To be totally APPALLED by how Robinson referred to Henry Nowak in his “speech” in Southampton on Tuesday?

Whereismyjoiedevivre · 04/06/2026 09:22

I’ve just seen a clip of this in a Guardian article on the main agitators in Southampton on Tuesday.
TR refers to Henry Nowak in this way: “White privilege?! Does Henry swear word beginning with F Nowak look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?”
He then smirks as he looks down, clearly proud of himself for delivering such an eloquent speech [sarcasm].
I’m beyond disgusted by how the name of this beautiful young man, who has lost his life in the most brutal way, was used in such a disrespectful way in order to rouse a rabble and boost TR’s ego.
AIBU to say that over the last two days TR, NF and their ilk are really showing us who they are and what motivates them?

“and many many people have had enough”

you’ve had enough? What was building for you before this one incident when a police officer told a man he didn’t believe he’d been stabbed?

Concerns of the southport killers raised by his headteacher being dismissed as "racial profiling"

Security guard at the Ariana concert being scared to approach the bomber for fear of racism accusations.

Grooming gang scandal - police afraid to prosecute for fear of rasicm accusations.

Thats what is building in this country.

Pleasantly surprised by this thread. The tide really is turning, even on MN.

Only because of the time of day.

When people get home from work later I can guarantee that TR will have less support.

What? You agree it’s okay to refer to Henry Nowak using an offensive swear word?

It is an emotive moment in an emotionally charged atmosphere, you can"t read too much into it, think about all the rap music that makes good social commentary but does it with swear words all over the place?

Jellox · 04/06/2026 11:34

5MinuteArgument · 04/06/2026 11:08

Yes, agreed, George Floyd was a career criminal who preyed on his own community.

Henry Novak wasn't a criminal, although he was treated like one. Of course people are going to be angry. The focus of the media and politicians should be: how can we fix this so that these sorts of injustices don't happen again.

But you can be angry and upset without inciting violence.

It frustrates me when people compare this situation to the George Floyd situation and BLM movement because they’re so different.

This was one case of someone being murdered by perpetrator and the police not giving him dignity or quick enough medical attention.

The other case was someone who was murdered but the police themselves and he was just final straw after years and years of people being murdered by the police because of racial injustice.

If the police had killed him, like they did with the other cases, then I would understand the knee jerk reaction to having these violent protests (even though I still wouldn’t condone it).

But I don’t understand how going out to attack police officers (and scare women and children) is helping.

Some police officers are awful but not all are.
Why are we promoting violence towards them like it’s the only way to change things.

I was in the Police for a while. The largest training module was "Diversity". In my intake we took in 2 people of ethnic minority who clearly would have failed if they were white. One didn't seem to have a clue about anything! The things he said were insane, he was seriously mentally challenged. And the other was so obese she failed the fitness test - they still "passed" because of box checking.

I grew up in a City with a huge Asian population. Me and my friends all fancied the boys, but we were only good enough for snogging, never taking home, as we were white trash that the families would never accept.

The left are so eager to integrate with our ethnic communities, but what they don't realise, is that if you're white, they don't want you! It's quite ironic really.

I worked for the local council before retiring and I saw this practice too. Some people were employed because of ethnicity and not in spite of it.

Yes, it is noticeable everywhere now, people just don"t get away with spouting the woke/cancel shite any more, it is becoming archaic the same way the "entertainment" shows of the 1970"s now look ridiculously out of touch, which is a shame really because the original meaning of "Woke" had merit, it is just that too many nutters have chosen to hang their personal issues on the bandwagon and run it into the ground.

People are willfully misunderstanding OP. I don't have a huge problem with swearing but think having 'fucking' between Henry and Nowak is different to using it elsewhere in the sentence.

'Does Henry fucking Nowak look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?'
feels quite different to me to
'Does Henry Nowak look as if he had white fucking privilege when he was lying on the floor?'
Or
'Does Henry Nowak fucking look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?'

If it's ok then is he ok with doing the same to other victims of crime? The Southport girls? It's incredibly disrespectful.

Of course it's crass, he's a thug?

But that is not the point here. What needs to be challenged isn't one rogue activist's manners but systemic and bureaucratic failure of how the police treated Henry.

Someshinesomedont · 04/06/2026 11:30

I dont believe Starmer gives two hoots about Henry Nowak, he is just terrified that it reiterates the two tier policing and justice system.

Hate farage and the other one, whose name I can't remember.

but

You are massively and terribly missing the point @Whereismyjoiedevivre

The boy died because of police receiving extreme Equality & Diversity Training. I am from an ethnic minority, or rather 2 ethnic minorities all mixed up. Detest Farage and co but what happened Henry is a scandal. It's evil. Vickrum Digwa is evil, his family are evil and the identity politics driven, bureaucratic machinery of Hampshire Police is evil.

Reiterating while finding Farage and co extremely worrying, they are drawing attention to this outrageous misuse of police resources. They are exploiting it for sure, but of there wasn't a situation to exploit they wouldn't.

Does anyone know which company delivered that hateful training to Hampshire Police? Name and shame?

It feels like you’re nitpicking to suit your own agenda to be honest.

5128gap · 04/06/2026 11:23

Yes its appalling. Splitting Henry's name like that shows clearly that to SYL he is not a human being deserving of being referred to respectfully, but merely an argument to make.
However he is preaching to his choir of like minded thugs and half wits, who will aggressively defend him regardless.

WondersofJobby · 04/06/2026 11:21

Can anyone tell me of any other instances where white people have been victims of police racism? I can't think of any. I don't think this is a police are racist issue, maybe some police need more training issue, or police processes need to be different issue. It is disgusting the TR and NF are ignoring the wishes of this poor boy's family and using his name for their political games.
I am saying this as a white person who understands what white privilege is and that is exists.

mummymeister · 04/06/2026 11:19

there is a whole cohort of young white men in our communities who are overlooked - for jobs, in education, by the police. and its growing.

and if people cant see the potential for problems with this then lord help us.

I am not on the right or left wing. this was an appalling incident. but just as we had the stephen lawrence enquiry we now need one into this and how we are policed. this could have been my son.

this has done more to fuel the rise of the far right amongst young people than anything else.

and honestly the whole carrying a ceremonial knife - when has religion trumped the law of the land. its ceremonial so carry a plastic one.

Goldenbear · 04/06/2026 10:47

If you are done with politics, how do you expect systems to change, issues to be addressed, via lawlessness?

How is getting your knickers in a twist about what Farrage and Robinson have said going to change things? That is my point. I ignore what these people say because listening to them (that includes starmer) changes nothing!
People have the ability to change things without listening to these parasites. Look at covid for example - we were very close to having a ‘no jab no job’ policy implemented but the people said no and refused to get vaccinated so the government literally backtracked on the decision the day before it was due to be implemented.
This was done without listening to what the politicians we’re peddling. And this is my point. Reacting emotionally to the words of politicians solves nothing!

Do you think that Tommy Robinson genuinely cares about Henry Nowak and his family? I think the swear word is just one of many ways he's shown that he doesn't care at all.

Yes.

We absolutely should care about respect to the victim and their families and it’s very telling that some posters are not only excusing flagrant disrespect but positioning themselves as morally superior because they aren’t focusing on such minor matters.

Meanwhile, we know from the families of murder victims that apparently trivial things like the press calling the person by a version of their name they were never known by can cause unnecessary distress.

Jellox · 04/06/2026 11:09

PenelopePinkerton · 04/06/2026 10:57

I was appalled by both deaths. The difference is one is in my country where live and can express my opinions about it in the hope that systems change.

Unfortunately the family have no influence on this s it is a political matter. I disagree with the approach of TR but I support his right to do it s we live in a democracy.

Violence tends to be the result of not being heard and again I don’t agree with far right politics but the views need acknowledging.

I absolutely agree with you about violence being the result of not being heard again and again.
This is why the BLM movement was bound to happen sooner or later, not that I’m condoning any violence or looting etc.

But this is the first case of this happening in this country.
This isn’t years of systematic racial injustice where people are afraid to call the police in case they’re the ones that get killed.
This isn’t another woman getting killed by a man.

The boy was killed by someone else, not the police.

No one has spent years trying to get their voices heard about this situation.
Half of the people don’t even know what they’re upset about.

The police failed him by not giving him the appropriate care and lessons need to be learnt and things need to change.

There is also the issue of people who can carry knifes (not that it would have made much difference in this situation as he wasn’t allowed to carry that knife anyway).

But why the need for (violent) protesting?
There are many horrendous cases that haven’t resulted in protesting, so why has this one.

It is the ‘right’ that have spent years calling the ‘left’ snowflakes and woke and thinking the police and prison service have gone soft but are now asking for the same thing the left have been.
There is just no need for protests in this situation, especially if it’s going to cause the grieving family more distress.

I couldn’t imagine the heartbreak of my child being murdered, being given no sympathy from the police, dying afraid and in pain - for some low lives to then exploit his death for their own gain.
It makes me sick.

@Jellox the only people outraged aoiut Floyd's death were the shrieking lefties, while the rest of us looked on incredulously.
Do you think their would have been riots if it had been a white drug addled criminal who threatened a pregnant woman with a gun, instead of a black one?

Yes, agreed, George Floyd was a career criminal who preyed on his own community.

Educate yourself - one of the most patronising lines ever used. BLM thrust violence on society during Covid. Wonder how many if you were vocal then in that drumming up of hate and division. Why is it only black people who are allowed to rise up against prejudice?

Firstly, it's not patronising if it's true. Secondly, the majority of BLM protests were peaceful. Some were not, there will ALWAYS be people who take advantage of tragic situations and twist them for their own gains. Like you, Farage and TR. Henry Nowak's father HIMSELF said he did not want his son's death to be used to create hate and division and yet look at how many of you are doing exactly that...He didnt want anyone to 'rise up' as you so aggressively put it. Thirdly, BLM was a movement entirely dedicated to the countless incidents spanning centuries of police brutality against blacks. If you still dont understand, educate yourself.

Anyone outraged by Henry Nowak’s death should have also been outraged by George Floyd’s death, considering they apparently care so much about racial injustice within the police force.
You cannot be outraged by one and not the other - that doesn’t make sense.

On average 18 people die in police custody every year in the UK.
Why are people not outraged by that?
Why have there not been protests about that if people truly care about police injustice?

Why have there not been protests over the multiple failings in the case of Beastie house where police and social services failed to act where children were being gang raped, abused, tortured and attempted murder?

Why have there been no protests where the boys convicted of gang raping 2 girls on separate occasions and planning to commit more, were given such a light sentence?

Why when Sarah Everard was TR no where to be seen, he did not incite any protests nor were there violent, drunken protestors scaring people on the street?

It’s almost like people are picking and choosing what they’re outraged by 🤔

PenelopePinkerton · 04/06/2026 10:57

Jellox · 04/06/2026 10:29

George Floyd’s death and Henry Nowak’s death are completely different.

If you are outraged by Henry Nowak’s death then you must also have been outraged (even more so) by George Floyd’s death.

Anyone who attended the protests for Henry Nowak’s death should have also attended the protests for the BLM movement and supported those taking the knee, considering it was about racial injustice amongst the police force - or do you only care if the victim is white?

No one with an ounce of intelligence would condone any violent protests.

But the difference in this situation is that the grieving family have begged people to not disrespect them and Henry by exploiting his death for political gain or to create division.

Anyone who actually cares about the death of Henry Nowak, would not go against his family’s wishes.
Anyone supporting these protests or TR does not care about the death of Henry Nowak.

I was appalled by both deaths. The difference is one is in my country where live and can express my opinions about it in the hope that systems change.

Are you aware that the police ask the family of the bereaved to say that they want no violence in the aftermath of these crimes?
Do you believe the poor family just stood there and said the first thing that came into their head? Or is it more likely it had been pre agreed with police and legal teams?

Exactly this. We don’t actually know what the family are thinking or feeling about it all. Public statements are just that and no family is going to say “actually yes we do want violence”. That would be an offence in itself! Not that I’m saying Henry’s family feel that way but the same statement is trotted out time and again after these things and it does sound somewhat rehearsed at this point.

Ultimately we can debate it all we want on MN but the wider general public are angry and they are lapping up all these speeches. Serious questions do need to be answered and addressed. This can’t be swept under the rug.

I don’t agree with or support Robinson, Farage etc and they are absolutely just using this for their own gain. However, they do have a platform that ordinary people don’t and noise does need to be made about Henry’s treatment. I’m not often affected by the news in general but that video of him being arrested absolutely broke my heart.

Oh yes, the plumber that's now the target of white middle class bubble living lefties. Well nobody saw that one coming.

Absolutely nothing wrong with being a plumber, it's one of the most important jobs in society. We'd all be living in shit, quite literally, without them. However, a plumber from Makersfield is not a high profile candidate in the slightest and the guy is most definitely a wrong un. He's a nobody in comparison to Matt Goodwin who anyone who has been paying attention to politics, especially far right politics, is aware of. My point is they aren't doing as well at they pretend they are. If they were they would have fielded a very high profile candidate to fight Burnham. They haven't as they're still licking their wounds over the fact they lost to a very capable and competent plumber in G&D.
