To feel weird about being second woman on sex chair

I don’t think I am BU but interested in whether other people would just get over it.

Been with my boyfriend for two years, we don’t live together yet and he has just got some furniture out of storage after moving house. One item that he has recently mentioned is a curvy foam chair/sofa thing made for sex. I will add a photo of similar. Although he originally bought it new I think it’s fairly likely he has had sex with his ex on it.

I am not usually jealous at all but I feel really weird about this - I guess because it’s specially made for sex? And because it’s foam I feel like if it wasn’t covered it has probably absorbed some juices 🙈. Although surely any bacteria will be dead after two years. I just don’t want to be lying on this thing knowing his ex was in the same positions, thinking maybe she was face down in the same spot and we would be basically cheek to cheek!

These feelings are all new to me as I don’t usually think about exes and I’ve never been confronted with sex furniture/toys/accessories that weren’t my own or bought new. AIBU to feel weird about this? Would you just put a waterproof sheet down and try to get over it, or refuse to use it because you don’t want to feel uncomfortable during sex?

I saw it at Windsor Castle.

That's a commode, not a sex chair.

And next week on Random Opinions I Could Just Keep to Myself , it's Tracy from Kidderminster

A lot of people agree with her. She's allowed to express an opinion on the topic

CaramacBar · 24/05/2026 12:21

I agree OP. I wouldn't want be the second sex chair woman. A bed or sofa isn't the same. Nothing to do with hygiene. It would just give me the ick

You’re making some assumptions @TheBloomingDahlia , perhaps he likes bending over on it and getting pegged?

And 'The juices' that would generate would be a whole different ball game 🤢

Looks quite comfy for watching tv

I was just thinking it would help my haemorrhoids.

smallgreenandsplitthreeways · 24/05/2026 12:19

Now that’s one item I wouldn’t buy second hand.

Frankly a man talking about/buying a ''sex chair'' would be an instant turn off for me in the first place.

Why?

So glad I’m not the only one. I would be instantly turned off the relationship. I’ve had sex on the sofa many times but that’s different to having someone buy a dedicated chair 🤢 just a huge turn off for me.

I am SOOOOO vanilla 😂

I shall be looking out for sex chairs on Right Move going forward.

Me too- this week on MN I’ve found out about queening chairs, punting websites and fleshlights. Where have I been?!

Me too. Until the previous recent thread that mentioned one, I didn’t even know they were a thing. I’m so vanilla though that I’d have been put off the relationship altogether 😂

I would tell him that you won't be bending over on his and his exes special sex chair thankyou very much, and maybe he could put it up on marketplace?

Put it on marketplace 😱
Really? Who are the people buying second-hand sex equipment on Facebook? I really need this not to be a thing

Krevlornswath · 24/05/2026 12:06

Is it not grubby from being in storage regardless of previous hygiene issues? Honestly the ick that he owns it and has kept it in storage would be insurmountable for me.

He'd be whipping this out whoever he was with OP, because it's something he obviously finds exciting and imagines improves the potential of his prowess, to the extent he has taken pains to store it for future potential partners.

Unless there is a medical or physical reason why this is necessary - eg a person genuinely could benefit from physical support to their body so they can enjoy sex the way they want to, then what is to be gained? It smacks of the old Cosmo sex tip type of advice that have led men to imagine a pillow under the hips is going to blow minds all of a sudden, when actually it's all about improving the view and variety of positions for the bloke. I couldn't be aroused perched on top of that, watching any man wheel this out would just make me think he was clueless.

I would tell him upfront that I wouldn't be interested in using it and if we lived together wouldn't want it in the house taking up (mortifying) space. See what he does then. I wonder if he'll keep it anyway to try and persuade you or save it for the next partner..

MrsBatshitRatshit · 24/05/2026 12:04

What a hideous object. I would not have it in my house, irrespective of its purpose.

I suppose Love Seats are just sex chairs and they are mainstream and acceptable.
They sell them in Argos.

that's weird, I know this as a loveseat and you'd need need to be flexible and blooming creative.....https://www.sellingantiques.co.uk/629916/a-mahogany-inlaid-edwardian-period-antique-love-seat

PS that thing is ick making and doubly so if its been used already.

A Mahogany Inlaid Edwardian Period Antique Love Seat.

Antique sofas such as this are historical limited editions (date of manufacture is Edwardian). Cherished back then - rare find today. Priced at £1,250. For sale by Christian Davies Antiques Ltd.

OneDreamyGreenMentor · 24/05/2026 12:03

It costs £600?! Bloody hell!

YABU Op, the cover is machine washable, pop it on a wash with some anti bacterial detergent and then either use it for its intended purpose or just as furniture.

InterestedDad37 · 24/05/2026 12:03

I'm a very open-minded person, but you'd have to be a real saddo to buy a sex chair in the first place, keep it in storage when the relationship (ahem) 'goes tits up', and then proudly show it to your next gf, hoping she doesn't mind being the second person to be expected to use it.

Looks like it could be comfortable for watching the telly though - does anyone else sell them with a specified 'TV chair" purpose?

Mydogsmellsofwee · 24/05/2026 12:02

Edward VII’s sex chair.

Not as padded though.

Owly11 · 24/05/2026 11:59

People who need a special chair for sex either lack imagination, fitness or are easily conned by marketing. I would let him keep the chair and get a new bf.

Mydogsmellsofwee · 24/05/2026 11:59

That’s not the sort of chair I was expecting.

Who was the fat king who had a sex chair? I was expecting to see something like that.

Disappointing.

(I would get the ick over a sex chair of any sort.)
