Harry Windsor getting upset about Peter Phillips

Am I missing something? There is a story in the press today about Harry refusing to go to Peter Phillips's wedding, allegedly because he sold his first wedding to Hello (or OK) magazine. What am I missing here - these magazines have featured Kate and William's wedding, Sophie and Edward, Eugenie and Jack, loads of them. Including his own wedding to Meghan. I thought that's just what they do, so what's Harry's issue? Is it that Peter Phillips got paid and the rest didn't?

The excuse given by Harry is something to do with upsetting him about his girlfriend Chelsy Davy. He's supposedly so happy with Meghan, so why does anything to do with Chelsy bother him now?

For info, this is not a "royal bashing" "Meghan bashing" post. It's to get understanding of how these things work.

This boring story has been repeated so often its ridiculous. Princess Anne is always the one brought out as well. Shame she wasn't so so eagle eyed and concerned about her brother during his decades of parading prostitutes and paedophiles on their family holidays wasn't it? Harry probably wasn't invited. No one knows why not. Probably the answer is that he is estranged from his family and Peter Phillips probably didn't want someone hes not that close to anyway to cause a frosty atmosphere at his wedding.

And its not like they live around the corner from each other
Could anyone be bothered with a longhaul flight for a cousin they dont really like?
If they had gone you csn gurantee there would be loads of accusations of them going so they can make it all about them.

I never claimed to believe it. But the one thing we do know is that he gives whiny press interviews at every opportunity. Not sure why anyone would want to be around him, for that reason alone

This is ironic given how whiny this thread and post is.

Of course I didn't think that, seriously or otherwise, and that's not what I asked. Some quite weird replies here this morning, aren't there? I asked about what the problem was about Peter Phillips getting paid for his wedding in the magazine in 2008. I'm not a print journalist, so I don't know those things. However someone has given an answer without sarcasm or smart alec-ness.

Sigh. There is no problem because it’s a fake story, designed to get gullible people frothing.

So because Harry has given interviews, everything in the press must be real? Seriously it's all made up! There was a huge article somewhere about Eugenie and Beatrice being 'snubbed' too but they were there. It's just fairytales that people will read for entertainment. In the same way that Mumsnet start gazillions of threads on here for our entertainment. Both are the same writing crazy stuff which draws readers in which makes them money. You're not supposed to believe it's real, it's just another form of modern day entertainment.

ElixirOfLife · 07/06/2026 08:58

Maybe he was invited but didn’t fancy the travel and hassle. Lots of people don’t bother so much with second weddings.

I thought Harry didn’t want to go because he’d presumed Megan was invited but she wasn’t as Princess Anne put her foot down because she was concerned Harry and Megan would be recording footage and using it in their tv shows?
I can't remember where I read that so no idea of the validity of the story?

So does Harry not take every opportunity to give interviews about conversations he’s had and how he perceives his family?

Harry is a very bitter man. He has had all of the privilege and none of the responsibility all his life.

He blames the tabloids for his mother’s death but she played a game with them (briefing them as to where she would be at various times, shagging high profile married men, doing the ‘doe eyed innocent’ look etc ) and it cost her life.

Plenty of people have tragic circumstances but whining on about it in public nearly 30 years on is just boring.

There is always one poster on these threads who manages to squeeze in something really distasteful and nasty about Diana as well as kick Harry. I honestly wonder sometimes if they are working for the palace? 😬

How about sticking to facts before drawing unfounded, misogynistic, conclusions?

I can’t stand this revisionist narrative of Diana which is being encouraged by those currently in office, which neglects to mention the fact that she was rejected by her husband because of his ongoing affair, and that this rejection was played out globally in every newspaper and broadcast across the world, just about the biggest public humiliation anyone can suffer in their early twenties in other words, and yet she somehow ended up as the sole villain of the piece if your post is anything to go by Anarchy99, and because she is dead, she gets disparaged.

Diana lost her life aged third-six because the chauffeur of the car she was in had taken a combination of medication and pills.

They were being chased by paps at the time but this could have happened if they had been driven at speed along a motorway en route to an airport or hotel.

And she was chased by paps long before her marriage to Charles took place! She was chased by paps going to the gym fhs!

Affairs with married men did not directly lead to her death and it’s ridiculous to suggest such a thing.

Seeking affairs with unavailable men is a pattern of behaviour often carried out by women who experienced poor emotional attachment with their primary caregivers because it mimics the parenting they received as a child; a repeated pattern of connection and rejection. Diana’s mother, also much younger than her husbands, had to leave Althorp and her children when Diana was six.

It also is carried out by women who have experienced tremendous hurt and rejection in their most important romantic relationships. They seek out married men for the validation that they are still worthy of love and still attractive, while at the same time being in no danger of having to commit to something they regard as potentially unsafe, based on their recent experiences.

I am not justifying affairs with married men but to mention them without including Charles’s part in all of this and the subsequent ostracism Diana endured, and the context in which they happened, is not balanced or fair. Charles ends up married and someone at the epicentre of privilege and respectability, meanwhile Diana is dead and can’t answer back.

I think what you’re missing is stop believing shite you read in the mail.

My thought exactly.
Once again the first reply nails it.

As my mum says “Paper never refuses ink, whether it be true or not.”

Leo800 · 06/06/2026 15:30

Harry wasn’t invited, unsurprisingly.

aCatCalledFawkes · 06/06/2026 15:23

Of all the things the daily mail has written about Harry, how interesting this story has never appeared before until Peter Philips second wedding day.

DM clutching at straws.

TheFairyCaravan · 06/06/2026 14:50

It was only a couple of days ago that the papers were saying Charles and Camilla were going to the horse racing instead of the wedding, yet they’ve quite clearly been at the wedding today. They, especially the Mail, make it up as they go along. I don’t understand how people keep falling for it.

So does Harry not take every opportunity to give interviews about conversations he’s had and how he perceives his family?

Where in that article is there any direct quote from Harry about the situation? If he takes every opportunity. Actually when was his last direct interview where he mentioned his family?

x2boys · 06/06/2026 14:30

IAmBeaIDrinkTea · 06/06/2026 13:34

Lol, they've turned up.
Watch the thread descend into the usual batshittery 😂

Just proved my earlier point😂

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 06/06/2026 14:14

Harry runs his mouth off about his family a lot, the Daily Mail writes complete bollocks most of the time.

Both of these things are true, but in this instance I would put money on the latter being nearer the money.

Anarchy99 · 06/06/2026 14:11

HoskinsChoice · 06/06/2026 13:45

But don't you see that there isn't a problem? It's made up. It's just click bait stories to make you read it.

Or, tabloids using any royal story to shoehorn in a false story about Harry, because they know their readers will fall for it and rush to the comments section, bringing in £££ for them, as usual.

When I saw the reports of the wedding, I wondered how long it would take for a Harry story to pop up. Not long, as I suspected.

Yep - how many clicks do you think they'd get for 'minor royal gets married'. Let's face it, nobody is clamouring for news of what Peter Phillips is getting up to. Maybe a few royal fans would care, few more might like to look at the outfits. Hence shoehorning in stories about Harry because they know it'll get clicks and clicks = advertising revenue. They know they can make up any old shite about Harry and Meghan.

I’d be surprised if he was invited since Harry would take over the headlines before and after the wedding. I think Peter will want to remain in William and the King’s good books too so not inviting Harry makes sense.

Maybe it’s not to keep in their good books. Maybe it’s because he understands that as soon as anyone speaks to Harry, he gives an interview
