AIBU to think a younger partner could genuinely find Justin Fletcher attractive?

Justin Fletcher (AKA Mr Tumble) has been in the news recently as the media have discovered he is with his co-star who is 21 years younger than him. I say good for them both and I hope they are happy.

There are so many comments however about her only being with him because of his money. I realise for certain people this would be an attractive prospect but I don’t understand why it’s so hard to believe a younger woman would find him attractive? I’m a similar age to her and if I was single I would date him, regardless of his money. I think he seems like a genuinely lovely, talented, hard-working man who is great with children and has done a lot for kids with special needs. That would be attractive to a lot of people. If I was with him I’d be happy to live in a small house and for him to leave his money to a children’s charity if he so wished.

So AIBU and naive to think there are others out there with a similar mindset to myself? I recognise there are gold-diggers out there but in this case I think Justin has a lot going for him even without his bank balance?

There's no way she would've picked a tubby little man 21 years her senior if he stacked shelves at Morrisons.

No way at all.

There is this yes!

He shares his birthday with my mum though (15th June) so if he’s anything like her he’s a lively character.

Doseofreality · 01/06/2026 15:56

Does he sing that awful song of his after sex I wonder?

That “Hello, hello, how are you? ……. I’m happy that you came” one

Brenzaida · 01/06/2026 15:55

I struggle to visualise him apart from that terrifying, manic smile, admittedly.

I think I actually think he's some kind of CBeebies version of The Joker.

flagpolesitta · 01/06/2026 15:55

Genuinely thought he batted for the other team.

I don’t know who Justin fletcher us
i dont know who mr tumble is….is he a guy that looks like chubby brown?
We all fall for different people for different reasons…melania being a prime example!

Needmorelego · 01/06/2026 15:47

What a horrible thread.
There's more to attraction than what someone looks like 🙄
(horrible as in that some people would even question their relationship)

JanBlues2026 · 01/06/2026 15:43

I think most of us have got the ‘ick’ from his cringey Tv characters not his looks, he is probably very different in real life.

00K · 01/06/2026 15:38

She’s 34, she’s a full grown adult ffs

00K · 01/06/2026 15:37

Oh my god I had a massive crush on him too! I can’t see why now at all but 18 years ago I adored him 😂

LaliqueSaltGrinder · 01/06/2026 15:37

Why are people assuming he is ridiculously wealthy? Yes he's been on telly for a long time. He's not on the BBC top earners list.

Bezziebev · 01/06/2026 15:34

Semi ashamed to admit that when dd was born 10 years ago I had a huge crush on Justin Fletcher and used to imagine being married to him 😅 I was very happily married (still.am) but I blame the hormones and seperation from "real life" on maternity leave 😅

VanquishedColston · 01/06/2026 15:26

I agree OP, I think people just particularly struggle to see children's entertainers outside of their on-screen personas. Obviously he is not Mr Tumble all the time and has a real life and personality outside of his work 😂

Yes she is younger than him but it's not that unusual to date with an age gap. He also has no children/ex-wife on the scene so it's not a complicated situation for her to get into, which it often would be when dating someone of his age.

There's no reason why she shouldn't genuinely want to date him - there is a lid for every pot and maybe she is his.

Thiswasanescapeplan · 01/06/2026 14:54

Fast forward a couple of years to when they have DC, if I were her, I'd be like: "oh kids look Mr Tumble is doing the bed time story!" And let Justin handle bedtimes every night 😅

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 01/06/2026 14:51

No I genuinely do not think she would be interested if he wasn't wealthy and famous. He can give her a nice lifestyle and he seems 'safe' (doesnt seem like a ladies man/potential cheat), that will be the draw.

The thing that gives me the biggest ick is she looks much, MUCH younger than her age. There’s something unsettling about a man in his 50s who works with children wanting to date someone who looks like a teenager.

She really doesn’t look like a teenager.

Genevieva · 01/06/2026 14:12

They have a lot in common. I imagine they quickly became firm friends through working together and attraction grew from there. This is a really good basis for a successful relationship.

StrawberryMatchaLatte · 01/06/2026 14:10

He's not generically attractive but people fancy all sorts of people, so yes I can believe it.

I'm not sure she looks like a teenager except when she is working and dressed up in CBeebies style toddler friendly clothes. At other times she looks very much like an adult. A very pretty adult with beautiful curly hair.

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 01/06/2026 14:07

Awww its nice hes found someone, and she's a full grown woman with a career of her own.
Each to their own!

DoAWheelie · 01/06/2026 14:07

People say it about all age gaps. I was often accused of being with my older OH for money. We were both poor as shit but I had (slightly) more than him.

I was with him as he was smart and funny and cute and completely in sync with me. We would talk for hours every day and never run out of topics, and he enhanced my life in every possible way.

Thiswasanescapeplan · 01/06/2026 14:05

Mrs Merton to Debbie McGee; "so tell me, what attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?"*

*Ps: this will go over the head of anyone under approx 35yo. No offence is intended, cultural reference circa late 90s.

He also looks much younger than his age tbf, I would have guessed he was in his early 40s! I think she looks late 20s

I find him creepy

That’s OK, he already has a girlfriend.
