So my neighbours teenage son has been smoking doobies in the garden with his parents consent. His father is a policeman and actually a firearms officer. I'm concerned that he may be using Ur at least getting high from the passive smoking. I want to report him to his superiors but DH is adamantly against it and says I'm being dramatic. Really between a rock and a hard place. AIBU if I report him?

The poll shows there is at least a decent portion of readers with a moral compass

Currently 88% think you’re being unreasonable.

12% agree and the sensible ones will be in bed now and the drunks and insomniacs skewing the results voting with a foggy head. By lunch tommorow igl be alot closer.

My neighbours son used to smoke the strongest skunk and I couldn't open my windows as my entire flat would stink. Made my life hell for a couple of years. If they are renting then report it to the landlord. Hard to prove if they deny it. Police won't be interested unfortunately.

I can see that you don't understand that alcohol is a neurotoxin and Marijuana isn't.

Give me strength. I just want advice on what to do not a crash course in drug use.

Edited

Maybe posting late Saturday night was a mistake. Getting passive aggressive replies and nonsense. The poll shows there is at least a decent portion of readers with a moral compass. Fine he might not get high from passive smoke but he may be smoking it himself indoors. See my dilemma?

Alcohol legal and wears off the next day.. marijuana illegal and warps the brain. See the difference?

Leave it, and he grateful he's not drinking in the garden with his friends. Drunk teenagers are far more annoying than high ones 😅

Sat watching countdown smoking a doobie more like. It's a gateway drug FYI.

I don’t touch the stuff, can’t stand the smell.

I still say ‘nose out’. It’s not your problem. My son smoked it with my knowledge. I didn’t like it, but sooner he was in my garden than out in a park with randoms.

i based my analysis off of "at least getting high from the passive smoking."
so if you had new analysis then my analysis was correct on your original point

Then google the confined area and how many joints would be needed to get high from passive smoking. 🤣

they ask on mumsnet, and then dismiss the science.

There's no decision to make, other than to extract your beak. You're being bonkers.

Ok.

@HumbleHun unless he was hotboxing the concentration levels are virtually none

Shatandfattered · 17/05/2026 01:39

🙈😂 ok.... there's multiple prescription cannabis routes for all sorts of medical issues nowadays and if your neighbour is a firearms officer I'm pretty sure he'd be drug tested randomly and even so it's bloody weed

MyGammyEye · 17/05/2026 01:38

Nobody is getting high from passively inhaling spliff smoke in the garden.
