To feel weird about being second woman on sex chair

I don’t think I am BU but interested in whether other people would just get over it.

Been with my boyfriend for two years, we don’t live together yet and he has just got some furniture out of storage after moving house. One item that he has recently mentioned is a curvy foam chair/sofa thing made for sex. I will add a photo of similar. Although he originally bought it new I think it’s fairly likely he has had sex with his ex on it.

I am not usually jealous at all but I feel really weird about this - I guess because it’s specially made for sex? And because it’s foam I feel like if it wasn’t covered it has probably absorbed some juices 🙈. Although surely any bacteria will be dead after two years. I just don’t want to be lying on this thing knowing his ex was in the same positions, thinking maybe she was face down in the same spot and we would be basically cheek to cheek!

These feelings are all new to me as I don’t usually think about exes and I’ve never been confronted with sex furniture/toys/accessories that weren’t my own or bought new. AIBU to feel weird about this? Would you just put a waterproof sheet down and try to get over it, or refuse to use it because you don’t want to feel uncomfortable during sex?

Frankly a man talking about/buying a ''sex chair'' would be an instant turn off for me in the first place.

Me too. Yuck.

FunMustard · 24/05/2026 11:57

I would feel weird about this too. That's why we don't label the sofa as a sex chair Wink

SparklyGlitterballs · 24/05/2026 11:56

I just want to know if others would feel the same or if they wouldn’t care because my boyfriend wants to bring it to my house.

Why does he want it at your house? Tell him to either get rid or keep his tacky sex toy at his own house.

I agree with others, it's probably because it's only for sex. A bed is different because its primary use is for sleeping. I think I'd also be put off by his expectation that you'll use it with him. Did he even discuss it with you before bringing it out of storage?

That’ll be interesting given that RightMove is for selling your home 🤣

Yes, PP knows. They mean they will be looking out to see if they can spot other people who have them in their houses, in the photos.

OonaStubbs · 24/05/2026 11:53

I suppose Love Seats are just sex chairs and they are mainstream and acceptable.
They sell them in Argos.

LateDecember · 24/05/2026 11:51

This is why I hate the internet

fancypantss · 24/05/2026 11:49

I can't imagine being in a relationship with someone who owned a sex chair. Fucking hell.

ByRealOtter · 24/05/2026 11:49

New chair - maybe
Second hand - absolutely not!

Oohanothername · 24/05/2026 11:47

It's not the sort of thing you recycle, surely... If you want to use one, fine, but it'd have to be new.... 🤢

MaCheCazzo · 24/05/2026 11:46

In situations like this I always ask myself - 'What would Jesus do?'

TheBloomingDahlia · 24/05/2026 11:17

But is that because it has been used with someone else, or just because it’s a sex chair full stop?

I mean, both, to be honest. But I wouldn’t be the second user of a sex chair if, for some reason, I was going to use one.

OonaStubbs · 24/05/2026 11:42

My gran had one of these, I only realised after she died that it was a sex chair.

So unlike the home life of our own dear Queen.

Edward VII famously had a sex chair.

If its good enough for royalty then I’d be down for it 🤣

InterIgnis · 24/05/2026 11:35

catsmother · 24/05/2026 11:07

And then you have the original royal sex chair, a bespoke creation made for Edward VII which provides hours and hours of fun .... just from trying to work out who and/or what goes where!

IIRC that was built to accommodate three.

for helpful (stick figure) examples of how it could be used:

TrufflePigs · 24/05/2026 11:35

It would give me the ick

katepilar · 24/05/2026 11:34

You are absolutely NBU for not wanting to use it.

Bristolandlazy · 24/05/2026 11:33

Surely you could find a more suitable group to chat about your niche interests OP than this one. It's tedious.

BlakeCarrington · 24/05/2026 11:33

FoulBlister · 24/05/2026 10:10

You wouldn't even need to put your knitting down.

😂 yes it’s really rather practical in that regard

Well Quite!

TheBloomingDahlia · 24/05/2026 09:44

No the bacteria was an afterthought really, it’s more the thought of sex juices on/in the chair. I’m sure there are loads of juices in mattresses so I’m trying to make sense of why I feel strange about the chair, but wouldn’t care about a bed

Because beds are where you sleep, and other stuff is...other stuff.....! But a sex chair is for SEX! Urgh. I would need this to be binned off, for sure!

ThreadGuardDog · 24/05/2026 11:32

NoisyBuilder · 24/05/2026 09:41

I am SOOOOO vanilla 😂

I shall be looking out for sex chairs on Right Move going forward.

That’ll be interesting given that RightMove is for selling your home 🤣

GrimGusset · 24/05/2026 11:31

Throw a sheet or towel over it and give it a go. Find out if it’s comfortable. Find out if it allows different positions more easily. If you like it then he can get an upholstery vacuum cleaner shampoo-er thingy and give it a good clean. If you don’t like it then ask him to put it back into storage or sell it.

Personally I’d love to try one of these chairs. I have dodgy hips and knees and DH isn’t exactly very flexible so it would probably allow us to be in positions that just aren’t possible.

Not sure how I’d feel about the chair being used previously. Isn’t that part of what comes with being with someone who has had sex with others before you? His body has been inside other women. Not sure if a chair is such a big deal compared to that.

Mylovelygreendress · 24/05/2026 10:25

I know I am old but I had never heard of a sex chair until the last few days !

Same!! I have clearly led too sheltered a life.

NortieTortie · 24/05/2026 11:29

Yeah, no, I couldn't.

It does look way more comfy than using a few pillows for support tho
