To think Nigel Farage should be locked up?

He was inciting violence with his “address to the nation” speech, calling for rage.

Meanwhile, he doesn’t care when women are actually murdered by the police

Surely enough is enough and they need to take action?

Nigel Farage MP (@Nigel_Farage) on X

We must not allow the tragic murder of a young woman turn into attacks on men and attacks on the police.

Not that I agree with violent protests, but I can understand why these people have taken to protesting.
We as a nation are not listened to by our government, people are fed up with 2 tier policing, the way in which the police treated this young man in his final minutes.
What else are these, beer swigging, bin lighting...' people to do to get heard? What they have done has made headlines in global media and showed the world we operate a 2 tier justice system with limited free speech

@Whammyammy how long have you been talking about two tier policing? How long have these particular beer swigging people been protesting about two tier policing?

Ive smseen posts about 2 tier policing for the last few years. This is the first real protest I've seen. But I suppose when woke policies end up with police handcuffing victims that are bleeding to death, its riled the nation into action

TheGrimSmile · 04/06/2026 13:47

He is a self - serving con artist whose sole objective is to stir up hatred and violence. Why people cant see this is beyond me. And yes he should be in prison. But imagine his cult followers if they did this.

olivepicanto · 04/06/2026 13:40

So what they've achieved is notoriety. That's really helpful.

decent people would be ashamed 🤷🏻‍♀️

They've achieved a great deal. They've showed the world how awful our government and police act and treat its citizens, and hopefully shamed them both into reviewing current woke policies

So to be clear you have no problem with certain ethnic groups in society being allowed to carry weapons in public and other ethnic groups not? Rather than equality for all before the law?

I think it is exactly this lack of equality before the law (or two tier policing) is what is making people angry (or "rage" if you prefer)

It was a response to that post. Try and keep up.

Decent people like Henry Nowak's parents. Well, they'd be ashamed if they weren't already grief stricken.

No, I fail to understand. I don't live in England and I don't mix with these type that live in a society where rioting is the answer. The murderer has been jailed for life. The police will have an independent enquiry and action will be taken

knife crime is a major issue in the UK. in my small town there have been several knife murdered over the last few years. we haven't rioted or blamed the police or expected the prime minister to comment

its almost as if some people enjoy being part of the drama

Gee, its almost like your ignoring the police officers actions intentionally just so you can act confused.

It has zero relevance. It’s an expression of solidarity with the victim of murder by police brutality for which the perpetrator has been convicted.

Of course its relevant. He's the BRITISH PM, he didn't do this for Sarah Everard did he? Why do Americans matter so much more to him than Brits? Although I guess he doesn't give a shit about women in general, so add white to that and they're completely irrlevant to him, unless they're the special kind with a dick of course.

Your point isn't relevant to the topic and neither is it correct.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crldey0z00ro

I think the previous poster is correct - your link only shows Starmer hiding behind a spokesperson and a court judgment;

Asked if Sir Keir still believed that a transgender woman was a woman, the PM's official spokesman said: "No, the Supreme Court judgment has made clear that when looking at the Equality Act, a woman is a biological woman."

The spokesman added: "That is set out clearly by the court judgment."

olivepicanto · 04/06/2026 13:26

Sskka · 04/06/2026 13:02

Because the police attended, sided with the murderer, put the poor victim in handcuffs, and it’s probably anti-racism training which led them to do that.

Honestly. How can you claim not to understand why people are so furious about this case?

I think I fail to understand because the actual murderer was jailed and the police are already being investigated.

sittingonabeach · 04/06/2026 13:26

@EasternStandard but there has been calls from within the Police not to rush in and make reactive changes

There has been at least one thread MN about people ‘coming here’ and being allowed to carry weapons. So I wouldn’t get so complacent about anger not being aimed at the Sikh community.

Because this was the boiling point where it spilled over. George Floyd was also a boiling point.

Why an event becomes that is down to
timing for the most part. The wider context is a country with a government widely
perceived to be weak and unstable, in an economic malaise. There’s also the fact that this came on the heels of the grooming gang controversies, and the case of the traveler children being spared jail
for gang rape. From a PR standpoint, the optics are truly fucking terrible. People like Farage thrive in these periods because they know how to exploit them. He’s presenting as the strong man to Kier Starmer’s weak man.

Effectively combating it means understanding there’s a huge emotional
element to how people are feeling, and rationality isn’t always an effective counter when they’re running this high (and it certainly isn’t when considering the prevailing narrative of ‘the elites’ ignoring and talking down to the stupid little people).

Now would be a good time to do something highly visible and concrete, which doesn’t mean just launching an inquiry and doubling down on unpopular policy. Henry Nowak’s family asked for no violence, but they also expressed support for changing the law to remove religious exemptions. Invoking the former but completely ignoring the latter just makes the government look cynical and self serving.

A very comprehensive response and thanks for your viewpoint.

I don't live in the sort of neighbourhood where people behave like this so I was genuinely struggling to understand why this has become so huge.

BackToLurk · 04/06/2026 13:22

Looking forward to Nige’s response that the inquest will look at the police’s role in Henry’s death because Article 2 of the Human Rights has been triggered.

Are we having a minutes silence for every stabbing murder?

This was a terrible, terrible incident but why now?

The diversity policies are possibly an issue. They are not the only issue, and pretending they are, or that they are undoubtedly the main issue that led to Henry’s death only makes sense for those with an agenda to get rid of all diversity policies. That is Farage’s position, so let’s not pretend he, and others, are coming to this with an open mind.

They’re being assessed and urgently even the people who determine the policies acknowledge there’s an issue.

BackToLurk · 04/06/2026 13:18

1dayatatime · 04/06/2026 13:12

So this is the quote from Starmer today: "We really need to listen to Henry's family because they're asking us as politicians, as leaders, not to use his case to whip up division, not to cause disturbances. We have to listen to them."

Just to clarify my intense calm anger (or "pure cold rage") after watching the body cam footage of Henry Nowak's death is not directed at the Sikh community but at the Police for a) having a two tier policing system and b) having anti racism policies that state they are not to treat all ethnicities the same and not to be "colour blind".

For clarity the Sikh community is one of the most successful, contributing and integrated of religions within the UK. However there are bad apples in all walks of life and his actions have been thoroughly condemned by the Sikh community.

The anger is directed towards the police and their policies not the Sikh community.

HopefulYankee · 04/06/2026 13:15

I don’t like Farage but this is a free country and what he said was not illegal, therefore he should not be locked up. People have the right to an opinion however odious it may be.

BackToLurk · 04/06/2026 13:14

EasternStandard · 04/06/2026 12:59

The diversity policies are the issue, it’s a political problem to be resolved. If police follow them, in fact they have to, it’s not something they personally can resolve without the training being changed.

That comes from the top.

Handcuffing etc and their lack of assessment will come up in their specific investigation.
