To think Nigel Farage should be locked up?

He was inciting violence with his “address to the nation” speech, calling for rage.

Meanwhile, he doesn’t care when women are actually murdered by the police

Surely enough is enough and they need to take action?

Nigel Farage MP (@Nigel_Farage) on X

We must not allow the tragic murder of a young woman turn into attacks on men and attacks on the police.

They did that because they failed to check his condition and were being deliberately distracted by multiple members of the killer’s family.

Not “because he was white”.

The fact he was white, the alleged victim was an Indian Sikh, and the latter and his family were shouting and screaming about racism had everything to do with it. Police are on heightened alert to react to any alleged race related incident as it's designated as a 'hate crime'. A dying, young white man simply doesn't cut it in their eyes.

Edited for spelling.

Do we know why other members of the Digwa family did not face any charges. Was it not to distract from the main murder charge?

sittingonabeach · 07/06/2026 16:22

@yellowspanner do you have proof that is the reason they handcuffed him. Hampshire police have been found wanting in their restraint training. Maybe we should wait for the review into the arrest

You are being completely unreasonable. Nigel Farage is right. The police handcuffed a dying man because he was white. Absolutely two tier policing

Funny then that we were swamped by people from EE and Spain and most young Brits went to U.S/Canada/Australia? If you are after a bar job, well yes it is not probably so viable now, if you have top banking or IT skills the company will have you in Frankfurt or wherever ASAP if you are genuinely needed, and of course you would need the language skills that most Brits don"t have, for most Brits the EU was always just a place to sit in the sun and drink alcohol, the idea that we have lost a great opportunity is for the most part just nonsense.

French bars and restaurants unlikely to employ a Brit over a French person anyway. EU or no EU. Even if the British person’s French was good enough.

He’s trying to navigate a line between appearing reasonable and appealing to more extreme voters who may be attracted by Restore. It’ll be interesting to see how, or if, his handling of this affects his support. Particularly if KB continues to present a much more reasoned response.

Brokentoes85 · 06/06/2026 18:23

Agree. He's also broken electoral law several times. Threatening voters. Classy.

Farage is very clever. He makes speeches which he knows will rile up his base but have plausible deniability. It was the same.with Southport, 'I was only asking questions '.
Now that he's an actual MP he shouldn't be allowed to get away with this shit.

He can't be stopped as they'd just love him more. And as you say, he manages to stay the right side of the law. They need to throw the book at the rioters and show them where listening to Farage gets them.

Directing ire at Farage is a distraction tactic. What is disgusting is that the government coerces and threatens grieving families in cases like these that mustn’t speak their mind. That they must say the obligatory soundbites about preserving the woke status quo or they will be personally held responsible in case people react badly.

This is a good article which explains that the Conservative Commissioner for Hampshire has been helping to support Henry's family. As well as the meetings with Keir and with Kemi:

The police response to the murder of Henry Nowak has triggered a heated transatlantic debate.

Are you actually saying that the government coerced the father of Henry Nowak to make this very moving statement:

'We do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred, or tension. We want his story to make our streets safer for everyone.'

Just because you wouldn't make a statement calling for calm and unity doesn't mean that even people who are bereaved in the most dreadful of circumstances wouldn't genuinely want to calm tensions and minimise the chance of violence from right-wing thugs.

There is another thread where the OP asked whether grieving families are told what to say, and posters who are involved in such situations including a poster who unfortunately was a grieving relative confirmed that they are not told what to say.

I don’t think you understand your own figures. Try combining all the black groups.

And I don't think you understand basic maths or per capita.

If you average all three black groups it comes out at 29.4. But I don't see the value in that figure because within that number there is a lot of divergence between say Black other, Black Caribbean and Black African.

We used to have a local bike motor cycle show with bands etc.

The Police took no notice of drug use, illegal bikes/loud exhausts

Same at Glastonbury, i ve been to Notting hill carnival and to a huge multi day m/c race in southern France, with a great deal of illegality, inc very hi speeds on local roads.

Police enforce the law with consent, charging in arresting people in mass participation events would lead to riots and violence which they could not deal with.

As Pride rallies are totally legal, usually very peaceful (unless the far right get involved) not quite sure why you've a beef about these.

Pride rallies peaceful? Pride rallies are currently an absolute shit show arena of identity politics where lesbians are banned for having the audacity to assert their right to women only in their spaces and in their beds, gay men are attacked for asserting their right to men only in their spaces and in their beds, many pride rally organisers have been found to be paedophiles. And the police make it clear whose side they are on in this horrendous culture war which they absolutely shouldn't, but hey no one wants to get on the wrong side of the TRAs so I guess it's a lot easier to follow the zeitgeist of the day rather than actually uphold the law...

Exactly, weren't they all 'taking the knee' and encouraging all the unrest.

In 2018, David Lammy described Trump as a "tyrant" and "a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath". Yes he's since backtracked but I've no idea why some on here are so very horrified at US politicians criticising the balls ups in this country when ours do exacty the same to them.

Let's see what Vance does in his own country then. He has some form on this kind of rhetoric. Sadly, a victim's father had to call out the falsehood:

Father of Aiden Clark blasts Trump, Vance for using son for ‘political gain’ - The Washington Post

APintofBitterPleaseLandlord · 06/06/2026 10:27

I wouldn't be happy if I attended a Pride march, found myself the victim of a petty crime (or worse) all whilst a number of police at the front were lined up and dancing the 'Macarena'🙄. That is not policing.

The number of cop cars painted in Pride colours is tiny and homosexuality etc has been discriminated against for many years and still is, the act of aligning with Pride is to tell the public that the Police will be neutral when dealing with the LGBT community.

Totally different from paint cars in a political parties colours, as well you know.

There’s a massive problem with antisemitism in the U.K., but I can’t see a police car with a Star of David on it going down well.

No I don’t know.

My view is that the police aligning publicly with any political cause is wrong.

And I believe Pride is political: it was meant to be, that was the point, and it’s still highly contested, as we can see with the sex-based vs identity-based rights clash, with arguments about where Q and T belong, with progress vs pride colours.

That should be a big warning sign for the police to stay clear.

How many police cars would you consider acceptable painted in colours of Labour, Tory, Israel, Palestine, Buddhist, animal rights, farmers welfare, etc etc etc. Would you support a police car in suffragette colours to police a women’s rights rally? Or a trans rights one?

Gloriia · 06/06/2026 10:05

'The number of cop cars painted in Pride colours is tiny'

Tiny but very well publicised as we are all aware of them.

They don't need to paint cars to support causes. They're the police we should be able to presume they support all causes.

Their priorities should be public safety and assisting collapsed people needing immediate medical attention but sadly not.

Alexandra2001 · 06/06/2026 09:51

GeneralPeter · 06/06/2026 09:24

Policing with consent relies on public trust that police will be fair and impartial.

Aligning the police with causes directly undermines that.

Labour Party rallies are usually peaceful. So are GC campaigners. So are Catholic masses, Muslim Iftars and Jewish Seders.

It would be utterly appalling and corrosive to have police cars in Labour, GC, Catholic, Muslim or Jewish colours. Becuase neutrality matters.

The pp didn't say they had a 'beef' with pride rallies they pointed out painting police cars in daft colours representing an ideology does not equate with neutrality, which is true. Plenty of platforms for supporting causes, it is not the role of the police to promote them.

We want them to be able to function effectively in chaotic scenes and recognise when someone is collapsed and needs immediate medical attention. Not drive about in pretty coloured cars.

Alexandra2001 · 06/06/2026 08:54

GeneralPeter · 06/06/2026 05:14

My personal view is that there is both.

There is undoubtedly ‘old-school’ racism and bias (eg Charing Cross tapes, the revelations that came out after Sarah Everard, etc).

Also plenty of examples of police failing to be neutral on ideological or identity grounds, eg turning a blind eye to grooming gangs in Rotherham, one-sided policing of GC/trans issues, painting their cars in Pride colours, senior officers taking the knee during BLM, accepting open criminality at Notting Hill Carnaval that would probably have any other event shut down, etc.

To me that is all genuinely two-tier policing based on which causes are politically fashionable. I think it is also very bad policing.
