Brilliant, thanks for the share, well worth a read.

Lovesacake · 01/06/2026 10:58

@Imdunfer I wouldn’t expect someone at her level of the organisation to be looking at itemised credit card bills to monitor who was spending what. I would expect a robust system of checks to be in place further down the chain, clearly that failed and as leader she does have to take some accountability for that. But the idea that she knowingly participated or allowed embezzlement and was fine with that is just bananas to me. I just cannot see any evidence to suggest she knowingly took part in her husbands crimes.

They had to get auditors from Barnsley. A place not exactly known for its expertise compared to say, Edinburgh.

I believe her. A couple who both are high earners with no children and a modest house are exactly the sort of people I would expect to be able to afford a Jag or motor home - who else do you think is buying them. They must’ve had an extremely high level of disposable income and savings and as they didn’t share a bank account I believe her when she says she assumed the gifts were bought with his actual money. It’s not unusual for high earners with no kids to spend a lot on handbags/jewlery etc - you don’t need to be a millionaire to afford those things you just need high incomes and low outgoings which it seemed they had.

There’s a lot of truth in what you are saying about their disposable income but NS is denying any knowledge of the motor home. No reasonable can accept her explanation that she didn’t notice it on her in laws property.

And the SNP auditing?

I expect that poster was being sarcastic.

Do you think so? They sounded pretty serious to me, especially given the amount of venom being expressed on these threads.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 01/06/2026 10:41

NS has not gone down well in England. Why does anyone think this? She’s come across as unquestioning and clearly didn’t look at finance very deeply. This is either lack of ability or, as most of us think, she knew and is now wriggling on the end of a fishing line. She’s not admired here!

ArabellaScott · 01/06/2026 10:15

As noted by some, Sturgeon's act has gone down well in England, where the public have not been subject to the rule of a government run by her and her party.

Those of us in Scotland who have been called 'probably racist' by her for defending women's rights have a somewhat different view.

I don’t think so. She is a source of amusement.

Btw I am staggered. Not divorced? Wow

You really should be ashamed of yourself. But I doubt anyone who could make a comment like this one has enough decency to know what shame is.

Sorry, *possibly racist. But obviously bigots.

I feel torn tbh.Not Scottish ,but I feel NS has always come over as an honest warm person .However I cannot see how she can have missed the Campervan and other large purchases TBH. Maybe she was busy as first Minister who knows? She has questions to answer at the very least I would say

Ah yes, the "honest and warm" person who claimed women were akin to Nazis and racists for wanting single sex spaces maintained.

What I noticed was her bridling about being made to compensate or hand over assets regarding what her ex husband did.

Over time, what he did was an overall financial benefit to her household. The pens and the toilet rolls are headlines. But ultimately it mean that they spent (as a couple) on more assets like property. Sturgeon did get divorced of course, but I do not know if that ring fences her assets from the marriage.

The investigation cost 2 million pounds.

They are not divorced.

I think your post here says it all about the people who are revelling in seeing a woman being put on public trial when the police and Scottish Justice system found no evidence of wrong doing.

Why not bring back public lynching while you are at it?

Edited

Yes that’s a good idea. Well suggested.

I think it's also important to remember that the SNP doesn't tolerate dissent. Their MPs and MSPs are whipped to within an inch of their arses. They MUST vote in a block for whatever the SNP leadership says is the party stance. If they break ranks and rebel, they are suspended from the party. This is what happened to Fergus Ewing, who has been in the SNP for yonks.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-66941281

So you have this atmosphere that you have to keep your head down and do what you're told, or you're out on your ear. So people do just that because they know that without the "SNP" branding on a ballot paper nobody is going to vote for them. It's really not the way to run any organisation.

I was really disappointed that Fergus Ewing was unable to get in as an independent in the recent elections. I miss the sensible politicians but of course all of them were either pushed out or left the SNP once they saw what was going on.

All these threads laced with vitriol directed at Nicola are just proving the point that women in politics are subjected to a degree of hatred never directed at male politicians.

It's truly embarrassing the number of posters on a site which is supposed to be primarily for women and supportive of women are so obviously enjoying putting the boot into another woman.

No. She’s getting shit because she deserves it. Having a vagina does not exempt her from proper scrutiny. She was the leader of the party and the leader of Scotland. If you can’t stand the heat…

LaliqueSaltGrinder · 01/06/2026 09:49

And look what happened to Joanna Cherry. Ousted and shunned. She's a strong character who can take it and has a legal career to fall back on. Many other MSPs can't believe their luck getting voted into a cushy job with a good salary and just keep their heads down.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 01/06/2026 09:47

@LaliqueSaltGrinder Didn’t MS Cherry have an issue with all
the secrecy and lack of openness? She suspected poor accounting I think. NS and PM controlled everything. Swinney is being an idiot. He should ensure the party explains how this happened and what they are doing to ensure money from donors is spent appropriately. Just saying the police investigated so that’s ok, is not good enough. But he was in the thick of it too, wasn’t he!

lcakethereforeIam · 01/06/2026 09:39

Wasn't the campervan explained away as being bought for the SNP to use as a campaign vehicle?
