Rainbows everywhere. Hi. I walked into the office building yesterday and rainbow stuff everywhere. Nearby nursery has all rainbow colours on fencing and there was an ambulance with rainbow colours. A bit ridiculous?

It's all becoming increasingly sinister since the TQ+ was added... furries, bondage, piss parties, surrogacy demands... no thank you.

You do know that theres plenty of straight people also doing all of that

Utterly OTT. I’m with you OP. And why they need to be in a nursery is beyond me.

Is it really beyond you? You cannot understand why teaching acceptance, inclusion and representation to small children is needed? You are exactly why it's needed actually, you've proved them right!

What is the problem with people who have been historically oppressed celebrating their difference? Just live and let live ffs

I suspect it’s because everyone claims oppression now. There’s a general weariness at the victimhood everywhere. Even my teen comes home and said everyone at school is always offended. Words are literal violence, rules are oppression, consequences are injustice. I can’t imagine what it must be like to work in a secondary school right now.

I see this year there seems to be more of the old school rainbow flags rather then the seizure inducing pride flags which is nice to see.

Agreed. Our fire station used to fly the rainbow being eaten by the trans triangle all year round which I felt was excessive. This year they've more sensibly been flying the Fire Service flag. But this month they're flying the old Pride rainbow. I see this as progress.

I went to our local city Pride today to perform as part of entertainment. There was still a lot of trans focus including badges saying 'No Terfs' 🙄 but also lots of plain rainbows on show. There was also a separate 'Trans Pride' event a couple of weeks ago so maybe they sense the LGB are getting tired of them. Or maybe they're just greedy and need ALL the parades.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 06/06/2026 19:04

I honestly haven’t noticed many rainbows locally. The only thing that made me roll my eyes was my child’s senior school doing a whole load of virtue signalling online. Someone did have a go at them online over the trans aspect which I thought was brave considering the possible backlash.

I saw a train liveried in rainbow colours today. I don't object to the principle, but the average cost of re-liverying a train is at least £20k, which is a lot to spend when they charge a fortune for tickets and still can't run a reliable service.

I saw a nice one in Germany, where the Deutsche Bahn red stripe was replaced with a rainbow one. Of course, the majority of the train was still grey, wonder if it was a metaphor 😆

I looked them up, hoping they lived in some deep conservative town and I could say that's the way to do it: actually standing up for values that matter to you against the crowd.

But no, they live in one of the most heavily Democratic areas in the US.

This is about as brave as hanging an enormous sign about how much you love the church in Salt Lake City, or a massive Trump banner in deep Maga country, or BLM in Portland, or the CCP in Zhongnanhai. Really sticking it to your neighbours who all agree with you.

Edited

With a massive swing from 8% to 29% republican voting means it isn’t the inclusive utopia you think it is.

A whole load on misinformation there but…..now do one for Catholic Priests. And another for Cub Scouts. Shall we stop those organisations too?

Detail exactly what's not true please.

There does seem to be alot of ‘look at us, we’re flying a rainbow flag’ posts on Facebook this year, a lot more than usual.

Something like 8 Pride organisers have been jailed for paedophilia in the last year alone.

I'm amazed that's not a bigger story.

Also it's pride month...Did you not know.. but l love rainbow 🌈 colours and themes all the time..

Off you pop then.

Exactly can’t we just keep the toxic transphobia to that one board of “enlightened feminists”.

Braver than the cowards though who are the internet trolls, homophobic visitors and strangers who have posted letters through their door asking them to take their flag down.

There isn't Purple in the rainbow, it doesn't have it's own wavelength like Violet does.
Even EYFS curriculum is supposed to teach the real colours of the rainbow in Reception, all 7 of them.

Interesting.
I didn't know there was an official version.
I have always just known it as either
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple
OR
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.
Although if you sing the song....
🎵🎶
Red and Yellow and Pink and Green....
Orange and Purple and Blue.
I Can Sing A Rainbow 🎵🎶
(I can't remember the last line)
Gosh this 🌈 malarkey is confusing.

When I was at school it felt like pretty much everybody was rabidly homophobic. Now people - presumably by-and-large the same people - are falling over themselves to tell us how much they love gay people. How much of it is heartfelt and how much is just jumping from one bandwagon to another?

Or, they have evolved with society and understand how wrong they were. I made fun of kids who were thought to be gay, laughed along with the entirely unacceptable jokes etc when I was at school 40 years ago. Thankfully I have grown to understand that was an incredibly shitty thing to do and my prejudice was entirely wrong, not least because my BIL is gay so it would make for an awkward family gathering. I welcome him and my gay friends and work colleagues into my home not because of any bandwagon but because I would be a terrible person if I didn’t.

Not wanting to have others ramming their views in your face does not make you a bigot
Lazy thinking but you've found your tribe here.

Ramming views of tolerance and acceptance down people’s throats?

I also don’t see having 1 month to celebrate the community as forcing views. And if people were more tolerant and accepting, then it wouldn’t be needed.

Why is it so hard to celebrate and stand alongside people who are finding their voice.

I agree that there have been people who have used pride for personal agendas and fetishists who have behaved inappropriately - but then they aren’t representative of the majority.

This is so funny.

Why on earth would children like a rainbow? Outrageous! It’s WELL KNOWN that children HATE rainbows! Stop THRUSTING RAINBOWS DOWN CHILDREN'S NECKS. Colours are disgusting to children!

They used to sing the rainbow song at my eldest nursery and they are now bisexual.

This is true, I don't think they are linked though before anyone misses the tone of the message.

Brokentoes85 · 06/06/2026 17:50

So colours? Or do you mean rainbows?

Either way, get a life

custardlover · 06/06/2026 17:49

MyCottageGarden · 06/06/2026 15:32

You’re being wilfully ignorant here, rainbows as decoration in a nursery and the pride flag are not the same things and you know it. They absolutely do not need to be wafting the pride flag in a sodding nursery.

The OP doesn’t mention Pride just rainbows and that’s precisely what I said too. Kids see rainbows and joy and colour and nothing else you honking weasel.

Thatcannotberight · 06/06/2026 17:40

Needmorelego · 06/06/2026 14:37

Surely it depends if you say Indigo and Violet separately or just Purple.
Both are fairly normal.

There isn't Purple in the rainbow, it doesn't have it's own wavelength like Violet does.
Even EYFS curriculum is supposed to teach the real colours of the rainbow in Reception, all 7 of them.
