Why does David Beckham need to be seen everywhere?

There are so many people in the public eye worthy of opprobrium. Long lines of them. And the OP and others are choosing David Beckham? I will never understand it. Nobody gives a shit if you like him or you don't but to get this exercised about him? Nope.

I don't think he's desperate for attention, I just think he's reach a stage in his life/fame where he's now being invited to be part of things that he's genuinely interested in (gardening, chickens etc) and so he takes part because he wants to.

Who's going to say no to being part of a team designing a charity garden with the King (even if we all know Frances did all the work really)?

I completely agree OP and it’s this sort of thing surely that has led to this schism with his son. Something just fundamentally missing or wrong in their lives I would say. Full disclosure I worked with both in the past on projects and they were nice people but utterly image obsessed.

I assume he just likes to keep busy. He might be a billionaire, but he's only 51, so not ready to retire yet.

And he'll have been asked to come to all these events. He doesn't just turn up uninvited.

At least DB had an actual talent. Not like the vacuous "influencers" and Reality TV stars who pop up everywhere, despite having no skills beyond liking the sound of their own voices.

He is the biggest pick me. Paid off for him though. Remember when Sophie EB wore a T-shirt with bored of the Beckhams on the front. That was a whole generation away, the ennui must be strong now, plus now we have the whole brood to contend with now. They have more staying power than athletes foot.

I’m sick of seeing his over-botoxed face this week. He doesn’t seem to have had much to do with the garden other than requesting they include a beehive but he gets all the headlines and Frances who is actually talented and worked hard on it gets mentioned last behind him and Titchmarsh (who clearly saw how Beckham’s arse kissing the King worked and is angling for his own knighthood.)

The King’s Foundation seem to invite any old influencer to their events these days, they’re all over Instagram. I’m not sure how that does anything positive or useful but I suppose they’re trying to draw a younger crowd.

Isn't he paid very generoulsly to be an "Ambassador" for a lot of organisations?

Which I think means being in the right place at the right time to have his photograph taken with the right people for the right magazines/paparazzi/web pages.

He's actually a very keen gardener. Grows his own veg. He's just getting involved in stuff that interests him whilst promoting a charity. What's wrong with that?

I don't mind him. Preferable to the likes of the no talent reality TV lot.

I don't think he is "mates" with the King, he is involved with the King's trust that is like saying Ant and Dec are mates with the King because they are involved with the King's trust.
