AIBU to wear a white print dress to my brother’s wedding & dressing my DD in white too?

I plan to wear a white dress with a nature print on it for my brother’s wedding in August. Picked it out with DM, she thinks it’s definitely fine. The thing is my toddler DD will also be wearing a white. Do you think anyone would take offence? I’ve added a picture of a similar dress on this thread because I don’t want the actual one on here if I wear it.

Wondering what you think?

So relieved with your comments. To be clear the dress does not have a floral pattern but I would say the colour split white/pattern is similar to the pic I posted.

Not bridal at all, so it’s fine.

But the dress itself isn’t that nice. I know it’s not the same dress but as sister of the groom, I would think you should wear something nicer.

This!

Plus not black shoes.

The dress is fine for a wedding but if you are doubting yourself, check with bride/groom.

Are they having flower girls? Not sure about your 4 year old in a white dress if she isn’t a flower girl/bridesmaid.

Like @Chlorpool , I always thought the rule was that you should never wear anything which might lead you to be mistaken for the bride. But this has somehow morphed into “no white or cream”, I think because people make a bigger deal about photos. But I would say that was a floral dress rather than a “white” one. It’s very nice.

It isn't bridal at all wear it . What is your Dds dress like it might be too "bridesmaidy:

Toddler in white might look like a flower girl. Which may or may not be a problem ?
ask your brother and the wife to be!

The accent colour on the dress is more obvious than the base colour.

Dont wear white neans dont wear a long white gown. For children... dont look like a flower girl. (Esp for aclose family member who doesnt want a flower girl)

I think your dress is fine. It's got plenty colour about it. It's lovely.

I wouldn't dress your dd in white. People will think you're trying to insert her into the wedding party as a bridesmaid or flower girl.

Chlorpool · 02/06/2026 07:25

It's not remotely bridal.
And I'm sure a toddler in white will be fine.

Run it past the bride?
