Harry Windsor getting upset about Peter Phillips

Am I missing something? There is a story in the press today about Harry refusing to go to Peter Phillips's wedding, allegedly because he sold his first wedding to Hello (or OK) magazine. What am I missing here - these magazines have featured Kate and William's wedding, Sophie and Edward, Eugenie and Jack, loads of them. Including his own wedding to Meghan. I thought that's just what they do, so what's Harry's issue? Is it that Peter Phillips got paid and the rest didn't?

The excuse given by Harry is something to do with upsetting him about his girlfriend Chelsy Davy. He's supposedly so happy with Meghan, so why does anything to do with Chelsy bother him now?

For info, this is not a "royal bashing" "Meghan bashing" post. It's to get understanding of how these things work.

Haznot was not invited.

EconomyClassRockstar · 10/06/2026 00:42

The only person who should be upset about the wedding is the poor woman in the short yellow dress and blue hat who waved to the press and has been absolutely trolled to shit in the comment sections on social media.

The people who write about this stuff don't actually give a shit about the answers to any of the idiotic questions they pose. They don't care. Their job is to wind you up and set you off 👍😀

caringcarer · 09/06/2026 15:02

I'm certain I read Harry and Meghan were not invited because he's not close with groom and Harriet didn't want Meghan over shadowing event.

⬆
This. The press care about their bottom line. The people keeping them alive are the people like those on the Royal board who pore over their every utterance, movement etc and spend all their time posting about them. The online papers know exactly which names generate the most clicks and they print stories accordingly. Harry and Meghan generate many times more clicks and comments than any of the other Royals put together. Even Andrew. Who did you think is paying for the new kitchens and Conservatories of the endless former butlers/Royal commentators/ lip reading experts/ body language experts/ people boring on about The Late Queens opinions? It's people who click over and over again on anything to do with Harry and Meghan.

Edited

The irony being that despite having left the firm they’re the ones that still get the most press attention. Surely it doesn’t bode well for the future of the rest of them if their most interesting members quit years ago (although as a republican I’m not exactly concerned!).

Definitely! It’s an entire industry at this point and a very lucrative one at that.

What wouldn't have happened?

It's nothing to do with them. The press knows that dragging their name into stories gets clicks. And if people genuinely don't want to hear from H&M again, all they have to do is stop clicking the links and stop talking about them.

Absolutely this!

WildFlowerBees · 09/06/2026 11:12

I still don’t know why folk believe anything newspapers say. It’s all about the narrative they want to push, propaganda and click bait. Also why does anyone still care about bloody Harry & Meghan?!

I thought you couldn’t be bothered to deal with those of us who ‘hate’ them?

I'm just asking you a question. It's a strange choice of word, what are you seeing that merits that description?

I don’t hate them, I just don’t worship them like some do. 🤷‍♀️

They know that stories are leaked about them and they do the same.

The post above yours explains it much better than I can

If H&M had done what they claimed they wanted to by leaving for a private life then it wouldn’t have happened.

Do you really think that some of these stories don’t come from them? Given how litigious they are, it would be pointless to publish lots of made up shit

Arjan · 09/06/2026 10:15

Some posters are a bit naive about how PR and ‘sources’ work.

Harry has a massive PR team working round the clock for him, trying to manage his and Meghan’s reputation. PR teams give out information often with the tacit agreement the journalist / reporter does not name the ‘source’. They do this to ‘frame’ a narrative. If it was untrue or the source was made up or not from anyone close to Harry and his PR team, they would issue a denial statement or threaten legal action.

When Harry and Meghan don’t like a narrative they come out to either deny it, explain it or threaten lawyers.

Queen not agreeing to them using her nickname (anonymous source) Harry threatened legal action but never did sue.

Harry punching his uncle Andrew, Harry publicly denied it through his PR team

Meghan helping herself to clothes from a photo shoot (anonymous source), Meghan publicly admitted she did, but her PR team gave a vague explanation.

Harry wasn’t invited to the wedding, his PR team change the narrative to highlighting his cousin breached his families privacy at his previous wedding, i.e. Harry isn’t the only one to exploit his family for money.

There are so many examples like this.

On top of that Meghan is the Duchess of petty clapbacks which she knows will generate column inches.

I'm sure you'll find there's not a single actual, named source for any of this story.

But I love the way the press can't resist dragging H&M into everything. Here was an opportunity to cover a nice wedding, with a relatively uncontroversial royal, which is exactly what everyone says they want to hear about - but no - they couldn't do it.

He most likely wasn’t even invited or declined because it was too much hassle and he has to pay for his own security.

Anarchy99 · 09/06/2026 09:31

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 09/06/2026 09:28

I agree that is true. They put stuff on their own Instagram and maybe leak stories to the press but they do not force the press to publish them. The sad thing I think about Harry after reading his book is that he can't quite believe how little he means to his family. He blames courtiers, staff, the press, everyone for their behaviour but at the end of the day, his grandparents, father, brother, aunt, cousins care about the continuation of the Monarchy, and he is not part of it. He was protected while he was in but he's left so it's open season.

He blames everyone because he’s too arrogant to look to himself. The book was another way to say fuck you to those he perceived to be to blame.

Ultimately he isn’t very bright and he’s one of life’s whingers. If he wants privacy I am all for that - I think the press should take him at his word.

If they stopped making crappy reality tv and interviews about how hard done by they are at every opportunity, perhaps they would be left alone.

As for feeling sorry for Meghan, outside of Suits fans, nobody knew who she was. She is now richer than she ever thought possible and seeks to ‘empower’ other women from her position of marrying a rich prince.

As far as I can see they made one show on Netflix and an Oprah interview 6 years ago! That's not 'at every opportunity '. The amount of interest generated by everything they do, they could have made a 10 series documentary slagging off the Royals!

Anarchy99 · 09/06/2026 09:28

Aethelredtheunsteady · 09/06/2026 08:53

Meghan and Harry are still being shoehorned by the press into every royal event/occasion. There’s been absolutely nothing directly from them about this wedding but the mail has still managed to generate multiple stories (including the fact that the same car was used). Clearly the royals aren’t interesting enough to generate clicks without them.
