If you are Reform are you ok with this repulsive man potentially becoming an MP and representing women in parliament?

Robert Kenyon, the “cheeky local chappie” who is standing for Reform in Makerfield is on record as making some shockingly sexist comments and statements. Reform are standing by him.

Can I ask the women on here who are Reform voters if they are ok with the him remaining a candidate given what I cite below. Btw I am absolutely not, but I’m not and never will be a Reform voter for a variety of reasons.

  1. Retweeting a post about performing a (graphic description) of a sexual act on Carol Voderman.
  2. He has attacked women as being promiscuous and accused them of taking any decision to have an abortion lightly. He wrote, “reproductive rights, women's rights, they can dress it up all they want.
  3. They're deciding to kill a baby inside the womb. What they mean is they want to shag anyone they want. And if they get caught, they get a second chance and treat it as a secondary, last form of contraception.”

Either you think this is ok (don’t understand how anyone let alone a woman could be ok with it) or presumably you’ll be contacting Tice and Farage etc to drop him.

Interested in your thoughts.

Ew. Please make it stop. Makerfield deserves better. So does everyone

Makerfield and the rest of the UK deserves better than this shitshow. But no let’s sit back and watch Reform UK get voted in.
Ew indeed. The thought of standing in a queue to sign a ballot paper (for any party other than Reform yUK!) with Bonnie Blue and her thousands of ‘men’ signing up to Reform UK 🤢 🤮 🤢

The swastika is also found in ancient Native American tribal art namely the Navaho and Hopi peoples. It is a completely unrelated symbol of life and good health.

I thought Kenyon's local policies sounded ok - from one of the links someone posted up thread;

^His local policy priorities, if elected, include campaigning for a new hospital for Wigan, lobbying against greenbelt development, regenerating high streets in Ashton and Hindley and saving Ashton Library.

Kenyon can't be that bothered about saving greenbelt land or saving Ashton library as he has not been to a single meeting about the Winstanley Hall development (building on greenbelt, incidentally where he actually lives) or the meetings about saving Ashton Library (where he is actually the counsellor for).
His interview with the MEN was an embarrassment. He had no idea about ANY of Reforms policies and deflected every question about it with 'I will have to have a deeper look into that'. He is as thick as two short planks.

‘Have had’ is the correct phrasing. The greens have been forced to take action after information made public. Left to themselves they’d vote David challenor or equivalent in as pm. Ditto reform. They’re all totally judgey nutbags and unelectable and many of them should be in jail in my view on both sides of the spectrum. I want normal people to vote for! But these kind of posts do make
me think people in glass houses… and first remove the plank from thine own eye. I support morals, and i want nothing to do with faux purity from hypocrites who love it if it’s someone ‘on their team’ no matter how much harm they do others. Which are you op?

Interesting perspective thank you. If someone has clearly (not just allegations) done something wrong or inappropriate as with this man, I’m pretty unforgiving. If I was Refirm I’d be disgusted and would be lobbying for a different candidate. Under no circumstances would I vote for him. And that’s the same for different parties…. If I’d been a Liberal in the 70s, I can’t see how I’d have voted for Jeremy Thorpe. And if I’d known about Lloyd George’s proclivities, I think I’d have had serious reservations.

OP, you're not wrong. But what this thread and so many others show is how happy ordinary people are to torch their own rights and benefits if it means The Other will be punished a bit harder.

Actually I am interested in the thoughts of Reform voters on this subject. He is on record as having some disgusting views. Is that acceptable? If not what are you (assuming you are a Reform voter, and apologies if I’m wrong) going to do about it. The greens have had to take action with some of their candidates, and rightly so…. Why not Reform?

That tattoo resembled a swastika, or as he and his wife claimed a obsure Bhuddist symbol

I have, in my jewellery box, a beautifully made gold swastika charm, which was my great grandmother’s, and which she considered a good luck symbol. The point of the story is that she stopped thinking of it as a good luck symbol in the late 1930s.

Though there are claims he has had nothing to do with saving the library. So is it possible he is just sort of saying that rather than being interested in it? Just a wild guess.

I live in the Makerfield constituency. It’s strange at the moment, our little northern town totally in the spotlight. Barely a day goes by without someone knocking on the door asking me who we are voting for.
Anyways, Robert Kenyon is a disgusting human being.
Plenty of my friends and family agree with that however I’m sure a lot of people in Makerfield will vote reform regardless and they are disillusioned with labour and will vote for anyone who will get them out. I will be voting for Andy Burnham, but in all honesty i don’t think he will even win the seat. God help us if Kenyon takes the helm.

To be fair, I don't think it's that obscure as a Buddhist symbol;

How long ago are they claiming he had it done - 40 years ago, 50 years ago?

If large numbers of people like Kenyon win at the next election, the harm done to the country will be huge, more than we can even anticipate. Many councils are already experiencing chaos.

Edited

As if Labour councils have not experienced chaos, not to mention the current government. What guarantees do we have that there are not large numbers of people like Kenyon in the House of Commons already, especially among the Labour ranks? How did (Labour) MPs like Andrew Gwynne, Lloyd Russell-Moyle and Neil Coyle get through? There could be dozens of men like this on Labour's backbenches. Neil Coyle is still a Labour MP and I noticed that Lloyd Russell-Moyle recently joined the Green Party with a fanfare, no doubt he will be back in the Commons in 2029.

Also, I noticed a big fuss about a newly-elected councillor for Reform with a tattoo. I looked up the ward to see who had represented the area before and found a tribute to a former Labour councillor who died earlier this year. The head of the Labour group described the late, former, councillor as a 'straight-talker' - I looked him up - he was suspended in 2019 for using the N-word.

Strangely, they forgot to mention their main purpose as a food bank in About Us on their website;

Wigan Rashida Masjid aims to be a cornerstone of the Muslim community in Wigan. Our mosque serves as a place of worship, education, spiritual development, and community gathering for people from all backgrounds.

Perhaps Advertising Standards will be interested in why they put out a promotional video asking for donations for a mosque - accommodating up to 1,000 worshippers and asking for £200,000.

Even more strange that Kenyon failed to mention the food bank part.

You replied and ran with it trying to proof that Kenyon wasn't lying or implying something that was not true.

Why?

It's a food bank with a prayer room.

Kenyon is caught lying
He's saying in a post on X that the former St Mary's Church is now a Mosque.
It is not, it's a food bank with a Muslim prayer room.
