To judge people for supporting MJ?

No doubt this will rub some people up the wrong way, but when I see people enjoying the new Michael Jackson movie or generally dismissing the abuse he perpetrated as ‘he was a child himself’, I immediately dislike them and consider them supporters of child abuse. Having read the testimonies of the victims and the multiple witnesses to his inappropriate grooming behaviour, I have no doubt in my mind that he was a child groomer and abuser and people’s support of him disgusts me. Just unfollowed someone on Instagram for posting about their enjoyment of the new movie and what a legend he is. AIBU?

At least he's dead now

This. He was acquitted by a jury. Why do you OP think you know more than the court that heard the evidence?

Being acquitted by a jury means that they couldn’t prove his guilt to the required standard. Not surprising in a case about what happened behind closed doors between two people. The victim had no corroborating evidence (how could he?) and meanwhile, MJ is powerful and rich with expensive lawyers and wheeled out a parade of character witnesses.

Try watching Leaving Neverland and then see what you think. Plus the absolute mountain of other circumstantial evidence.

He was never found guilty by a court.

He went to court for one case and was found to be not guilty.

All the other accusers are suing him for money.

Nope, me too 😂

Agree.

I watched a documentary on Netflix about Fred and Rose West. Doesn’t mean I ‘support’ them.

I am not bothered about the MJ film but i enjoy his music and have done since I was 4 years old.

What about all the war tv series, documentaries, movies should we never watch anything not fiction incase we are seen to 'support' a dead person

If they are ill educated about the situation, then I would judge them for that too. Anyone who has heard of Michael Jackson and indeed gives enough of a shit about him to go to the movie has heard of the allegations. If you have the time to listen to his music and watch his biopic, then you have the time to inform yourself about the details of the case and the testimonies of the victims. The information is readily available enough, but they don’t care enough to educate themselves.

In the 1989 I went to memphiss to see Elvis' house the recording studio he started at etc.
After touring the house we got back into the tour bus and one woman said to her partner "what his real name?" The reply was "I don't know "

My point being these people paid quite a bit of money to tour the house of someone who they had no knowledge about what so ever...because they had heard the music.

SouthernNights59 · 17/05/2026 06:07

You do realise that he is dead and therefore won't care two hoots about whether you judge him or not?

As for judging anyone who supports him, once again unless they are friends of yours they won't know. People are allowed to still enjoy his music and enjoy the movie without the need for you to police that. Seriously, some of you need to get a life. What do you think you are going to achieve?

TonyGallaSoInLoveNsoul · 17/05/2026 05:49

There is /was same thread running sorry don't know how to link.
Most thought he was a paedophile.
I read that once the boys hit a certain age he lost interest

Neverland the funfair, zoo etc all things that would appeal to children.
I don't buy into he was like a child himself and sleepovers with eight year old boys is just not right for all sorts of reasons.

I’m no fan of MJ but….

does watching the movie or even enjoying the movie make you a “supporter” of him? I think it’s possible to enjoy the film about him whilst still not condoning his actions.

I can’t understand why they’ve made a movie, it glorifies his life. If they made a movie glorifying Jim saviles life I’d not want to watch that either, or rolf Harris or Gary glitter

AlexaStopAlexaNo · 17/05/2026 05:11

SeekingTreasures · 17/05/2026 05:10

Thanks for this thread, OP. YANBU.

I have never understood how people could turn a blind eye to MJ’s shameful behaviour. I mean the video of him dangling his baby out of the window of a high building is still out there for all to see. But, it seems to have paled into insignificance for most people! Well it hasn’t for me. I think it’s shocking. Poor vulnerable baby, who he had under his care and responsibility…

As for the claims that he sexually abused children, I believe he was guilty of that and had so much money to use and buy himself out of many, many situations. So many that are beyond me.

I refuse to participate in any way with his shameful behaviour. I loved his music when I was younger and now I refuse to listen to it. If it comes on the radio, in honour of the victims and in honour of my own values, I switch the channel immediately. I don’t care if that doesn’t make a difference to anyone or anything else. It makes a difference to me.

TheDogsChair · 17/05/2026 04:40

I agree with you OP. Even if he wasn’t a paedo (he was), he still liked to spend his time with random young children. To even excuse that sort of behaviour, never mind the sexual abuse of children, shows people’s character and makes me worry whether they’re capable of making safe choices for their children.

SuddenlyBecoming · 17/05/2026 04:35

Well you clearly have a superior understanding of the evidence than the one jury he appeared before and was found not guilty. Aren't you fortunate to be so intelligent you not only know something that is unproven but also are able to tell others how wrong they are.

Why would you trust media released information to form your life? I find you bizarre and lacking critical thinking skills.

And he is dead how can you support a dead person, going by that thinking

Mind you there are people who probably think he is alive and living in Spain

Massive peado.

You can't even spell it.

One day people will realise what the media did to that poor man who did nothing wrong, in fact an humanitarian who gave so much.

I am neutral on him so have no opinion either way but please point us to where he was convicted of something and not trial by public opinion

I used to work with someone obsessed with Michael Jackson wouldn’t hear a word against him. All his accusers just after his money, was in a job where sound judgement of people is essential as well!

But they are all after his money. Thats a fact. They are suing his estate for millions of dollars.

@lightningatmidnight okay that’s a surprise to me, I am happy to be corrected and no I have no interest in Tik Tok at all ! that’s awful he’s playing the victim. I watched a very good documentary a while back about the case, it was very sad, Stuart’s father was interviewed in his care home, has since died. There was no way MB was not complicit in that young man’s death.
