If you are Reform are you ok with this repulsive man potentially becoming an MP and representing women in parliament?

Robert Kenyon, the “cheeky local chappie” who is standing for Reform in Makerfield is on record as making some shockingly sexist comments and statements. Reform are standing by him.

Can I ask the women on here who are Reform voters if they are ok with the him remaining a candidate given what I cite below. Btw I am absolutely not, but I’m not and never will be a Reform voter for a variety of reasons.

  1. Retweeting a post about performing a (graphic description) of a sexual act on Carol Voderman.
  2. He has attacked women as being promiscuous and accused them of taking any decision to have an abortion lightly. He wrote, “reproductive rights, women's rights, they can dress it up all they want.
  3. They're deciding to kill a baby inside the womb. What they mean is they want to shag anyone they want. And if they get caught, they get a second chance and treat it as a secondary, last form of contraception.”

Either you think this is ok (don’t understand how anyone let alone a woman could be ok with it) or presumably you’ll be contacting Tice and Farage etc to drop him.

Interested in your thoughts.

I live in the Makerfield constituency, and as a woman and mother of daughters the thought of Robert Kenyon being our MP terrifies me. Imagine contacting him with concerns and issues as a woman when this is how he feels about them. The man doesn't even live in Makerfield like he states, nor was he born here, another lie. The lies from him just keep racking up now he's been rumbled about not actually ever being in the army.

And yet Reform are such an awful party for women. James Orr, anti-abortion is Farage's mate and advisor in Reform. Farage himself is against later abortion, no matter the risk to mothers. The party itself seems to be attracting funding from anti-abortion folk from the USA and the party has a few members who are anti abortion.

Let's not forget wanting to rid of Equalities Act (protects us all, esp women) and leave the ECHR (protects us all, including women). Don't forget the members of Reform & Reform MP's who have a history of violence towards women of which Reform have no issue with, and the lovely one where Nigel Farage thinks Andrew Tate is an important voice for young men.

And you are worried about transwomen and now the courts have sorted that. Nothing else?

Make it make sense please?

Farage himself is against later abortion, no matter the risk to mothers

When did Farage say 'no matter the risk to mothers'?

Bit like all Greens hate Jewish people.

Is antisemitism the only prejudice you care about? I have seen your posts on various threads and you do this a lot. Why? This one is about misogyny yet you turn it round to antisemitism. You do it every time. Why not be against all kinds of prejudice, like most decent people?

Happyjoe · 27/05/2026 18:01

No idea how anyone can be a Conservative supporter after what they did to this country.

Piggywaspushed · 27/05/2026 18:00

So, since the Tories stand no chance , you'd rather Kenyon win?

Clavinova · 27/05/2026 17:57

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 27/05/2026 17:04

Clav is cutting and pasting the same negative stories about Labour MPs over and over whenever Reform is criticised. I must say I always thought she was a Tory, not a Reform supporter.

No-one is saying Reform have a monopoly on repulsive candidates/MPs, Clav. But surely if the info becomes available before an representitive is elected, it should be acted upon?

I must say I always thought she was a Tory, not a Reform supporter.

I am. I'm bashing Labour - I don't want Andy Burnham to win.

I only found the Josh Simons article today. Similarly, I didn't know Conor McGinn's constituency was the neighbouring one to Makerfield until today.

*But surely if the info becomes available before an representative is elected, it should be acted upon?

And yet Labour still chose Josh Simons as their candidate in 2024 (the outgoing Labour MP for Makerfield now).

EarthlyNightshade · 27/05/2026 16:08

What have you read about him that encourages you that he will support women?

Most of what I have seen is the opposite.

I didn’t say anything about support.
I said he knows what a woman is -which is more than Andy Burnham or whoever represents the Greens.
Or the Lib Dem’s.
By knowing what a woman is -one would assume - that he supports women’s sex based spaces/jails/hospital wards/sports/refuges would be for women only which frankly is a huge win compared to the other parties.
I could never and will never vote for a candidate or party who supports men accessing women’s spaces or services. Ever.

I did Google, but I looked at the Green Party candidate for Makerfield as that is what the OP is about, rather than searching for every Green candidate ever to stand for election. I saw that the original candidate for the Green Party stood down after some offensive conspiracy theory remarks he had made about the Jewish ambulance attacks and has been rightfully replaced. Hopefully the Reform candidate will also agree he should be replaced.

The important difference is that the Greens stood their candidate down after his vile anti semiticism. Farage has backed Kenyon dismissing his remarks as banter.
You get rogue candidates across the board, and I'm fair minded enough not to tar their entire party with the same brush. Unfortunately when the party leader fails to consider it an issue, and reaffirms support despite it, it tells you the problem isn't just one man, but the whole culture of the party.

BerryTwister · 27/05/2026 17:43

OP if you're genuinely interested in the perspectives of others (and not just wanting to have a go a Reform voters on MN because you don't have access to the actual Reform MPs) - this is my view.

I've never voted Reform and I doubt I ever will. But this is ALL about immigration.

Services are stretched to the limit in this country, schools and the NHS are overwhelmed, police don't come out to burglaries etc etc - you know the issues. Meanwhile, we hear daily about the cost of processing asylum seekers, housing them, providing immigrants with life's necessities while taking years to decide if they're allowed to stay here. Court/prison costs of punishing immigrant criminals, as if we didn't have enough home grown ones.

Rightly or wrongly people associate their own lack of money/services with immigrants and asylum seekers, and they don't like it. And the only party who seem to take this issue seriously is Reform.

Most Reform voters don't actually know any of their other policies. But even if they knew and disliked them, they're prepared to make the sacrifice, to reduce immigration.

Successive governments have ignored this massive issue. It was the undoing of the Tories, and it'll be the undoing of Labour too.

Digging the dirt isnt going to work. I dont even live in Makerfield and haven't even heard of it till now. So I'm not bothered about what he's done or hasn't done before he's even elected. But the likes of Angela Rayner dodging tax now that does bother me.

She didn't dodge tax. She referred herself to get a definitive answer as she was getting different pieces of advice.
It is a very complex situation as she was trying to put her former house in trust for her disabled son so he would always have a secure place to live. (He was born very prematurely and is blind.) I believe she and her former partner take turns living there to care for him.

Who are you voting for OP, I'm guessing you live in Makerfield

I don’t live there so no skin in the game. But I really don’t think a sexist misogynist has a place anywhere near parliament.

Yes. This. FWIW I wouldn’t vote for either party either. I like conviction politicians, Gordon Brown, Tony Benn, Margaret Thatcher, Rishi Sunak etc.. putting political views aside at least you knew what they stood for.

I would never vote for reform or green or the current Labour Party. NF is an absolute lunatic with no idea about how to pull GB’s economy out if the gutters. KS is so indecisive he’s driven his whole cabinet to resort to a leadership challenge. AB is in it for AB. Don’t get me started on Zak Polanski, tax issues, cv lying, v dodgy views on defence and the economy. The choice is truly truly terrible.
Kemi Badenoch is the best of the bunch right now but the tories screwed themselves with Brexit and no plan for being ex EU. She’s the least worst option rn if there was an election.

No mention of LibDems?

If he keeps Andy Burnham out and not the next labour leader then I’m guessing most people who can Vote or are reform voters find it more than acceptable

but to be fair you aren’t going to find a politician who hasn’t got something hidden in the past

Interesting perspective. I don’t have particularly strong feelings about Burnham. Clearly he’s liked (in Labour circles) more than Starmer. But as a person I can’t think of anything he’s said that is offensive (although granted you may not like his politics).

Getting rid of Labour after 2 years does seem a bit like the football teams who change managers like socks…. Any party can promise the moon, but if Reform get in, it will be interesting to see how they deliver. And whether divisions in the country continue to deepen.

That’s why it’s really important that people are fully informed about Kenyon so he can’t beguile them with his salt of the earth, honest plumber schtik.

Unfortunately some are defending him as it’s only banter - he has a lot of support

Actually I am interested in the thoughts of Reform voters on this subject. He is on record as having some disgusting views. Is that acceptable? If not what are you (assuming you are a Reform voter, and apologies if I’m wrong) going to do about it. The greens have had to take action with some of their candidates, and rightly so…. Why not Reform?

If he keeps Andy Burnham out and not the next labour leader then I’m guessing most people who can Vote or are reform voters find it more than acceptable

The outgoing Labour MP for Makerfield isn't great is he;

2024
SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn hit out after Josh Simons was chosen as the Labour candidate for Makerfield in north-west England.

Mr Simons, director of the Labour Together group, previously suggested smuggler gangs should be put on a barge, which could then be shipped to the north of Scotland.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/snp-condemns-labour-candidate-suggested-102127645.html

As for the neighbouring constituency to Makerfield - I see that the former Labour MP for St Helens North was charged with sexual assault earlier this year;

How was Rishi Sunak a conviction politician, especially in comparison to the others you mentioned? I’m still not sure what he stood for.

restoring financial security and controlling national debt, essential for economic stability. Leading to low inflation and lower taxes and therefore encouraging businesses to flourish here rather than elsewhere. Good economic governance. But he never really got going tbh,
