Men... are u okay? What is the problem?

I think this will be removed / deleted but i am not saying anything untrue. Or factually incorrect. But here goes...

Since having my little girl just over a year ago I have started resenting men. I dont know why as my partner isnt bad. I just see them in a whole new light.

Firstly, years ago women couldn't vote and it was the done thing that they would look after the children and home and men were the providers. But, many women (not all!) Now have careers, go to work, earn their own money. We can now vote. Aswell as have a career, many women still take on majority of the housework and childcare. Not because men always refuse but they just dont, we do things automatically. Men, just dont think.

The other day I was driving to visit family and saw a car with its hazards on in the slip road... they have broken down i thought. Nope. A man was standing behind his car pissing. It got me thinking, ive never seen a woman pissing at the side of the road. We just wouldn't, so how do men find themselves in this situation? My dog can hold its bladder until "walkies" so what's the issue?

I read that men commit like 91% of murders, most rapes are men and men mostly abuse their partners. Men are more likely to commit suicide, men dont open up and speak about their feelings.. some men transition to become "women" and fight to enter women spaces. I know women transition to men but you dont hear about them!

I just dont understand. Men.. what is the actual problem??? Apart from sperm, what is your actual purpose??

The posts on here today.. oh my man was messaging a coworker inappropriately and he cant get her moved as it'll be suspicious... WHAT!! Nah he has played his part, otherwise it would be as simple as, hey HR this person is being inappropriate and its making me uncomfortable, here are the messages 🤣🤣

Or the other one, my man spent lots of money on my credit card and refusing to pay up... WHAT🤣🤣

What the fuck, we all play our part to with enabling such shit behaviour.

I think your OP is very extreme and I know a lot of men who are wonderful, compassionate, clever people who contribute positively to society in myriad ways so I disagree with much of what you've said.

Ben, I also do think a disproportionate percentage of men (by comparison with women) behave atrociously. I see them daily in the street, pissing outside when it is totally unnecessary (i.e. not an emergency), ignoring traffic rules in cars, on bikes, as pedestrians, behaving aggressively, dropping litter, spitting, watching stuff on their phones with the volume on full and no headphones (agreed, this is girls/women also but I see it much more commonly in men than women). And that without even going into official criminal statistics mentioned by you and many others, which cannot be ignored. Not to mention the war-mongering attitudes that are predominantly pushed by male politicians.

It's telling that if I knew there were only women on the streets, I wouldn't be concerned about my teen DC getting home safely at night.

The man bashing on this site is getting worse. If men did this on petrolheads you’d all be frothing

Men do say horrible things about women on Pistonheads.

Passingthrough123 · 20/05/2026 15:12

At the risk of provoking an eye roll, it's not all men.

Also, MN is largely a forum for women to vent about what's pissing them off/platform for amateur agony aunts. So of course you're going to get a disproportionate amount of threads written by women criticising men and women agreeing with them– meaning it looks like most men are shits. It's a skewed cross-section of society though.

it must be the case...like all internet forums....there is specific audience drawn in, no matter what they say

BatchCookBabe · 20/05/2026 17:11

Ahhhhhh, you're gonna love it on Mumsnet. 😆

Welcome @LavenderSkiesxo

And yes, sadly and unfortunately, much of your observations and musings are right, about most men. The Not My Nigels don't take long to appear on this kind of thread of course. Wink

Unfortunately, it doesn't get any better. Tale as old as time. Women get the shitty end of the stick, always have, always will. Throughout their entire life. And much of the shit that women have to endure is caused by MEN.

As long as women have the babies, women will always be the ones who get the shitty end of the stick and have all the childcare pushed onto them, along with most of the domestic chores/grunt work/wifework.

And yes, many women DO put up with a lot of shit from men. Some men are fine before women marry them and have babies with them, otherwise most women wouldn't bloody marry them! Some women know what they're like but put up with it because (for some women) having a man who is a bit shit much of the time is better than being alone. Also, babies. Many women want them, and unforunately, they need a man to help them get one. Many men want babies/children too, but don't want to lift a finger to help with the childcare, or with the housework, domestic duties, or childcare. It's left to the women the vast majority of the time.

Not my Nigels are gonna Not my Nigel though. Grin There are more men that are useless than there are men that aren't useless not though.

Someone from the NAMALT brigade and the Not My Nigels will be along soon to say my post is nonsense.

It's not, it's really not.....

.

Also the majority of men are engineers

Do you mean the majority of engineers are men?

Yes, I did. Need to proof read before posting 🙈. I thought be obvious what I meant though

True... but maybe have a look at when women were finally 'allowed' to have their own bank accounts... 1975 FFS!
These things didnt happen by accident- these are hard won rights that we shouldn't even have had to fight for.
It saddens me that those rights are taken for granted.

I had a current account before 1975. Maybe I didn't have a legal right to one but I had one.

When out walking my dog, sometimes late at night. I have.crossed the road if a man is approaching me. I havent with a woman because I dont see woman out late. I remember being a young teen and an older man came over and told me I was pretty. I was terrified and made up a lie that my dad was meeting me. I have held my keys in my hand before late at night to fight off a man.. not a woman a man!

You're scared of men, because enough men are associated with scary things to make that a sensible action to take.

You realise that not all the men in the world are scary, but it's better safe than sorry.

I don't think anyone can blame you for resenting that situation. Back in 2012 we called it "Rape Culture" and we fought against victim-blaming, slut-shaming, and to ensure society as a whole put the blame back on rapists/criminals, including improving how things are reported to the police and how we educate men and boys about consent, autonomy, and bodily rights. It's where "SlutWalks" come from.

It doesn't mean that your fears are all true and we'd be better off somehow eradicating men as a concept/type of human.

I love this thread, it has everything on the first 2 pages

  • a person who takes their shoes off to take a piss
  • multiple people who have a nice dad
  • history lessons about the right to vote
  • false equivalences galore
  • 'dangerous jobs' like lion tamer presumably
  • someone who's daughter would be sad if anyone was ever mean about her brother
-etc etc

Keep up the good work OP

Did make me chuckle 🤣🤣🤣

For the people saying it's not all men
If you had a box of chocolates all looking the same
But one of them was dog poo inside the chocolate shell
Would you risk eating any ?
Or would you say no thanks to them all.
Honestly it would massively put me of choosing any of them .
To high a risk as you don't know which is dog poo

That analogy only works if there are no shits in the female chocolate box.

If I had to pick a tray I would probably pick the female one, but there is still a chance you'll eat shit.

Why? It’s none of your business really.

With that logic why are you on a forum because nothing is your business??

The favourite people in my life have been men and the ones to show me kindness and acceptance have been men. The males in my family are moral, caring and protective.

But I don't disagree with you though, all I can assume is that there's a wide difference between the men who do these things and those that don't.

Instead of silencing debate, maybe it would be good to understand what actually causes these differences, as they are vast.

YABVU for starting with "this will probably be deleted"

Why?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/05/2026 17:00

Not sure if you are aware but women can’t just squat in the street. Men can piss standing up without anyone being able to see their genitals.

Its no more disgusting then when people let their little boys piss in the street

I had a look at this - you all realise this thread is from 2007?? I'm not saying that people don't still think like this but the population of internet forum users in 2007 was a lot more niche than nowadays, and the attitude of sexism was very different in 2007 (I'm not going to say better or worse).

Surely we can get a more relevant example of current sexism online?

I should imagine it's just deeper underground. We know sexism is on the rise, so is crimes against women (even taking into account more people are reporting it).

Men bashing? Aren't I pointing out the truth?
Are u a man? If so what's the problem????

The truth? Thats always subjective and you sound like someone who is VERY prone to subjective views. You literally say apart from sperm what is the point of a man? Maybe to take a bullet 100 years ago so a woman like you can post this? What is the point in a woman who doesn't reproduce? What is the point in a man or woman on benefits who doesn't contribute to society? What is the point in giving drugs to elderly people to keep them alive? What is the point of keeping people with disabilities alive? Why are you not starting threads to this effect?

Id be lying to say ive never pissed outside! Ive needed badly walking the dog before in the woods but have u ever just pissed in the corner of a street???

I do voluntary garden at a churchyard. We get men regularly come in a piss there, thinking nobody is around. I now take enjoyment in telling them to stop being dirty buggers, just as they've started. Hope I ruin the flow.

It's a churchyard. Have some respect fgs!

An MN recently linked to this thread on Pistonheads:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=141&h=0&i=260&t=362263
It's horrific. Men talking about using (ie paying to rape) young prostitutes, many in very poor countries. I was so upset reading it. These men saw no element of humanity in these girls. No concern for their wives or girlfriends, some of whom will be undoubtedly pregnant so they are putting their baby at risk also. I'd much prefer if men just had a bitch about women than behaved like the men on the above thread. The Very odd man who posted to say he wouldn't partake, on a stag do for example, also made it clear they wouldn't call it out.
I don't hate men. But I hate an awful lot of their behaviours and I do think they are way more likely to behave in abhorrent ways then women.
My dad was horrible, his dad was horrible, my ex husbands dad was horrible, his dad was horrible. By horrible I mean extremely abusive. My son is a young man and is a delight; I really really hope he remains that way.

I had a look at this - you all realise this thread is from 2007?? @darksideofthetoonwomen also do those 🙄

True but women also do those things the OP mentions.

Bloozie · 20/05/2026 16:56

I'm perimenopausal and so I'm fully down for this rage bait.

I only have time for things that add value to my life. Men are pissing me off right now and they just hold me back. I feel like Ginger Rogers - I do everything they do, backwards in fucking heels. What is the POINT of men?

I do think we are probs being unreasonable though.
