely not leave it inside me!

That's no reason to have sex with men who act like this and you can't even say the basics to pull them up on it. I know you say you've not much experience, but you're a long way into adulthood and I'm shocked that you've let this get so far. Ditch this guy, don't shag anyone who you can't classify as nice no matter where they live, and get over not talking about condom etiquette. It's way too important.

Leaving the condom inside me only happened twice. The first time I thought it was an accident. I did mention it this time. He didn’t say anything just replied with 😬

He must be using the wrong size condoms if they're coming off and being left up inside you?! That's not normal at all. And leaving it in the bed is rank?! I've never ever met any man, including teen boys who would do that.

At worst it might just get tied up and thrown on the floor, then retrieved the next morning. But only if it was in his own house. Even that is not what I'd expect from a middle aged man!

I'm not sure why he's doing this? Unless he's just clueless about condom use due to having not used one for decades? It seems odd and I'd be really turned off.

I don’t understand how he could leave it inside you? Isn’t the point of a condom that it stays on the whole time so should come out when his penis comes out?

In the bed is also gross and totally unnecessary because presumably he goes and cleans off afterwards so why not take it with him?!

He sounds dirty and vile honestly. Have you been to his place? Does he do the same there? Does he have a messy house generally?

The first time it happened I assumed he’d just lost his erection and that caused the condom to come off.

He doesn’t clean himself afterwards or maybe he does when he to the loo.

I’ve not been to his place.

Unfortunately, nice boyfriends who don’t live 3 hours away don’t seem to exist.

I think you should make an appointment for a full screen at the GUM clinic.

Dump the bloke, he either is thick as fuck or he's doing it deliberately.

No reason just to choose any old scum bag just to have a boyfriend. Make your standards higher.

Not remotely normal. You need a pregnancy test, STI test and a much nicer new boyfriend OP.

Sorry OP, I think you already know that that is completely gross and unacceptable. And probably illustrative of a man who is inconsiderate in other areas of life.

You don't deserve this.

InterestedDad37 · 08/06/2026 11:14

Jeez, that's grim! Nothing can excuse that behaviour from him, I'm afraid, and you don't have to accept it, nor get into the situation where you might have to deal with it.

As others have said. Look up stealthing. That’s not ok. You need to have a harsh conversation with him.

Wow not heard of stealthing before. Thanks. Got me thinking. I’ll take a pregnancy test at lunchtime and find out about the local STD clinic. I won’t be seeing him again.

WTF inside you - whats wrong with him!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 08/06/2026 11:04

Disgusting lazy piece of trash. Yuck. Ditch him.

sweetpickle2 · 08/06/2026 11:03

Sorry but how does this happen (repeatedly) without you knowing??

I had this happen once with someone I was sleeping with but we were both so drunk I put it down to that. I would definitely realise generally!

As others have said, get rid of this one. He is at best disgusting and at worse abusive.

Badbadbunny · 08/06/2026 11:01

ChickenBananaBanana · 08/06/2026 10:37

So you can fuck him but not have this convo with him? Is he trying to stealth you?

This is definitely not normal and something he would mention surely.

Indeed. How can you have sex with someone but not be able to talk about it? Something sounds very wrong with your relationship.

DoAWheelie · 08/06/2026 10:59

He is wearing the wrong size and you are not protected. He is putting his ego above your safety. Get an STD and pregnancy test and dump the bastard.

Harriet36 · 08/06/2026 10:58

You need sexual health screening and a pregnancy test. Oh, and dump your boyfriend, he's not a good man.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 08/06/2026 10:58

Inside you?? More than once?? And his response wasn’t “oh fuck the condoms come off”?

I wouldn’t ever be having sex with him again.

WildLeader · 08/06/2026 10:58

In writing this post @Slv199 im assuming you’ve got the terminal ICK for this guy?

if not, why the fuck not?

HE IS REVOLTING 🤢

YourHeartyFatball · 08/06/2026 10:52

That’s disgusting. Get rid of him.

LizardLore · 08/06/2026 10:47

As others have said, the fact you can’t address this with him means he is not the man for you.

The fact he is doing this at all means he’s not the man for anyone, btw. It’s so far outside the realms of normal behaviour it’s completely impossible he’s unaware.

He’s doing it out of disrespect (best case scenario) or for an actively manipulative reason such as to try and get you pregnant or harm your relationship with your kids (worst case scenario).

Uoal · 08/06/2026 10:45

Leaving it inside is delibrate, otherwise there would be a convo of "I think its slipped off" dump him and go get a full screening

mrscoreytaylor · 08/06/2026 10:45

This is disgusting op 😡 he belongs in the bin, what a horrible thing to happen Jesus.
