Work related - grievance

Hi, posting here for traffic!
Writing a grievance, ACAS has advised it but won’t read it prior to sending.
Can’t go to citizens advice as it is linked to my work…
is there a legitimate organisation who will read my grievance prior to sending?
it is long and covers so many issues in multiple areas, primarily disability discrimination, bullying and poor, possibly illegal practices but I am conscious I am coming from a place of high stress and emotion as well as sick with pain and don’t want to write a sprawling document that might be overkill and not taken seriously.
I’m neurodivergent and have been told I give too much info and find it really hard to pare down whilst maintaining the importance of the grievance.

thank you

Are you getting sick pay? Have you been signed off?

ItTook9Years · 07/06/2026 20:03

I’m genuinely just trying to ascertain if your perceived disability discrimination is founded or if they could easily dismiss your grievance because the recommendations were not made to them. Because you could be wasting your time if these are your arguments and they may not hold up at tribunal either. Your strongest case, as suggested by another poster upthread, is to have your grievance upheld and a protected conversation with settlement process started.

But crack on. No skin off my nose. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ATW waiting lists are long, but they prioritise anyone already in the system and/or starting a new job within 4 weeks. So if you contacted them when you accepted the job in July/Aug 2025, there’s no way you should still be waiting now.

Sept 2025 is not “just under a year ago”.

It’s really hard to advise you when you aren’t giving any clarity over the AFW support and reasonable adjustments.

If you didn’t inform ATW that you were changing jobs then you appear to be in breach of the requirements. The ATW grant does not transfer between jobs without their sign off.

Obviously I contacted them and am still awaiting assessment.
i know exactly how all of this works, that is not the question i have asked for support with.
I am not answering any more of your or @Winkblingwink questions as they are not relevant and it feels like you are a tag team of wannabe judge , jury and executioners literally demanding I answer questions which would mean me disclosing very personal and identifiable information.

If the employer didn’t pay to transfer to new employer the equipment then they have breached the terms of the grant

lol @ your questions, feels like you think we’re in court and have made some wild assumptions , I haven’t come here to be cross examined or have my facts ripped apart.
how do any working single parents manage?
I have been disabled my whole working life and more than one employer has allowed me to move with some equipment where appropriate, I have even offered to pay at some points and they have refused.

They aren’t on heavy opiates in general.

it was just a question

Access to Work can pay to transfer your equipment to a new job if your employer agrees. If they refuse, you will need to make a new Access to Work application

so did they pay to transfer?

Holidaymodeon · 07/06/2026 19:23

I declared done disability in the interview as it was relevant to the role and then disclosed fully upon being offered the job at which point I was promised ‘x, y and z’ which never materialised.
you absolutely can both move with your existing adaptations and with your recommendations, the ATW waiting list is immense .
this is not the advice I came for though, fortunately posters have advised enough already so I don’t really need further advice from here, thanks.

No 😭
I have an enabler for help with household chores once a week but any kind of admin is not their forte, they have been incredibly patient listening to me rant and offload but I feel guilty as it’s not their job to deal with my wok grievances .

How do you manage to be a single parent? Do you get support with your children?

They agreed it as was specialised individually tailored for my specific condition , many employers have done this and do this where nobody else can use it

So this is a very rare condition they your previous employer was unlikely to ever employ again?

Unless this is the case, then no way should grant appliances be taken from one employer to another one

ItTook9Years · 07/06/2026 19:10

Okay, but the grant doesn’t transfer. Can you answer the questions about ATW and Occ health during the recruitment process?

Holidaymodeon · 07/06/2026 19:07

Winkblingwink · 07/06/2026 18:54

You brought across equipment from your previous employer to your new employer? Really? That was completely wrong. The ATW grant doesnt transfer. The new employer has to process.

Can you elaborate on this @Holidaymodeon ?

Something isn’t right here. You don’t transfer ATW grants between employers automatically. You should have had a review with ATW and a new award made for the support you need there. They also don’t support reasonable adjustments - did you have an occ health assessment during the recruitment process?

Great minds….

Holidaymodeon · 07/06/2026 17:11

Thank you. I gave them all my access to work recommendations from previous post before I started plus I brought in lots of actual practical equipment when I joined. They ignored the recommendations from ATW . I have re-referred myself to them but the waiting list is huge

Did you have permission to take equipment from your previous employer?

Have you looked at the Access to Work scheme OP?
There may (or may not) be useful information there which could be helpful to you, and potentially your employer, which may negate the need for a grievance going forward.
Sadly, there's nothing available to fix a nasty boss though.
Good luck.

join a union - they are normally only around £7-£10 per month. They will help you

Unions rarely if ever help in these situations. It is like buying household insurance after the flood.

Can’t understand why you can’t go to citizens advice. It is completely confidential

RudolphTheReindeer · 07/06/2026 14:57

If you have a local law centre they may be able to help or try the ehrc

And how long previous job? Could you go back there?

I was there years. I was bored, saw this ‘dream job’ by chance and went fo it, my old job was perfect for me an my life stage, lovely team, amazing bosses, I just wanted more stimulation and regret it hugely. Sadly I took a n extended break between jobs, hilariously (!) I nearly retracted my job acceptance multiple times due to conversations with my soon to be new boss, a classic case of ignoring red flags / alarm bells, as an nd person I’m prone to overthinking so talked myself out of it.

in that time, my job was absorbed into my old team, and is very unlikely to come up again. I loved my old managers, they didn’t want me to go, were always praising me etc, it’s been such a shock to experience this with my current job, there’s a lot of unethical practices too, it’s not just about me, it’s morally injurious as well as personally.

Just under a year. Part of the reason I stayed so long . Apart from hoping they’d come good 🙈 was because I don’t want such a short lived job on my cv

And how long previous job? Could you go back there?
