Do you worry about child at school

Just want to know if I’m a weirdo really.
I’ve got 2 teen girls in senior school
and 8 year old boy in primary.
mum at home with 1 year old.

I worry about them all day everyday and only feel settled when they are back home 😔 it affects me so much. (They are all happy to go in the mornings & doing well)

does anyone else’s mind never shut off? X

I worry about one of mine who has a hard time in school due to SEN but only on days when he has a bad start. If he goes into school happy I don’t think about it too much.

DD has left school now but no, I didn't worry or even think about her loads when she was out at school, unless there was a particular problem or concern to worry about eg difficult exam, she was feeling ill etc.

I used to because my child was getting beaten up daily by a child in her class and the school claimed they could do nothing about it. They used to text me daily about how they wanted to die.

I moved them to private school and bullying is non existent there. They have been just so happy. Truly thriving. The peace of mind is worth every penny.

I don't sit worrying about them all day but I do have occasional fleeting thoughts like "I hope they've had someone to sit with at lunch" or "I hope they haven't been upset or missing me" but I don't dwell on it much.

Normal imo, especially if you had a shit time at school x

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 21/05/2026 11:57

I did last year, as my son had a terrible year due to another child in his class (they’re in separate classes this year a no issues).

I wouldn’t say I worry, but I do think about him (and my youngest) and just hope they’re having a nice day.

sunshineandrain82 · 21/05/2026 11:57

I worry about my 12 year old. But that’s because she took an overdose in middle of a lesson in front of staff who did nothing after a bully told her to do it.

this was after I repeatedly reported bullying, called the police as the child bullying is 16.

my others not so much. They seem to be doing ok in school.

Anononony · 21/05/2026 11:55

Can't say I give it a second thought tbh, both are happy going in and their schools have called before for what I would consider minor things so I have no concerns they're not well looked after.

But I'm not a big worrier generally

Statsquestion1 · 21/05/2026 11:55

No I don’t worry. I’m at work all day so I’m preoccupied I suppose. Are you getting help for your anxiety? @flowergirlxxx

flowergirlxxx · 21/05/2026 11:54

I do yes. Trying my hardest to get a grip on it x

I don't worry, no.

You're not weird, I'm guessing you have an anxiety disorder.

flowergirlxxx · 21/05/2026 11:51

I’m at home with 1 year old
