To be totally APPALLED by how Robinson referred to Henry Nowak in his “speech” in Southampton on Tuesday?

Whereismyjoiedevivre · 04/06/2026 09:22

I’ve just seen a clip of this in a Guardian article on the main agitators in Southampton on Tuesday.
TR refers to Henry Nowak in this way: “White privilege?! Does Henry swear word beginning with F Nowak look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?”
He then smirks as he looks down, clearly proud of himself for delivering such an eloquent speech [sarcasm].
I’m beyond disgusted by how the name of this beautiful young man, who has lost his life in the most brutal way, was used in such a disrespectful way in order to rouse a rabble and boost TR’s ego.
AIBU to say that over the last two days TR, NF and their ilk are really showing us who they are and what motivates them?

Exactly.... People being called jobless and inarticulate on this thread when they have different opinions, so mature.

But like calling people "racist" because they want proper border control for example, no one really cares anymore, the agenda and danger of those who seek to ban others they deem "thick" from taking part in democracy is well flagged up now, they know they are being watched and called out at every step.

That poster has done the left's cause no favours. Straight out of a 6th form bully girl pack.

Dunno. Maybe to quote the right, ‘enough is enough’ and we ‘need to start calling things out as what they are’. After all, ‘You can’t say anything without people being offended these days’ and it’s gone too far.

Id say people lobbing bricks and failing to respect the wishes of the family of a murder victim, whilst conflating the actions of two very sub standard police officers and one vile Sikh murderer, with society in general and Sikhs in general, probably aren’t very bright at best, are unlikely to be employed at senior leadership level and at worst are actually our biggest problem. In fact in my view anyone rioting outside police stations is a scum bag whatever they think they are doing it for.

Just my opinion and as we have free speech in this country (which my grandad fought for etc etc) then surely it’s fine for me to say it and hold these prejudices as if they are fact?

Im not a fan of Mr Robinson but if thats what you are "APPALLED" at in the matter of Henry Novaks murder and the police handling of this matter there is something very ,very wrong with you......

Can we accept that you can be appalled by Henry Nowak’s death, and the way it happened, and think TR is an opportunistic arsehole?

Whereismyjoiedevivre · 04/06/2026 13:08

Megifer · 04/06/2026 10:22

Im not a fan of the thug, but I do think you have hugely misunderstood unfortunately. There are so many things that could be used to discredit TR. His use of a swear word to punctuate a sentence is very weak one and just looks like youre grasping at straws.

He used the word Fuck to “punctuate” Henry Nowaks’s name.

He's spot on.

Assuming you mean that TR is spot on in debunking any idea about white privilege. Henry Novak was treated as he was by the police because he was white and a brown man accused him of racism. And you can hear that happening on the bodycam footage - if you can bear to watch it.

InOverMyHead84 · 04/06/2026 13:04

Poor taste to use the word like that. But, as vile as TR is. His point is sound here.

Focusing on an offensive word in this context rather than the poor lads death is everything wrong with how we go about things in example.

IrnBruAndDietCoke · 04/06/2026 09:37

FFS people are getting killed and the left are STILL arguing over semantics. 🤦‍♀️

What about those who are not "the left"? It's quite a childish view to take. Lefties or right.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/06/2026 13:03

Abhannmor · 04/06/2026 12:51

I must admit to being astonished at how deftly TR - and the far right in general - can flip the narrative to suit the circumstances. His followers either don't notice or don't care. For example Poles and other east European and Balkan people were blamed for all of society's ills less than 10 years ago. And Sikhs were often praised as ' the good brown people '. Fast forward.

Then there's the attitude to the police. After the murder of Sarah Everard , Nigel Farage made a statement calling for calm. It would be wrong to start blaming all police officers or all men he said . Likewise he fully supported the police after the Manchester Airport punch up. But now....they are just a goon squad oppressing white people and it's open season on them. Nauseating levels of hypocrisy.
Of course he is quite right that one should not generalise about people on the basis of their sex , religion or nationality. It's just not his strong suit though.

This! But NF supporters don’t seem to appreciate any level of complexity or nuance.

Regardless or your view on Robinson, and he’s a shady character, the fact that you have to really scrape the bottom of the barrel and reach in order to find a way to deflect from the issue shows how wokery is fast going out of fashion.

Keep trying to gaslight people into thinking there is no problem with two tier policing, you are losing the argument. Everyone can see what is happening. Two tier policing is real.

Bullshit. Evidence of two tier policing? Because this awful tragedy isn't.

And if by wokery you mean 'not being racist', sadly you're right. Not being racist is definitely going out of fashion. Doesn't make racism OK.

LuckyHazelFox · 04/06/2026 12:58

What part of balance needs to be struck don't you get? Ah, you're from the other thread. Didn't a poster just say certain posters repeat the same things over threads. Works both ways. I've got some work to do so excuse me if I don't get back to you.

Balance would involve having been as publicly concerned about the racial profiling of non white people as you are now.

Otherwise, that’s not balance - is it.

You’ve neglected to answer my question on that twice now. Let’s therefore go with not actually balanced.

Ta very much, enjoy work!

5128gap · 04/06/2026 13:01

PenelopePinkerton · 04/06/2026 12:37

And you are part of the problem. I’m left of centre but need to hear the opinions of those who are further right than me.

Nonsense. My choice of what to engage with on mumsnet has absolutely no influence at all on any problem.
Just because I have no interest in hearing from supporters of SYL on a discussion forum, it doesn't mean I am closed minded or uneducated about the views of others.
And even if I were, that doesn't make me responsible for the actions of murderers, rioters and the police.

HobGobblynne · 04/06/2026 13:00

LuckyHazelFox · 04/06/2026 12:48

You need to warm down after that huge stretch. Some people want the balance to finally be smack bang in the middle - no favours or castigation to ANY race or religion.

But if every time there is any violence between two people with different levels of melanin we make it a race issue, we'll never get anywhere.

Henry was failed by the attending officers in this case. Horrendously. But there is no evidence that it's because he was white. The court said it wasn't racially motivated, Henry's parents said the same and yet we're supposed to defer to TR & NF's superior knowledge of the intricacies of the case?

olivepicanto · 04/06/2026 13:00

OP. I'm only surprised that you're surprised.

Tommy is a sad, pathetic little man who appeals to the dregs of society.

No I’m giving statistics and common sense.

If you don’t believe me that TR will get less support on this thread this evening, come back to it and see for yourself.

It seems to me that you're implying that the people disagreeing with the OP are somehow less intelligent than those posting later in the day.

Yet here you are posting at the same time as them. 😁

I'm not saying that those on the left are always solipsistic, nor indeed am I saying that you are left wing, but it does seem to be a trait.

Your grandfather fought against fascism to see it now arising from the left, I agree. Many lost military lives were in vain when those very men would be treated unfavourably now. That is why veterans' societies have so many volunteers while the government are prioritising others.

Fascism can't arise from the left. You have to be supremely ignorant to think it can.

napody · 04/06/2026 12:56

EarthlyNightshade · 04/06/2026 09:38

I agree with you, OP.

But things are so bad here now, the far right have more or less won.

<I'm not "left", I am pretty much centre>

Same.
He should take Henry Nowak's name out of his vile mouth. His poor family having to see their beautiful son be used as a prop of racists.

And Im using racist rather than 'far right' because thats what Tommy Robinson is. The mask that it's about immigration has well and truly slipped. Mark Nowak is an immigrant. The murderer was British. All the pps commenting that the likes of Yaxley Lennon 'has a point' object to the use of 'far right' because they think their position is more moderate that that. They're wrong. Far right was generous. It was playing down their hatred. They're good old fashioned racist.

It was a vile, evil crime, by a vile, evil individual. Not a community.

The police fucked up and were manipulated by vile manipulators. This happens all the time in DV situations- mistaking perp and victim. It shouldn't have happened but all the racists should just admit that they're GLAD it has.

LuckyHazelFox · 04/06/2026 12:56

CagedBirdInACage · 04/06/2026 12:54

It doesn't have to be an academic paper to tell the truth. Nowak died because he was stabbed. If the police had zero diversity training Nowak would still have died from the stab wounds inflicted on him by Digwa. If the police would have rocked up handcuffed Digwa, knelt on his neck and called him racist slurs whilst straight away performing first aid on Nowak he still would have died. His death wasn't as a result of 'extreme diversity training' as you claimed it was, it was because he was stabbed like the 171 other people were victims of fatal stabbings in England and Wales in 2025. There are 40-50000 knife related crimes recorded in England and Wales every year. Nowak died because there is a knife crime problem and he was stabbed.

His name is Henry.

Racial profiling has been addressed and overcompensated for to the degree where, once again, the balance hasn't been struck. That is what the public concern is for. You know, those inarticulate, rambling right wing idiots.

Were you on here saying the same thing when that profiling wasn’t targeted towards white people?

Imagine your 18 year old child is called Sally Potter.

Imagine she’s brutally murdered and a horrifying clip of her final moments broadcast for everyone to see.

Imagine the country’s most controversial political rabble rouser hijacking her murder for his own reputational gain and making a speech at a protest referring to her as

“Sally Fucking Potter”

How would you feel? Is this acceptable?

No it’s not acceptable.
and neither is using his murder for political gain or to insight riot.

CagedBirdInACage · 04/06/2026 12:54

LevisForMe · 04/06/2026 12:25

This isn’t an academic essay or professional communications, so I didn’t carefully review my words before but I wrote what I instinctively feel.

Let me clarify.

As Henry lay dying on the ground, he wasn’t believed by those entrusted to protect us. When he begged for help, none was given. Instead, he was dragged and handcuffed, which may have worsened his injuries and sped up his death. If police hadn't handled him in that way, who knows, maybe his parents would have had the chance to say good bye.

His was arrested and rights were read to him after he had been stabbed 6 times and then taunted and bullied by Digwa while dying. The Digwas as a family denied him help and any chance of making good what their evil son had done (disgusting, lying family).

Henry was surround by police but no one competent, compassionate or with common sense supported him in his final moments.

Because someone cried racist wolf falsely, and given that the Hampshire police are trained to avoid any accusations of racism at all costs, there was a bias against Henry and in favour of the Digwa family.

It’s clear that the Digwas exploited this system, which is wrong and unjust. The police receive training to deal with unconscious bias but it is actually creating new bias in police work, not fairness and equality.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has its own Race Action Plan for 2024-2026, which explicitly states that it supports the national plan and includes commitments such as:

Being an anti-racist organisation.
Understanding the history of policing minority ethnic communities.
Training officers in cultural awareness.
Reviewing racial disparities in police powers and outcomes

The Hampshire training course called Inclusion Matters and covers topics such as racism, unconscious bias, privilege and allyship. Media reports say that some officers felt pressured by aspects of the course.

The police historically has a problem with racism and sexism and addressing racism is important. I have been on the receiving end of racism but these training programmes are not fit for purpose. They are shallow, divisive and informed by contested identity politics. It weakens social cohesion, is unacceptable and we must insist in change to actually support a diverse society.

Other than Farage and his cronies no one will touch this with a barge pole but they are drawing attention to it and unfortunately in the process winning political ground. Plus ça change.

It doesn't have to be an academic paper to tell the truth. Nowak died because he was stabbed.
