Sausage baps need a salad-y component

So I've been having sausage baps recently and I feel they need some sort of salad component. But I cant figure out what. Mixed leaves doesn't seem to work, nor would a coleslaw.

Current components:
Heck chicken sausages, buttered flour bap, chilli jam, mayo, pickled gherkins on the side.

In South of France recently we had sausages with beef tomatoes, red peppers, red onion and cucumber. With garlic olive oil drizzled all over.

No lettuce. Was absolutely lovely!

Not just tomatoes but beef tomatoes

A pickled side maybe but not actually in the roll/bap. M&S do a nice pickled cabbage in their summer salads.

I would just go with sliced tomato on it, or change to smoked bacon medallions and have bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo? And loads of salt and pepper, i love that on a baguette 😋

hmmm I’d try little gem lettuce - less floppy than mixed leaves but gives a nice fresh crunch. I might also add some sliced tomato.
