To be emotionally attached to a car

I know I’m probably being unreasonable but my husband is thinking of changing his car. We’ve had lots of road trips and fun with it and it’s more of a lifestyle car. I really don’t like the car he’s thinking of swapping it for and have said so. Third world problem I know but I’m genuinely upset that this car and lifestyle may be changing. I also think I’m also possibly bordering being controlling which I hate. Has anyone else become very emotionally attached to a car. For context no deal has been done but the thought of it possibly going is upsetting.

I totally understand how you feel. I drove the same model of car for 18 years, I had 2 during that time. We had so many family holidays, road trips, fun, always filled with kids, dogs, grannies … it was a big, safe model that fitted us all in and never let is down. Until it did let us down and would cost a fortune to repair. Outgrown and with DC both driving it took me months to come to terms with not having it anymore.

Yes very much so. Mine was bought late in my 30s, my first car and I was a late learner only because I'd lived in London zone 2 and never learnt or needed a car.
Then came a move to rural place and subsequent divorce.
I learnt to drive for my DC and I.
I had that car ten yrs and absolutely cried my eyes out when she had to go. Wasn't viable to keep fixing.

I felt like crap.
