AIBU to think a younger partner could genuinely find Justin Fletcher attractive?

Justin Fletcher (AKA Mr Tumble) has been in the news recently as the media have discovered he is with his co-star who is 21 years younger than him. I say good for them both and I hope they are happy.

There are so many comments however about her only being with him because of his money. I realise for certain people this would be an attractive prospect but I don’t understand why it’s so hard to believe a younger woman would find him attractive? I’m a similar age to her and if I was single I would date him, regardless of his money. I think he seems like a genuinely lovely, talented, hard-working man who is great with children and has done a lot for kids with special needs. That would be attractive to a lot of people. If I was with him I’d be happy to live in a small house and for him to leave his money to a children’s charity if he so wished.

So AIBU and naive to think there are others out there with a similar mindset to myself? I recognise there are gold-diggers out there but in this case I think Justin has a lot going for him even without his bank balance?

What a crass and shallow comment.

Look around you. Women in their 30s are in loving relationships with partners of all shapes, sizes and physical appearance.

Attraction has many dimensions not just physical

Are you stating that most young women date men 21 years older than them?

Really? You're saying I'm wrong and the actual majority of them do this? 🤦‍♀️😂

mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/06/2026 17:38

Maybe hes super masculine and protective outside of costume 🤷‍♀️

Its how I became attracted to Shane Richie

There is nothing most women young enough to be his daughter would find sexually appealing about this man, and even less so if he stacked shelves in a supermarket.

People say it about all age gaps. I was often accused of being with my older OH for money. We were both poor as shit but I had (slightly) more than him.

I was with him as he was smart and funny and cute and completely in sync with me. We would talk for hours every day and never run out of topics, and he enhanced my life in every possible way.

Yes, my BFF met her DH when she was 30 and he 52 and she got accused of all sorts and sneered at, snubbed, patronised etc.

It's 24 years later and they are still blissfully happy and a perfect match. Ironically, she's the breadwinner and inherited money. But there are still some arseholes in our village who speak ill of her.

Because I've been on this earth for 57 years and I can state with certainty that most women young enough to be the daughter of most tubby little men, don't tend to date them, especially when they're earning minimum wage.

Look around you, you also know it's true even if you don't want to admit it.

Well, when I look around me, I see plenty of couples who seem very physically mismatched (in terms of both looks and age). None of them are rich or famous and all seem very happy.

So I'm not sure your 57 years on earth really matter much.

flagpolesitta · 01/06/2026 17:30

I can kind of get my head round it more than Carrie and boris

Saying it as a 21 year age gap without adding he’s mid 50s and she’s mid 30s and also works in children’s tv, makes it sound like it’s an inappropriate relationship or she’s a gold digger etc. sounds more like two people who’ve worked alongside each other for a long time have started dating. Both are beyond the young age where it’s possible they are being taken advantage of.

Justin Fletcher was always such a calm and nice seeming person, I’m glad he’s found someone, I do hope they are happy.

This, it’s a big age gap for sure, but at those ages not problematic, just an ages/stages thing, which is entirely their business. He seems like a lovely guy, good for them.

How do you know what other people do/don't find appealing?

You say that as if being Mr Tumble is in any way sexually appealing.

They like each other, can people just deal with it please. I think he’s great. I watched him on TV and now my kids do too. Happy he’s found someone.

Totally agree.

I don’t know what he’d have in common with someone 20 + year younger…

My best friend is 20+ years older than me. We have tons in common.

fashionqueen0123 · 01/06/2026 17:18

The only thing that’s shocked me is it’s a woman.

I thought he was gay?! I thought he was previously with the man who plays Little Cook.

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 01/06/2026 17:14

My first husband was 23 years older than me. The failure of our relationship had nothing whatsoever to do with age and everything to do with the fact his ex had cheated on him and as a result he was wildly insecure although that didnt come out until after we got married. So on the surface I don't think the age gap is that much of an issue. I was 30 and he was 53 when we married. We had been together for 5 years when we got married.

The marriage ended because his insecurities become violent and it breached my line in the sand. Nothing to do with the age gap.

It may work out, it may not. But good luck to them.

When I was 19y0 I was dating a 40yo who wasn’t famous, didn’t have money and was overweight and not overly good looking. But he had a wicked sense of humour and was great in bed. I was head over heels in love. I’ve always had a thing about older men. 🤷‍♀️. I’m not a gold digger. I can happily believe she loves Justin for who he is.

JustAnotherBoyMaman · 01/06/2026 17:09

I genuinely thought he was gay.

He seems like a lovely man, we enjoy watching him. As for the age gap, I do think it's a lot. My parents have a 10 year age gap and they have always been at different stages in life, so a 21 year age gap seems to be too big. Having said that, it's their life, as long as they are happy then good on them x

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 01/06/2026 17:08

Idk maybe he has mad game, some men who are less conventionally attractive home their craft and can spit immaculate game…

Ted27 · 01/06/2026 17:06

One of my best friends husbands is an actor who worked with Justin Fletcher in a pantomime several years ago. We went to meet him backstage before the panto, I thought he was lovely, great with the kids, very charming. My friend has always said he was one of the nicest, most genuine actors he's worked with.

Mr Tumble is a character, not the man.

They both work as actors in children’s tv. I would imagine they have more in common with each other than they would with someone who has a 9-5 office job who was in the same school year.

MySaintedAunt · 01/06/2026 16:49

Genevieva · 01/06/2026 14:12

They have a lot in common. I imagine they quickly became firm friends through working together and attraction grew from there. This is a really good basis for a successful relationship.

I read they bonded over a love of musical theatre.
He's not my type at all but he's a grafter and i admire that - i saw him being interviewed on a chat show a few years ago and was struck by how much he appreciates and enjoys the career he has, and works hard at it. He came across as pretty low key and affable. And as someone with an autistic child i appreciate how much he's done to expand mainstream children's entertainment for those with special needs. So if he's finally found his 'better half' I hope they're very happy together.

Easterchicken · 01/06/2026 16:49

I'm sure his bank account is sexy as fuck 🤣

Tablesandchairs23 · 01/06/2026 16:49

Not sure why its had so much attention. Age gap relationships aren't new. Good luck to them.

They work in the same industry.
So they have that in common 🤷

BauhausOfEliott · 01/06/2026 16:39

I don't think it's remotely unusual or suspicious for two people who work very closely together in a specialist, more or less unique business and spend a ton of time together to end up dating. They've probably got absolutely loads in common and will have got to know each other really well by working and travelling together for a long time. They're not Anna Nicole Smith and J. Howard Marshall, ffs.

Also - even if she actually was only with him for his money - which I doubt is the case - what's to say they couldn't be happy together anyway? And more to the point, what the hell has that got to do with anyone else? They're a pair of complete strangers and whatever their relationship is built on is nobody else's business.
