To feel weird about being second woman on sex chair

I don’t think I am BU but interested in whether other people would just get over it.

Been with my boyfriend for two years, we don’t live together yet and he has just got some furniture out of storage after moving house. One item that he has recently mentioned is a curvy foam chair/sofa thing made for sex. I will add a photo of similar. Although he originally bought it new I think it’s fairly likely he has had sex with his ex on it.

I am not usually jealous at all but I feel really weird about this - I guess because it’s specially made for sex? And because it’s foam I feel like if it wasn’t covered it has probably absorbed some juices 🙈. Although surely any bacteria will be dead after two years. I just don’t want to be lying on this thing knowing his ex was in the same positions, thinking maybe she was face down in the same spot and we would be basically cheek to cheek!

These feelings are all new to me as I don’t usually think about exes and I’ve never been confronted with sex furniture/toys/accessories that weren’t my own or bought new. AIBU to feel weird about this? Would you just put a waterproof sheet down and try to get over it, or refuse to use it because you don’t want to feel uncomfortable during sex?

So glad I’m not the only one. I would be instantly turned off the relationship. I’ve had sex on the sofa many times but that’s different to having someone buy a dedicated chair 🤢 just a huge turn off for me.

Same

CaramacBar · 24/05/2026 13:10

For me it's the thought of someone saying (or implying) that "This is my sex chair that I put women over to shag" that would be a turn off.

😂

I think it is Amazon delivery responsible for these developments.

No way would my grandparents have loaded and unloaded a purchase of that doggy-style sofa into and out of their car after a visit to John Lewis.

I shall be looking out for sex chairs on Right Move going forward.

Id be mortified having the removal blokes in and seeing that!

  1. Slightly disappointed this isn’t about an actual sex swing type chair
  2. Buy a black light
  3. If it’s absorbable material (ie not vinyl/leather) and you can’t just get the antibac out and you’ve checked it with the black light and it makes you want to vomit then refuse to have it in the house and throw away/ don’t sit on it/don’t have sex on it* delete as applicable
  4. Dont have sex on it, just so that it’s got its own, reinforced point. Especially if it’s his own home where you don’t live and have no say on it remaining.
  5. Sorry, I like bullet points but it wasn’t all meant to be but seems mn does it auto and I quite like it 😄
  6. Oh, and if it’s the same colour as the one in the pic then it’s not very nice anyway so just say it doesn’t suit the decor.
  7. ETA, as I’ve now seen it is your house and not his (I wasn’t sure in that before) then I’d just concentrate on points 3 and 6 and chuck it!

TheBloomingDahlia · 24/05/2026 09:44

No the bacteria was an afterthought really, it’s more the thought of sex juices on/in the chair. I’m sure there are loads of juices in mattresses so I’m trying to make sense of why I feel strange about the chair, but wouldn’t care about a bed

The bed has sheets on it.

The sex chair is frankly ick. That one looks all velvety which is going to get covered in bodily fluids. Does it not have a peel off cover for washing? Because it should ...

LyndaSnellsSniff · 24/05/2026 12:55

Please stop saying "juices"!! 🤢😆

TFImBackIn · 24/05/2026 10:06

Yes, you know you're in for a really good time when he brings out the sex chair and the waterproof sheet. It's everything a woman could dream of.

Ha ha the whole thing would put me off! Buying a sex chair, ick!!

Soontobesingles · 24/05/2026 12:54

Ecstaticmotion · 24/05/2026 12:15

Why?

I think for those of us at the more vanilla end of the spectrum, the existence of a sex chair is an indication that sex, and sexual adventure and sexual experimentation, is going to play a much more significant role in the relationship than we would want. I like sex, I think sex is very important in my marriage, I have sex reasonably often (a couple times a week), but it isn't like a shared hobby where we plan and buy equipment and push boundaries. I don't want to feel like I have to perform sex and the thought of having sex in a dedicated chair that looks as if it's made for doggy style would make me feel quite degraded. We (my DH and I) don't really have kinks (I mean, maybe he has, but they aren't part of our sex life). If someone wanted the kind of relationship in which their partner was aroused by the thought of bending over a sex chair then they want a different partner to me. And that's ok!

Badbadbunny · 24/05/2026 12:54

JLou08 · 24/05/2026 09:35

Did he buy a new bed when you met? Or as he had his ex in the same position he has you on it? Ever done it on the couch or dining table? I think you're being silly, after at least 2 years I'm sure none of her 'juices' are on it.

I agree, same with car seats, bean bags, etc. Lots of places where sex "may" have occurred with "spillages". Do people expect their new boyfriends to swap their cars when they meet, what about a second hand car that previous owners may have enjoyed some "fun" time in? One of my boyfriends had a huge bean bag (cloth covered) that we used for a bit of "fun" often and it never crossed my mind who had used it before me, likewise boyfriend's sofas, cars, etc.

Those stick figures help but you still need a lot of imagination 😂. I bet the focus was still on him having a good time and less on the lady pleasure.

Purple stick figure gets all the fun without much work.

Mimosaandonwards · 24/05/2026 12:48

AstonUniversityPotholeDepartment · 24/05/2026 12:31

That's a commode, not a sex chair.

Definitely best not to get these two mixed up. That's much more of a niche fetish. 😂

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 24/05/2026 12:48

Bloody amazon keeps recommending this type of thing to me-which shows how wrong the algorithm can get things. A bloke wheeled that out and my vag would clamp up forever.

Wingingit73 · 24/05/2026 12:48

Its a bit ugly. See if they have new sex chairs in ikea. Seriously. Dont worry about it.

JayJayj · 24/05/2026 12:46

I think the issue is that it’s purely an item for sex. You wouldn’t, (plural you) use a sex toy he has used by a previous partner.

I would assume that it’s designed to not soak in further that the covers, and they would be removable for easy cleaning. Wouldn’t really make sense otherwise!!

I recently saw one that folded into a rectangle, with another cover to put around it so it looked like an ottoman. I thought it was a cool idea. 30 year old me would have loved the idea of using it for the positions. 40 year old me has fibromyalgia, so I see a way to help with pain to make it easier. Not as sexy but very helpful.

BillieWiper · 24/05/2026 12:45

I certainly wouldn't try and have sex on top of a waterproof sheet?! That would be bizarre.

As PP says, he's probably fucked someone on every surface in his house.

Mydogsmellsofwee · 24/05/2026 12:02

Edward VII’s sex chair.

Not as padded though.

Really?? 🫣

Nos4r2 · 24/05/2026 12:42

What else did he have in storage?
I didn't know there was furniture especially made for sex but then I dont have pampas grass outside my house.
Im so innocent!.

JumpLeadsForTwo · 24/05/2026 12:39

InterIgnis · 24/05/2026 11:35

IIRC that was built to accommodate three.

TheBloomingDahlia · 24/05/2026 11:17

But is that because it has been used with someone else, or just because it’s a sex chair full stop?

I voted YANBU because I would feel weird about it being used before with someone else as well. I think we all protect ourselves by not thinking too graphically about a current partner’s sexual
history, and this brings it very much to life. I wouldn’t mind about the item itself, just the use with a previous partner

Gowlett · 24/05/2026 12:37

It’s huge! Where does it go when the in-laws visit? These are my only sex chair thoughts…

Livpool · 24/05/2026 12:33

The only thing that would bother me is to why he wants to keep it at your house - why? I have a dodgy knee so might be good for me!

Crying with laughter.

Me too and as I currently have a bad back from excess gardening the laughing hurts. However maybe this chair could be just the thing for my back 😂.
