To think Nigel Farage should be locked up?

He was inciting violence with his “address to the nation” speech, calling for rage.

Meanwhile, he doesn’t care when women are actually murdered by the police

Surely enough is enough and they need to take action?

Nigel Farage MP (@Nigel_Farage) on X

We must not allow the tragic murder of a young woman turn into attacks on men and attacks on the police.

Calling people fucking this, arsewipes, fucking that, hate mongers is indeed hateful. I'm not a NF fan but honestly calm down, have a cup of tea and share opinions without aggressive attacks on politicians.

I bet if NF called someone a hate mongering fucking arsewipe you'd soon complain.

If I want to call Farage an arsewipe, I’ll call him an arsewipe, it’s actually quite mild for what I actually want to call him.

FREEDOM OF SPEEEEECH! And all that …..

'You bend over backwards to defend a party of Neo Nazis on every politics thread I see'

I've never defended neo nazis. Fixed that for you.

Just try less inflammatory language is all I'm saying.

Edited

When Farage and his supporters stop making inflammatory statements that are clearly designed to whip up hatred and stoke division, then perhaps people might stop using inflammatory language to talk about them. But not before.

FurierTransform · 05/06/2026 18:06

No ofc he shouldn't be locked up. I also saw the bbc apologised for making up something they said that he said.

Gloria, respectfully, I couldn’t care a jot what you think of my language. My hatred for that disgusting human being runs deep and I used some passionate, amplified language to express that.

I’m not a public figure who has spent my entire career hating, lying and manipulating masses of people to further myself. He has got nothing positive to offer anyone.

Guess what, Richard Tice is now on X complaining about Sainsbury’s selling 100% white eggs! (If anything you would think this would be very pleasing to him! 😂) but they have nothing but anger and hate. Anything they can complain about!!

Always turn things around to play the victim, don’t they? Unless it’s their hateful speech about everybody else that’s different to them, then that’s fine 😂😂😂

Pippin2017 · 05/06/2026 17:50

I don't think it's inflammatory to suggest Farage is hate filled. I think he probably is. Right from boyhood he seems to have had issues with non white, non Christian people.
ETA I find that a problem in someone who wants to be PM.

Gloriia · 05/06/2026 17:47

You've no idea who I'm voting for. We aren't talking about the Nazis, we are talking about you using incredibly unpleasant language to describe someone and accusing them of being 'hate filled'.

Maybe try leading by example and have adult debate without inflammatory language hmm? Just a thought.

You bend over backwards to defend a party of Neo Nazis on every politics thread I see 😂

You said ‘No one deserves hate and no one is a cancer on society’ respectfully, I disagree.

Funny how they seem to treat migrants like a cancer on society isn’t it? And benefit claimants, and disabled people. That’s all fine, is it?

Gloriia · 05/06/2026 17:47

Teanbiscuits33 · 05/06/2026 17:43

What about the Nazis, Gloria? Did they deserve hate? Were they not a cancer on society? Because you’re voting for a very similar party who using near identical tactics to create anger and division, but of course you will disagree.

@APintofBitterPleaseLandlord have you seen the statistics another poster has posted about arrests etc, I am not sure the two tier policing people are complaining about is as effective as they think it is.

'She is giving her opinion, she isn’t asking anyone else to say bad things about him or calling for people to rise at dawn and attack him'

We can all give our opinions. It would seem ironic to call someone a fucking fascist hate filled arsewipe though. Bit hateful, no?

Who called for anyone to rise at dawn and go attack someone? I missed that.

Pippin2017 · 05/06/2026 17:43

The really scarey thing though, is that Farage is a one trick pony. It's all about immigration. If every single immigrant left the UK tomorrow, no-one's life in the UK would change one iota.

And that's all Reform have. Their manifesto is not worth the paper it's written on, their costings make Liz Truss look like John Stuart Mill. I'm in a Reform council area, God help me, and their leadership to date is primarily taking some flags down and putting other flags up. They've prevaricated over their election promises, in fact completely reneged on most of them. They seem to be waging war on anything that could be deemed 'liberal' in their eyes.

I think every single penny going into party funding (for all parties, not just Reform), should be subject to intense scrutiny, and would not be at all surprised to see money from US Christian Nationalists flooding into Reform's coffers. This is worrying. There will be some quid pro quo down the line.

Gloriia · 05/06/2026 17:40

No-one deserves hate. No one is a 'cancer' on society. I'm sorry for whatever you've endured but your attacks do not make you any different than those you criticise.

Nigel deserves all the hate that comes his way. He levels enough of it at others. He and those who surround him are a cancer on society. Ditto Rupert Lowe.

'He’s a fucking fascist, grifting, hate mongering arsewipe of a man'

And that isn't hate mongering?! How very ironic to spit out such bile, waah'ing about someone else 'hate mongering'. Lefties always so very selective with their wanting to #BeKind

She is giving her opinion, she isn’t asking anyone else to say bad things about him or calling for people to rise at dawn and attack him.

I think Farage, Trump, Tommy Robinson, Netanyahu and Zak Polanski are cunts. Thats my opinion I’m not trying to make everyone else think the same

Teanbiscuits33 · 05/06/2026 17:14

My point appears to have gone completely over your head. The point I was making is If you’re on Mumsnet or elsewhere actively endorsing Reform, then whether or not someone insults you isn’t going to make a blind bit of difference to your support, you supported them anyway.

If however, someone wasn’t going to vote Reform but decide to based on the fact they were called stupid for saying something remotely positive about Farage or whatever, then I’m afraid to say, they are exactly that - stupid. Politics should be about policies, not poor emotional regulation.

Of course Farage is seen as a threat. He’s a fucking fascist, grifting, hate mongering arsewipe of a man, and he’s a serious, serious threat to the very fabric of society. Unfortunately, a significant number of people can’t or won’t see that and will sleep walk into it. It’s frightening.

You still aren't getting it @Teanbiscuits33 but nevermind.

Wow, you really haven't done yourself any favours with this paragraph.

If you think Farage is all of that then you better hope that Labour deal with this two tier policing effectively (the eyes of the world are watching), install a strong leader and generally get their house in order. Otherwise at the next GE result will be the colour blue (shade to be confirmed).

But why call people those names?
Is it because you don't like someone having a different opinion/voting a different way?
To shut down their opinion?

Who people vote for lies squarely with them. It’s nobody else’s ’fault’ or responsibility. Own your choices.

Yes of course, it's called a democracy.

I'd currently probably call myself politically homeless, we have a disappointingly weak PM and Labour have been a huge disappointment so next GE I might vote Conservative, I might vote Reform, who knows. What is certain is that I will absolutely own my voting choices and also respect the vote of others without the need to throw childish names around.

What is also clear from this thread is Farage is much disliked, clearly seen as a threat and some posters would rather like to see him locked up. Fortunately, we have freedom of speech in this country.

Funny then that we were swamped by people from EE and Spain and most young Brits went to U.S/Canada/Australia? If you are after a bar job, well yes it is not probably so viable now, if you have top banking or IT skills the company will have you in Frankfurt or wherever ASAP if you are genuinely needed, and of course you would need the language skills that most Brits don"t have, for most Brits the EU was always just a place to sit in the sun and drink alcohol, the idea that we have lost a great opportunity is for the most part just nonsense.

I think, to a certain extent, it did seem as if a lot of people came very quickly. The FOM could, and maybe should, have been phased in. Another of Blair's decisions.

CurlewKate · 05/06/2026 17:06

Boomer55 · 05/06/2026 16:59

I loathe Farage, but either we have freedom of speech or we don’t. If we cancel that right, then it will affect a lot of protest groups.

Be careful what you wish for.

Yes, we have freedom of speech. But we don’t have consequence free freedom of speech. Or the freedom to shout “FIRE!” In a crowded theatre. Which is kind of what Farage did.

Having friction-free access to a market of over 200 million people, as well as job opportunities for Brits bright enough and sufficiently motivated to learn a foreign language and have the curiosity to experience other cultures was a very good thing, and it was available to everyone.

Now as you say, it’s only available to elites with banking or top IT skills.
