To feel weird about being second woman on sex chair

I don’t think I am BU but interested in whether other people would just get over it.

Been with my boyfriend for two years, we don’t live together yet and he has just got some furniture out of storage after moving house. One item that he has recently mentioned is a curvy foam chair/sofa thing made for sex. I will add a photo of similar. Although he originally bought it new I think it’s fairly likely he has had sex with his ex on it.

I am not usually jealous at all but I feel really weird about this - I guess because it’s specially made for sex? And because it’s foam I feel like if it wasn’t covered it has probably absorbed some juices 🙈. Although surely any bacteria will be dead after two years. I just don’t want to be lying on this thing knowing his ex was in the same positions, thinking maybe she was face down in the same spot and we would be basically cheek to cheek!

These feelings are all new to me as I don’t usually think about exes and I’ve never been confronted with sex furniture/toys/accessories that weren’t my own or bought new. AIBU to feel weird about this? Would you just put a waterproof sheet down and try to get over it, or refuse to use it because you don’t want to feel uncomfortable during sex?

Just putting it out there.

Best laugh on Mumsnet in weeks. Obviously I'm old but it could save my knees. I'll ask the DH.

BumpyaDaisyevna · 24/05/2026 10:56

is the chair for him perchance?

You can get big waterproof throws that are fleece on one side and velvet on the other side so they’re not plasticky or slippy and you can shove in the washing machine. They are technically/originally for dogs. I regretted mentioning a waterproof sheet when I saw someone link to a tarpaulin upthread!

Originally for dogs !!!

Is it for the elderly? It’s even got a little knee pad like a foot stool for him. 😂

Crying with laughter.

Buy our fabulous spongy chair, re-use for each girlfriend and absorb up to one litre of sweat, cum and general sex liquids each time ✨💦🥳

Wrap up some crunchy undies as a gift and say since he got you a gift with dry juices of his ex you decided to repay the favour and offer something similar....

He might understand then...

Did he buy a new bed when you met? Or as he had his ex in the same position he has you on it? Ever done it on the couch or dining table? I think you're being silly, after at least 2 years I'm sure none of her 'juices' are on it.

Well you change sheets on a bed. Mattress protecter and all that. Not quite the same.

The idea of a sex chair seems tacky to me anyway. I’m getting Medallion Man vibes 🤣

I don’t know why youre worried about a sex chair considering his penis will have been goodness knows where with previous partners.

Edited

True, if he’s not washed it in years I definitely have bigger problems!

Frankly a man talking about/buying a ''sex chair'' would be an instant turn off for me in the first place.

Absolutely. Surely a sex chair is the least sexy thing ever ? Even without the shagging the ex on it.
And they say romance is dead..

To address the actual question tho - i'm with you OP. If it had a nice removable washable cover i'd be happier with it.

It was clearly designed by a man. I don’t think a nice removable washable cover was on the must have list. Bet it has Bluetooth and speakers though😀

I think the weirdness might be because it is specifically for sex, so it gives a feeling if you just having been swapped out with his ex like a removable part for an appliance - whereas everyone has a bed and a sofa and they aren’t sex-specific.

Yes I think this is how it feels, even though it’s been 2 years. It seems like the chair thing is for specific positions so knowing someone else has been in the exact position in the same place is weird. Whereas on a bed there is no indication of what anyone has done and where. I think if I tell him how I feel he would be very reassuring, but it would probably be me thinking about his ex rather than him.

It’s not the same one as in the photo but I’m now assuming it hopefully has removable covers. So I think I will ask him to wash the cover if he hasn’t already and then see if I feel any different.

Well I've never seen a sex chair! What's wrong with being bent over a normal sofa then having a bad back after 😂
Personally I wouldn't want to use a sex chair my partner had used with his ex. Maybe not logical but no way.

I’d like to think her sex chair was a sex throne, at least.

I saw it at Windsor Castle.

Thinking more, why I have no idea, does this mean you could end up pregnant with her babies?

I've been thinking far too much about the waterproof sheet/waterproof cover problem:

Wouldn't a sheet just...slide off? They're sort of like rain jacket material, aren't they? Or can you get fitted ones specifically for sex chairs?

Wouldn't you (or the person on the sex chair) just...slide off? Or would it have special clammy properties that would sort of keep you glued in place? But then there'd be a different kind of squelch as you remove yourself I suppose.

I bet that even if there was a special fitted sheet it would pop off one corner mid-gyration anyway.

Sunday mornings used to be about church when I was growing up. How times change.

My friend always said that the main purpose of Sunday school was getting all the children out of the house so that parents could have a quickie. Or have a cup of tea in peace.

Anyway, I think that chair, with the addition of some appropriate straps, might be handy for reformer pilates.

viques · 24/05/2026 10:35

It says it flips. Hmm. Personally I would like to see all the possible ways it can be arranged before I fork out on one.

fork out you grubby minded people.
